Police officers at the Tangier-City Port successfully thwarted, late Sunday night, an attempt to smuggle 64,080 psychotropic tablets and arrested three individuals for their suspected connection to a criminal network involved in international drug and psychotropic trafficking, according to a security source.
The suspects, a couple and their child, aged between 22 and 54, were arrested upon arrival aboard a maritime shuttle from a European port, the source added, noting that searches conducted aboard a commercial vehicle they were using led to the seizure of 64,080 psychotropic tablets, including 50,880 «Rivotril» and 13,200 «Trankimazine».
The suspects were placed under judicial investigation by the Tangier Prefectural Criminal Investigation Department, supervised by the public prosecutor's office, with a view to uncovering the ins and outs of this case and identifying any possible connections to this criminal activity.

Spain arrests leader of far-right group targeting Moroccan migrants in Torre Pacheco

The Spanish Civil Guard in Barcelona arrested a man on Monday evening suspected of leading the far-right Telegram group «Deport Them Now», which had called for «hunts» targeting Moroccan migrants in the town of Torre Pacheco, in the Murcia region, according to Spanish media reports. Spain's Ministry of the Interior announced that the group's Telegram channel has been shut down. An investigating judge in San Javier is handling the case, and two computers were seized as evidence. Torre Pacheco has been rocked by unrest in recent days, leading to the arrest of 13 individuals and the identification of 120 others, many with prior records of violent offenses. The tension erupted last Wednesday after two young men attacked a retiree, triggering violent retaliation against migrants, particularly those of Moroccan origin. The arrested suspect is accused of holding a leadership role within Deport Them Now and faces charges of incitement to hatred. Last week, the group published a statement on social media explicitly calling for a «hunt» targeting Moroccans in Torre Pacheco. The group promotes the expulsion of migrants from Europe, as stated in a welcome message to new members: «You have decided to join Deport Them Now – the European Union to contribute to the largest deportation campaign in European history. Express your opinion freely and become an active member through demonstrations and other activities across the continent. Welcome to our white brotherhood».

Moroccan Authorities Seize 102,000 Pills in Bab Sebta Smuggling Attempt

Berlin – A coordinated operation between Morocco's national police and customs services stopped a major drug trafficking attempt at the Bab Sebta border post on Saturday evening. The interception involved a vehicle registered abroad, driven by a Spanish citizen of Moroccan origin. She traveled with her two children and another Moroccan woman. Border officers carried out a detailed inspection of the vehicle and uncovered 102,000 Rivotril tablets concealed inside metal compartments built into the car's structure. The scene appeared, at first glance, to be that of an ordinary family trip. That appearance quickly faded as officers discovered the hidden cargo. Investigators now believe the suspects used the family setup as a cover, hoping to reduce suspicion and ease their way across the border. Authorities arrested all four individuals as soon as they entered Moroccan territory. The group remains in custody under the supervision of the public prosecutor. Investigators aim to trace possible links between this case and wider trafficking networks, both within and beyond Morocco. This seizure marks a new chapter in Morocco's efforts to fight the spread of narcotics and psychotropic substances. Security forces continue to reinforce control at sensitive border crossings like Bab Sebta, where criminal networks often test the limits of surveillance. Officials stress their resolve to dismantle these networks and to protect public health and national security. Tags: Bab SebtaDrug bustMoroccoMorocco drug bustsmuggling

Morocco Seizes Over 7 Tonnes of Cannabis at Tangier Med Port

Rabat – Moroccan police and customs officers working at the Tangier Med Port foiled a major drug trafficking attempt on Monday night. During a joint border inspection, officers discovered seven tonnes and 50 kilograms of cannabis resin, locally known as 'chira,' hidden carefully inside a trailer. The truck, registered in Morocco, was preparing to smuggle the drugs to a European port. Police arrested a 42-year-old Moroccan driver of the truck. He is now in custody pending investigation. The public prosecutor has ordered a full legal inquiry to uncover more details about the case, including whether the suspect is linked to wider national or international drug networks. Security services said this seizure is part of ongoing efforts to fight against international drug trafficking. Security forces and customs officers working at Morocco's borders, especially at key points like Tangier Med, continue to tighten control to stop the movement of illegal drugs and psychotropic substances. Last month, Agadir police seized over four tonnes of cannabis at a farm near Oulad Teima. They also arrested a 66-year-old man and seized a rubber boat, which suggested that the suspect may have been preparing to transport the drugs by sea. Also last month, police seized nearly four tonnes of cannabis concealed in two utility vehicles in Oued Zem. They also arrested two suspects, 23 and 35 years old, who were armed with bladed weapons and initially refused to comply.
