Sixers' Paul George has advice for Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards
The game of basketball is all about progression and development. In order to be a star in this league, one has to keep growing and take steps forward in his game to be at that next level. That is the challenge for Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.
After a blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals, Edwards and the Wolves are in the same position they were in 2024 when they were blown out in Game 5 by the Dallas Mavericks. Edwards had some big moments against the Thunder--most notably the Game 3 win--but his scoring average of 23.0 points in the series combined with his 28.2% 3-point percentage left a lot to be desired.
Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George offered up some advice to Edwards as he continues with his career. On the latest episode of "Podcast P with Paul George":
I think Ant's gotta get better at he's gotta develop a post game. Where he can let the game slow down, where he can get to one dribble and raise up and shoot, and I think that helps a player get into a rhythm a lot better, where he starts closer and he doesn't have to worry about bringing two defenders to the ball to try to get free, get to an elbow, get to the mid post, where you can see the whole floor, and play from there. So I think that's the next evolution for Ant.
Edwards is only 23 years old. One has to believe that he is going to continue taking these steps forward as a superstar and develop into one of the best players the league has seen.
As for George and the Sixers, they will be looking to get healthy and capitalize on the talent they possess after a miserable 2024-25 season.

Teasing their arrival, the NBA showed a glimpse of what the 2025-26 City Edition uniforms could look like. From what they posted on social media, they will have a throwback approach by bringing back a fan-favorite classic for each team. We'll see when the NBA announces the City Edition uniforms for next season. It's one of the bigger news items of August. Everybody is also waiting for the 2025-26 regular season schedule, which should happen sometime this month.

Sixers rookie VJ Edgecombe reveals he already has a rival in the NBA
Philadelphia 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe is looking to make an impact in the league as the No. 3 overall pick in the draft. He is joining a Sixers team looking to up the tempo in the 2025-26 season led by the handful of younger guards on the roster. As Edgecombe prepares to enter the NBA, he will be joining a Sixers team that does have championship expectations as long as Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey are healthy. Edgecombe can make an impact on this roster with his athleticism, high basketball IQ, and ability to make big plays on the defensive end. He showed a glimpse of that in the summer league. With that being said, it appears Edgecombe already has a rival in the form of Indiana Pacers forward Bennedict Mathurin as he stated on "Podcast P with Paul George": I was at Euro camp, I won MVP. After all that, Bennedict Mathuring gonna come up to me talking about when you get to league I'm gonna bust ya ass. I'm like alright bro…He didn't even say what's up. He's like yeah I'm a bust ya ass. I'm like damn, where the love at? Edgecombe will look to make an impact in the NBA right away. While he may not start just yet under coach Nick Nurse, he will certainly get a look in the rotation as he brings a lot of skills the Sixers need at this point in time.

Wing Johnny Juzang agrees to join Minnesota Timberwolves on one-year deal
Former UCLA star Johnny Juzang developed into a respectable wing rotation player in Utah who averaged 8.9 points a game last season, but with the addition of Ace Bailey to the Jazz, Juzang was the odd man out. He is now headed to Minnesota on a one-year contract, a story broken by Shams Charania of ESPN. This is going to be a minimum contract and it is not guaranteed, reports Chris Hine of the Star Tribune, meaning Juzang is going to need to earn a roster spot (or a two-way spot) in training camp. The Timberwolves currently have 13 guaranteed contracts on the books, so there are a couple of open roster spots, but Juzang is going to have to work to prove he should fill that role. Juzang spent two seasons in Utah on a two-way contract, developing his game. The man could always shoot the rock, 37.6% on 3-pointers last season, and create a shot for himself with the ball in his hands. However, he needed to work to become a better off-ball player and scorer, something he did well enough to earn a regular contract with the team and become part of the rotation in Utah, playing almost 20 minutes a night for the Jazz. However, Juzang is not good on the defensive end and that could be a challenge on a deep Timberwolves team that has reached the Western Conference Finals in consecutive years. Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels are expected to be the starters on the wings for the Timberwolves next season, with Donte DiVincenzo, Terrence Shannon Jr., Jaylen Clark in the rotation (plus Joe Ingles). In the best of circumstances, Juzang is going to be lightly used in the rotation, but Chris Finch may like the idea of a scorer off the bench he can turn to in certain spots.
