‘Thailand Has Ruined My Life': This Man's Rant Isn't What You Are Expecting
You know that feeling when a vacation completely alters your sense of normal life? Like, you visit a place thinking it's just a trip, but it turns into an obsession. Case in point? A man whose life changed in a full-blown life crisis after he took a trip to Thailand, as he dramatically put it in a post on Reddit, saying, 'Thailand has ruined my life."
The post seems more like a love letter to Thailand than a rant, though, as the man candidly shared how he ended up falling for the country on his very first visit, and people across the Internet are relating hard.
In his Reddit post, the man goes on to explain how he first visited Thailand in May 2024 and instantly fell head over heels, so much so that he spent a total of '13 weeks" in the span of just 12 months there. Simply put, his life has not been the same since. Guess what? He went back again in December for another five-week trip to the beautiful country.
'I first visited on May 24, fell in love with the place. Within the next 12 months, I went again 4 more times for a total of 13 weeks, going back again for 5 weeks in December," read the Reddit post.
Man's Retirement Plans
Now, all the man thinks about is retiring in Thailand only, and that's not all. He is also ready to leave his well-paid job, sell off all his possessions, and start a new life there. And honestly, is he to be blamed here?
The man further wrote, 'All I ever think about is retiring there at 50 now, constantly talking about the place. Willing to leave a fairly well-paid job in 4 more years and sell all my possessions just to get out there full-time at 50. D*mn you, Thailand for being so d*mn good!"
Internet Relates Hard
And the Internet? It instantly flooded the comment section with their reactions, and it seems that they did not just understand the man but lived his dream. One of them also offered a reality check, saying, 'You should come for a period of several months and try to live as a resident; things can be very different."
Another added, 'I'm retired here, and I love it here. I will tell you, the grass isn't greener on the side; it's just a different shade of green. You really need to slow down and spend a few months continuously in one place to see what it's really like."
Meanwhile, others encouraged the man, saying, 'Totally doable if you can find a remote gig and can also do it in the local time zone…. If not, save enough to last you until Social Security kicks in…. I'm 58 and wishing I had done this in my late 40s (now a plan to expatriate in a couple years)."
Someone else added, 'Do it. I sold everything, got a remote job and moved here in April. As ghosttravel said, 'YOLO'."
Well, Thailand is the ultimate escape plan for many, not just the man who said it out loud.

Russia starts direct commercial flights between Moscow, Pyongyang
Moscow, Jul 27 (AP) Russia on Sunday opened a regular air link between Moscow and Pyogyang, a move reflecting increasingly close ties between the two countries. The first flight operated by Russian carrier Nordwind took off from Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport carrying over 400 passengers. Russia's Transport Ministry said there will be one flight a month to meet demand. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who visited North Korea's new Wonsan-Kalma beach resort earlier this month to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, promised to encourage Russian tourists to visit the complex. The resort, which can accommodate nearly 20,000 people, is at the centre of Kim's push to boost tourism to improve his country's troubled economy. North Korea has been slowly easing the curbs imposed during the pandemic and reopening its borders in phases. But the country hasn't said if it would fully resume international tourism. Regular flights between Russia's eastern port city of Vladivostok and Pyongyang reopened in 2023 following a break caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Russia and North Korea have sharply expanded military and other ties in recent years, with Pyongyang supplying weapons and troops to back Russia's military action in Ukraine. IndiGo to add more intl destinations; to explore new MRO opportunities
New Delhi, Jul 27 (PTI) IndiGo will continue to add more overseas destinations with A321 XLRs set to join the fleet this fiscal year and aims to increase its international capacity share to 40 per cent by 2030. Also, the country's largest airline plans to explore new opportunities in the MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) space, according to its annual report for 2024-25. IndiGo, which has been flying for over 18 years, has a domestic market share of 64.5 per cent, operates around 2,200 flights daily with more than 430 planes. 'We will continue to add more destinations internationally, especially with XLRs coming in along with our newly leased wide body aircraft for long haul operations. From 28 per cent current international capacity share, we are aiming for 40 per cent by FY 2030," IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said in his message in the annual report. Earlier this month, the carrier started flights to Manchester and Amsterdam that are being operated with Boeing 787 Dreamliners leased from Norway's Norse Atlantic. The long range A321 XLRs and wide-body A350-900s are expected to join the airline's fleet in the current fiscal year ending March 2026, and 2027, respectively. 'IndiGo also plans to explore new opportunities in the MRO space as India's infrastructure development is picking up," it said. The airline is setting up an MRO facility in Bengaluru. In the annual report, the airline said its outlook remains promising, supported by a healthy demand environment and firm capacity growth. 'While macroeconomic uncertainties and operating headwinds such as aircraft groundings and fuel cost volatility remain, IndiGo continues to proactively manage these challenges through fleet diversification, damp leasing strategies and strategic agreements with OEMs," it said. OEM refers to original equipment manufacturer. PTI RAM IAS TRB view comments First Published: July 27, 2025, 20:45 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
