Lebanese MP Camille Chamoun: I Want Peace with Everybody - War Is Futile, Israel Will Not Be Annihilated; Hizbullah's Weapons Threaten Both Lebanese and Israelis Alike; I'm Not Sad Nasrallah Is Dead,

Lebanese MP Camille Chamoun said on Spot Shot on YouTube on May 16, 2025, that as long as Hizbullah maintains its weapons, Israel considers itself under threat and the war continues. 'We Lebanese feel threatened by Hizbullah's weapons, so what do you expect from the Jews?' he said.
Chamoun said that Christians in Lebanon carry weapons because they have been threatened and persecuted ever since Jesus Christ visited this holy land. He said that Lebanese Christians are used to bearing arms and defending themselves, and that otherwise they would have been annihilated like the Christians of Iraq and the majority of Christians in Syria.
In response to a question about whether he wants peace with Israel, Chamoun replied: 'I want peace with everybody. I want to put an end to war.' He explained that since the age of 18, all he has known in Lebanon is war — wars he described as 'futile' and leading nowhere. He dismissed talk of removing or annihilating Israel as nothing more than empty slogans. On the assassination of Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Chamoun said he felt no sadness, describing Nasrallah as 'more Iranian than Lebanese.'

Israeli minister calls for Jewish Gaza

Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu has drawn sharp condemnation after calling for Gaza to be 'wiped out' and resettled exclusively with Jews. Speaking to Israeli radio station Kol Barama, Eliyahu praised what he described as the government's effort to 'wipe out this evil,' referring to Gaza's population as one 'educated on Mein Kampf,' Adolf Hitler's manifesto. He added that future Jewish towns in the Strip 'won't be fenced in inside cantons.' Opposition leader Yair Lapid denounced the remarks as 'a moral attack and an explanatory disaster that severely damages Israel's credibility,' stressing that 'Israeli soldiers are not dying to exterminate civilians, but to secure hostages and protect the country's safety." דברי השר אליהו הם פיגוע ערכי ואסון הסברתי. ישראל לעולם לא תשכנע את העולם בצדקת המלחמה שלנו נגד הטרור כל עוד מובילה אותנו ממשלת מיעוט קיצונית עם שרים שמקדשים דם ומוות.לוחמי צה"ל לא נלחמים, נהרגים ונפצעים כדי למחוק אוכלוסיה אזרחית. הם נלחמים כדי להחזיר את החטופים ולהבטיח את… — יאיר לפיד - Yair Lapid (@yairlapid) July 24, 2025 Eliyahu, a member of the ultranationalist Otzma Yehudit party—often described as 'racist' for its openly anti-Arab stance—made the remarks as international scrutiny intensifies over Israel's stated objectives in Gaza, where hunger now grips the entire population. On Thursday alone, 17 Palestinians were reported killed, including three while seeking aid.

South Lebanon: Israeli attacks leave one dead

Shafaq News – South Lebanon A Lebanese citizen was killed on Thursday after an Israeli drone targeted a vehicle in the border town of Aita al-Shaab, according to Lebanon's Ministry of Health. Local sources reported that another Israeli drone strike hit a wooded area in the town of Beit Lif. In the al-Omra border region, Israeli soldiers opened fire on livestock herders, while flares were launched over the areas of al-Khiam and the orchards of al-Wazzani. Earlier at dawn, an explosion occurred in the village of Houla, reportedly carried out by an Israeli force. The incidents mark another breach of the US-brokered ceasefire implemented on November 27, 2024. Since then, Lebanese authorities have documented over 4,000 Israeli violations, with at least 234 people killed and more than 530 injured. Israel continues to occupy five military outposts in southern Lebanon, despite the ceasefire terms requiring a full withdrawal.

'Today a false news is being spread… that the Christians were forcefully made to leave al-Suwayda,' said Father Nicola Waqas Khoury of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Bosra-Hauran and Jabal al-Arab, adding that they remain in their lands There have been ongoing reports that Christians in Suwayda province are migrating amid fighting between Druze fighters and Bedouin tribes that erupted on July 13, leading to a regional crisis as Israel intervened in support of the Druze, striking several targets, including Syrian state forces and the defense ministry building in Damascus. At least 1,300 people have been killed in the violence in Suwayda, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The Observatory also reported on Wednesday that the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Bosra-Hauran and Jabal al-Arab denied the reports of displacement, affirming that they are staying. "Some people left the province who have humanitarian conditions or who have diseases,' it said, adding that 'this does not mean that the Christians are migrating.' A ceasefire between Israel and Syria - brokered by Washington - was announced Saturday by the US Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack and appears to be holding. While Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa has pledged to form an 'inclusive transitional government that would reflect Syria's diversity,' he continues to face domestic and international criticism over his perceived marginalization of minority communities.
