ESPN has Clemson outside of the Top 10 in their 2025 preseason outlook
ESPN's newly released Football Power Index may have sparked some buzz, but its view on Clemson is raising eyebrows for all the wrong reasons. The Tigers came in at No. 11 overall — and, even more puzzling, behind Miami in the ACC pecking order.
Despite finishing last season with momentum and boasting one of the most complete rosters in the country, Clemson finds itself ranked behind a Hurricanes team that just swapped out a Heisman finalist for a quarterback recovering from a torn UCL.
Even ESPN's own experts think the FPI got it wrong.
'I think you can argue that Clemson is one of the two best teams in the FBS entering the season (along with Penn State), and it's certainly one of the best 10, so it's surprising to see them in at No. 11,' said ESPN's Mark Schlabach. 'In our colleague Jordan Reid's initial 2026 NFL mock draft, he had four Tigers going in the first round, including quarterback Cade Klubnik at No. 1.'
Klubnik's rise has been meteoric. Once a question mark, he's now viewed as a potential No. 1 overall pick after throwing for 3,639 yards, 36 touchdowns, and just six interceptions last season. He'll lead an offense that ESPN still ranks as the eighth-best in the country — but somehow not good enough to crack the FPI's Top 10.
Defensively, Clemson is as loaded as it gets. Tackle Peter Woods and edge rusher T.J. Parker are projected top-10 picks, anchoring what many view as the most dominant defensive front in the nation. Yet, ESPN's FPI has the Tigers' defense rated just No. 15 nationally.
That's a head-scratcher, especially considering Clemson's relatively favorable schedule. While the Tigers open with a high-profile matchup against No. 12 LSU, the rest of the slate features only two other opponents in the Top 20 (No. 15 South Carolina and No. 20 SMU). Florida State, Louisville, North Carolina, and the rest of the ACC trail far behind.
Even ESPN's Paolo Uggetti questioned Miami's spot at No. 9, saying, 'I'm having a hard time with Miami all the way up at No. 9... Count me among the skeptics.'
Clemson still holds the seventh-best odds to make the College Football Playoff (47.3%) and win the national title (3.8%), according to the FPI — but that's a ceiling far below what many think the Tigers are capable of reaching.
So while the metrics may say No. 11, the eye test — and ESPN's own analysts — suggest Clemson should be firmly in the national title conversation.

Here's how much Bengals made from revenue sharing in 2024

The NFL raked in $13.6 billion in revenue during the last fiscal year, according to an report. Each club, including the Cincinnati Bengals, received the same slice of that pie. The Packers, the only publicly-owned organization in the NFL, make an annual disclosure of their finances and some of the information was released to ESPN ahead of the Friday disclosure. That included that the Packers received $432.6 million as part of NFL revenue sharing, Rob Demovsky wrote. That also means the league shared more than $13 billion in revenue from the previous fiscal year, the ESPN report stated. The prior fiscal year saw NFL revenue sharing eclipse $400 million per club for the first time in league history, according to ESPN. Colts' fans voice their support for one QB as training camp competition begins

With the Colts' QB competition underway, fans voiced their support for Anthony Richardson during the first training camp practice. Indianapolis Colts' fans in attendance at Grand Park on Wednesday for the team's first training camp practice voiced their support for Anthony Richardson, who is competing with Daniel Jones for the starting quarterback job. According to the Indy Star's Nate Atkins, a "crescendo of cheers" came from the grandstands when Richardson took Jones' place during practice. ESPN's Stephen Holder would write that Richardson "got a loud welcome" each time he was under center. "I know this city loves and supports me," Richardson said, via ESPN. "I've just got to do my part -- make sure I can do everything in my power to be the quarterback they want me to be and need me to be." GM Chris Ballard and head coach Shane Steichen find themselves in a must-win situation this season after the team hasn't made the playoffs since 2020. So at the end of the day, whoever is the most consistent quarterback this summer is going to get the starting job. But in an ideal world, it's Richardsdon who seizes control of that competition. For one, the Colts invested the fourth overall pick and time into his development. But more importantly, there is still the sky-high potential that he possesses as well. As Steichen described, the Colts will monitor Richardson's throwing volume coming off a shoulder setback, but that will take place during the individual portion of practice. In the team setting, he will be a full-go, alternating first-team reps with Daniel Jones as the competition and evaluation process truly begins. The big priority for Richardson this offseason was on becoming more efficient on those short to intermediate throws, and his footwork is a big part of that.

What are LSU football's chances of landing five-star offensive lineman Darius Gray?

LSU football is trending towards a commitment from one of the 2026 cycle's best offensive linemen. Per Rivals' Prediction Machine, five-star Darius Gray has a 51.1% chance to land with the Tigers. South Carolina trails with a 32.5% chance. Gray's top five also includes Clemson, Tennessee, and Ohio State. Should Gray choose LSU, he would be the fifth five-star commitment and the fifth offensive lineman in the Tigers' class. It currently ranks fifth in the SEC and eighth nationally in Rivals' Industry Rankings. 247Sports is the highest on Gray. The outlet has him as the best player out of Virginia and at his position as well as No. 16 overall. Rivals slots him at No. 22 overall and No. 2 from his home state. LSU was favorited to land the Richmond, VA native for multiple weeks but head coach Brian Kelly and his staff must continue making him a priority. He isn't expected to commit before the start of his senior season at St. Christopher's School.
