Double the impact: IKEA Richmond will match back to school essentials donated by customers.
RICHMOND, BC, July 2, 2025 /CNW/ - IKEA Richmond is teaming up with the Richmond Food Bank to help create a better everyday life for children and youth in the community heading back to school without proper essentials, such as lunch bags, reusable food containers, water bottles and other beverage containers. With 18 percent of Richmond Food Bank clients being school-aged children, this initiative aims to ensure every child returns to school nourished, confident, and ready to learn.
From July 7 to August 10, 2025, IKEA Richmond will collect back to school essentials that help children bring nutritious lunches and snacks to school. To amplify community support, IKEA Richmond will match the retail value of donated IKEA "Back to School" essentials up to a maximum of $5,000.
The rising cost of living has made it increasingly difficult for many families to afford both food and school supplies. For families relying on the food bank, the added burden of back-to-school expenses can be overwhelming.
"At IKEA, our vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people," says Maria Valley, Communications Responsible at IKEA Richmond. "We believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive at school, and that starts with being well-fed and well-prepared. By working together with the Richmond Food Bank, we're helping families stretch their budgets further while supporting children's health and education."
How the community can make a difference.
Double the impact. For every IKEA "Back to School" item donated at IKEA Richmond during the campaign period, IKEA Richmond will match with similar products up to a maximum of $5000 retail value. A list of suggested products including lunch bags, reusable food containers, water bottles, beverage containers and more can be found by visiting IKEA.ca/richmondfoodbank
Donate non-IKEA essentials. IKEA Richmond will support as a drop-off location for non-perishable food items such as canned protein (chicken, turkey, meat, fish, beans and chickpeas), canned vegetables and fruits, rice and pasta.
Spread the word. Share the campaign with friends, family, and local organization to maximize the community impact.
"We're seeing more families than ever before turning to us for help," says Hajira Hussain, Executive Director of the Richmond Food Bank. "With school-aged children making up nearly one-fifth of our clients, this initiative couldn't come at a better time. We're grateful to IKEA Richmond for stepping up to support our community in such a meaningful way."
This partnership is tied to the IKEA Neighborhoods initiative, IKEA Canada's broader commitment to affordability and community support. IKEA Neighborhoods is about creating positive social impact for the many people, by using our business capabilities such as home furnishing expertise, our product range, our IKEA stores and the IKEA co-workers. This approach contributes to local communities to be fairer, more inclusive and more sustainable neighborhoods. At IKEA, creating positive social impact is good for business and for society. This initiative relies on the expertise of community partners, such as Richmond Food Bank, to help identify the neighborhood's most critical issues and to co-create impactful solutions.

EnChannel Medical to Acquire Acutus Medical AcQMap™ Electrophysiology Assets

This acquisition significantly strengthens EnChannel's intellectual property portfolio by integrating key innovations in second- and third-generation non-contact mapping (NCM) technologies. These technologies form the foundation for full-chamber atrial fibrillation (AF) mapping – a critical capability for understanding AF mechanisms and delivering effective, personalized treatment. "This strategic acquisition accelerates our mission to visualize and treat AF with unprecedented efficiency and precision," said Jun Feng, CEO of EnChannel Medical. "By building on prior advancements and leveraging our proprietary technologies, we are shaping the future of persistent AF diagnosis and treatment." Contact and Non-Contact Mapping in Perspective Conventional contact mapping systems sequentially collect electrical signals by making physical contact with many small regions of cardiac tissue, generating regional maps of electrical activity over numerous beats that are gradually assembled into a composite view across the chamber surface. While effective for regular rhythms, it is time-consuming, and it cannot capture the full dynamics of irregular activation patterns, such as in AF, often averaging out critical details and reducing mapping accuracy and specificity. In contrast, non-contact mapping (NCM) reconstructs full-chamber electrical activity from cardiac signals sensed by numerous electrodes distributed within the atrial chamber cavity. NCM delivers a comprehensive, single-beat depiction of activation over the entire atrial chamber at every instance of time. This approach significantly improves mapping efficiency and preserves the dynamic patterns of both regular and complex, irregular rhythms, including AF. Acutus' AcQMap™ technology is a second-generation NCM platform that advanced beyond the first-generation voltage-to-voltage mapping (pioneered by Endocardial Solutions – now part of Abbott), and delivered improved spatial resolution and accuracy, using voltage-to-charge-density mapping. Advancing the Frontier of Non-Contact Mapping EnChannel's propriety Action Potential Mapping offers a third-generation breakthrough in NCM technology, with accurate reconstruction of both depolarization and repolarization dynamics. This fulfills a biophysical unmet need that remains in conventional mapping, which cannot address repolarization. Action Potential Mapping therefore approaches the real nature of cardiac conduction and enables comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms that initiate and maintain AF – laying the groundwork for precise, individualized treatment of persistent AF. "Many of us at EnChannel had essential roles in developing all three generations of non-contact mapping," said Graydon Beatty, CSO of EnChannel Medical. "Each generation informed and enabled the next one; from reproduction of the cardiac signal in the first; to resolving the physical electric source of the signal in the second; and now culminating in reconstruction of the physiologic action potential in the third, revealing the actual nature of cardiac conduction dynamics. This acquisition unites our history of requisite methods and resources across the generations, and advances a hybrid workflow of all modes of navigation, mapping, and visualization. We are poised and resolved to establish an electrophysiology ecosystem that uncovers the mechanisms of AF, optimizes patient-specific treatment, and improves clinical outcomes in persistent AF." About EnChannel Medical Founded in 2020 by a team of seasoned electrophysiology innovators from both the United States and China, EnChannel is developing a holistic platform that unifies magnetic-impedance navigation, intracardiac echocardiography, full-chamber 5D action-potential mapping, and mid-voltage (<1000 V) pulsed-field ablation to deliver safe and personalized treatment for patients with atrial fibrillation. EnChannel is well positioned to expand its global innovation and advance its mission to transform AF care through data-driven, patient-specific therapy solutions. For more information, visit and follow us on LinkedIn. EnChannel's mapping and ablation products are investigational devices and are limited by federal (or United States) law to investigational use. HIGH LINER FOODS COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF LEADING U.S. SEAFOOD BRANDS MRS. PAUL'S AND VAN DE KAMP'S FROM CONAGRA BRANDS

