Moroccan Authorities Seize 102,000 Pills in Bab Sebta Smuggling Attempt
Berlin – A coordinated operation between Morocco's national police and customs services stopped a major drug trafficking attempt at the Bab Sebta border post on Saturday evening. The interception involved a vehicle registered abroad, driven by a Spanish citizen of Moroccan origin. She traveled with her two children and another Moroccan woman. Border officers carried out a detailed inspection of the vehicle and uncovered 102,000 Rivotril tablets concealed inside metal compartments built into the car's structure. The scene appeared, at first glance, to be that of an ordinary family trip. That appearance quickly faded as officers discovered the hidden cargo. Investigators now believe the suspects used the family setup as a cover, hoping to reduce suspicion and ease their way across the border. Authorities arrested all four individuals as soon as they entered Moroccan territory. The group remains in custody under the supervision of the public prosecutor. Investigators aim to trace possible links between this case and wider trafficking networks, both within and beyond Morocco. This seizure marks a new chapter in Morocco's efforts to fight the spread of narcotics and psychotropic substances. Security forces continue to reinforce control at sensitive border crossings like Bab Sebta, where criminal networks often test the limits of surveillance. Officials stress their resolve to dismantle these networks and to protect public health and national security. Tags: Bab SebtaDrug bustMoroccoMorocco drug bustsmuggling

Drug Trafficking: Police in Oujda Arrest Couple, Seize Thousands of Ecstasy Pills
Rabat — Oujda police seized nearly 7,000 psychotropic pills and arrested a couple suspected of drug trafficking on Saturday. The operation took place in joint collaboration between Oujda's police and Morocco's national intelligence services. Security officials caught the suspects red-handed while they transported drugs in a car. During the initial search, officers discovered 3,000 pills, including 2,000 ecstasy tablets and 1,000 Rivotril prescription sedatives. Following up with a home search, police found an additional 3,918 pills — including 3,718 ecstasy tablets and 200 more prescription drugs. Officers also seized 500 grams of ecstasy powder, 100 grams of cocaine, and abortion pills, along with cash believed to be from the drug sales. The suspects were placed under a judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office. Authorities continue to search for other potential accomplices and connections to wider drug trafficking networks. Morocco has been intensifying efforts to crackdown on drug and ecstasy pills trafficking across the country. In February, Morocco's security and customs officers foiled an attempt to smuggle 53,400 ecstasy pills at the Beni Ansar maritime port in Nador. The North African country has been actively combating this issue, which continues to prove a challenge due to its strategic location as a gateway to and from Africa.

Karkoubi : The «poor man's drug» smuggled from Morocco spreads in Andalusia
The growing spread of «Karkoubi», a drug smuggled from Morocco that combines hashish with clonazepam—a powerful benzodiazepine—has put authorities in Andalusia on high alert. In this context, police in Algeciras arrested a 46-year-old woman in possession of 169 pills, 12 forged prescriptions, stolen identity documents, and other prohibited medications. According to Spanish media, officers found psychiatric drugs such as Rivotril and Trankimazin—both commonly sold on the black market—further fueling the region's rising drug trade. Spanish police have launched awareness campaigns on social media to warn about the dangers of Karkoubi, which has become widespread due to its low cost and easy availability. Authorities stress that it poses a growing threat, particularly among vulnerable populations, earning it the nickname «the poor man's drug».

Police in Tetouan Seize 17,505 Drug Pills, Arrest Four Suspects
Rabat – Police in Tetouan seized 17,505 drug pills and arrested four suspects on Tuesday evening. The operation was carried out in collaboration with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), and the suspects are believed to be part of a larger criminal network involved in drug trafficking. According to a security source, the suspects were caught red-handed in possession of the drugs as they were attempting to sell them. During the operation, police searched a vehicle the suspects were using and found 17,505 pills of 'Rivotril,' a type of prescription drug often misused as a narcotic. Authorities have placed the suspects under judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor. The investigation now aims to uncover more details about the network, including identifying other individuals involved, and dismantling the entire operation. The source said that this recent operation is part of Morocco's continuous efforts to combat drug trafficking and organized crime. The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and DGST continue to work together to prevent the smuggling and distribution of illegal drugs across the country, the source added. Police in Berkane arrested two individuals earlier this week for their suspected involvement in psychotropic drug trafficking. This includes a repeat offender and a general practitioner who issued false prescriptions that enabled the first suspect to purchase the drugs. This weekend, security services in Nador foiled a drug trafficking operation, seizing over a ton of hashish and arresting six individuals. The operation was carried out across several northern cities.
