With Mom Hospitalized, Draft 'Bittersweet' for Steelers Derrick Harmon
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's what the team's plan is for fifth-round draft pick Yahya Black. The Steelers have not prioritized the nose tackle position in recent years, never playing Breiden Fehoko in his two years with the team. So why will things be different for Black, who joined the Steelers out of Iowa in the 2025 NFL Draft? Alan breaks it down. #steelers #herewego #nfl CONNECT WITH STEELERS NOW: Steelers Now: https://steelersnow.com SN on Twitter: https://twitter.com/pghsteelersnow SN on FB: https://facebook.com/steelersnow SN on Insta: https://www.instagram.com/pghsteelersnow/

Ex-Steelers Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick opens up on being traded to Dolphins
This story initially appeared on Miami Dolphins All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick addressed the media for the first time since the Pittsburgh Steelers traded him to Miami on June 30. He said his silence was not a reflection of his feelings about his return to Miami. 'One, I am not a big social media guy, you aren't going to see me on there, point blank,' Fitzpatrick explained to the Miami media. 'Two, in no way, shape, or form was that an expression about coming to Miami. Three, I want to thank the city of Pittsburgh, you guys treated me very well. i enjoyed my time there, had some great players and great teammates. It was very unfortunate the way things ended, it's a part of business. I'm extremely excited to be a Miami Dolphin.' Fitzpatrick declined any and all questions about the past. He just wanted to focus on the present and being a Dolphin. Click here to read more from our partners at Sports Now Group Pittsburgh. Download the FREE WPXI News app for breaking news alerts. Steelers RB Cordarrelle Patterson announces he got released on his day off
After missing the first four practices of training camp, the Pittsburgh Steelers finally got around to releasing veteran running back Cordarrelle Patterson on Monday. But before the team could put anything out publicly, Patterson did it himself on X is the most petty way possible, noting he was released on his day off. The writing was on the wall for Patterson. After Najee Harris signed with the Los Angeles Chargers, the Steelers added Kenneth Gainwell but took it a step further when they selected former Iowa star Kaleb Johnson in the third round of the 2026 NFL draft. This made Patterson the odd man out and we expected this announcement to come much sooner. There was no word on why Patterson was absent from the first four training camp practices, but we aren't sure if it was injury-related or not. With Monday's news, it feels less like this was somehow related to an injury. The Steelers signed Patterson in the last offseason to help with depth on offense and as a kick returner, but it never really came to fruition. Patterson shouldn't be without a team for long, assuming he is healthy and ready to go. Cordarrelle Patterson says Steelers have released him
According to Cordarrelle Patterson, the Steelers have released Cordarrelle Patterson. The player posted this on Twitter: "Breaking news. . . . Pittsburgh Steelers release old washed up cordarrelle patterson on his day off!!!" Patterson signed a two-year, $6 million deal with the Steelers in 2024. He was paid $3.2 million in 2024, and he was due to make $2.8 million in 2025. The move creates $1.85 million in cap space. He entered the league 12 years ago, as a first-round pick of the Vikings. Raw but talented, he excelled in Minnesota as a kick returner. After the Vikings didn't exercise his fifth-year option, Patterson became a versatile contributor, both on offense and on special teams. After leaving Minnesota, Patterson spent a year in Oakland, a year in New England, two in Chicago, and three in Atlanta. On signing with the Falcons, he officially became a running back. After peaking at 1,166 yards from scrimmage and 11 touchdowns, Patterson hasn't been close to the same. Last year, Patterson appeared in 13 games with one start. He rushed for 135 yards and added 80 receiving yards, scoring one touchdown. Patterson is a four-time first-team All-Pro, a four-time Pro Bowler, and a two-time second team All-Pro. Those distinctions were earned as a return specialist.