LUNENBURG, NS, June 30, 2025 /CNW/ - High Liner Foods Incorporated (TSX: HLF) ("High Liner Foods" or "the Company"), a leading North American value-added frozen seafood company, today announced the completion of its previously announced acquisition of the Mrs. Paul's and Van de Kamp's frozen breaded and battered seafood brands from Conagra Brands, Inc. ("Conagra") for the adjusted purchase price of USD $42.4 million, compared to the USD $55 million initially disclosed. The adjusted purchase price accounts for an estimated USD $23.8 million of inventory acquired by the Company as part of the transaction on closing, compared to the normalized target of $36 million. The inventory adjustment reflects normal seasonal shifts in inventory at the time of closing and is subject to a further post-closing adjustment. "The completion of this acquisition marks an exciting milestone for High Liner Foods," said Paul Jewer, President and Chief Executive Officer of High Liner Foods. "As we integrate these two trusted brands into our portfolio, our focus now shifts to realizing synergies, expanding our reach across the U.S. retail market, and building an even stronger platform for long-term, sustainable growth." As previously disclosed, the transaction secures the volume currently tied to High Liner Foods' co-manufacturing agreement with Conagra, which is set to expire in 2027. With this acquisition, the Company expects annual volume from this business to total approximately 29 million pounds of seafood sold in the U.S., and will provide expanded distribution and access to a new base of national retail customers. The transaction is estimated to deliver USD $11 million annual run rate Adjusted EBITDA 1 in 2027, inclusive of current contract margin, incremental contribution margin and net cost synergies, with potential for further growth. The purchase was funded through High Liner Foods' existing asset-based lending facility, allowing the Company to maintain its strong balance sheet and healthy leverage position. Non-IFRS Measures The Company reports its financial results in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards ("IFRS"). Included in this press release are the following non-IFRS financial measures: Adjusted EBITDA. The Company believes this non-IFRS financial measure provides useful information to both management and investors in measuring the financial performance and financial condition of the Company for the reasons outlined below. This measure does not have any standardized meaning as prescribed by IFRS and therefore may not be comparable to similarly titled measures presented by other publicly traded companies, nor should it be construed as an alternative to other financial measures determined in accordance with IFRS. Adjusted EBITDA is defined as earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization adjusted for items that are not considered representative of ongoing operational activities of the business. We use Adjusted EBITDA as a performance measure as it approximates cash generated from operations before capital expenditures and changes in working capital, and it excludes the impact of expenses and recoveries associated with certain non-routine items that are not considered representative of the ongoing operational activities, as discussed above, and share-based compensation expense related to the Company's share price. We believe investors and analysts also use Adjusted EBITDA to evaluate the performance of our business. The most directly comparable IFRS measure to Adjusted EBITDA is "Net income" on the consolidated statements of income. Adjusted EBITDA is also useful when comparing to other companies, as it eliminates the differences in earnings that are due to how a company is financed. Also, for the purpose of certain covenants on our credit facilities, "EBITDA" is based on Adjusted EBITDA, with further adjustments as defined in the Company's credit agreements. For a reconciliation of Adjusted EBITDA to net income, refer to the Company's MD&A for the fifty-two weeks ended December 28, 2024 which is available on SEDAR+ at Forward Looking Statements This press release contains forward-looking information within the meaning of applicable securities laws, including, but not limited to, statements regarding the Company's acquisition of the Mrs. Paul's and Van de Kamp's brands and associated inventories and adjustments, the anticipated benefits and synergies from such acquisition, the future financial and operational performance of the Company and the business to be acquired, including Adjusted EBITDA, financing of the acquisition, and the business strategies and operational activities of the Company and the markets and industries in which it operates. Forward-looking statements are based on information currently available to the Company and management's estimates, expectations and assumptions, which we believe are reasonable as of the current date but may prove to be incorrect. Forward-looking statements are also subject to risks and uncertainties, including, but not limited to, risks relating to the inability to successfully transition and integrate the business acquired following closing, the risk that the acquisition may not be completed in a timely manner or at all, risks related to a failure to obtain financing by the Company on acceptable terms, the potential failure to realize anticipated synergies and other benefits from the proposed transaction, customer risk, geopolitical and tariff risks, and uncertainty and adverse changes in general economic conditions and consumer spending habits. Actual results or events may differ materially from those expressed or implied by such forward-looking statements.
