In 2022 and 2024, the Longhorns lost in the championship series to Oklahoma, winner of the prior four titles. In 2025, after beating Florida 3-0 in the WCWS opener, they upended the Sooners 4-2 in the winner's bracket. Then Texas reached the championship series for the third time in four years with a 2-0 victory over Tennessee.

Against Texas Tech, the Longhorns rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning to win 2-1 in Game 1. They lost 4-3 in Game 2 with the tying run on third base.
In Game 3 on June 6, the Longhorns left no doubt who would rule college softball. They scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning against NiJaree Canady, the million-dollar transfer from Stanford who had thrown every pitch for the Red Raiders during the WCWS. She didn't return for the second inning. Mia Scott's grand slam in the fourth inning made it 10-0 Texas.
The Red Raiders stayed alive with three runs in the top of the fifth and scored again in the seventh. After a final groundout, with a 10-4 victory secured, the Longhorns stormed the field, celebrated madly and hoisted the trophy. Pitcher Teagan Kavan was selected the most outstanding player.

As we are heading towards the end of July, we know Notre Dame football is right around the corner when fall camps starts. Typically teams have about a month from when they report to begin really preparing for the season and when the opener is, which is exactly the case for the Irish. They'll start camp this coming Thursday, July 31st, with the first game being played against Miami on the road on Aug. 31st according to On3. There is plenty of hype surrounding the Notre Dame program at the moment, fresh off an impressive run to the College Football Playoff championship game, followed up by arguably the best recruiting class ever in the 2026 cycle. Head coach Marcus Freeman is also getting plenty of national attention, and big things are expected from this team once again as the season rapidly approaches. Notre Dame does have more than a few questions surrounding its team, but many of the other tops teams are also facing the same issue. The Irish should enjoy another successful regular season, one that propels them once against into the CFP. Lorenzo Carter retires from NFL four months after signing with Tennessee Titans
After signing with the Tennessee Titans in March, defensive lineman Lorenzo Carter is retiring from the NFL. Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi made the announcement on July 22, one day after Carter informed the team of his decision and one day ahead of the opening of training camp. Carter, who was expected to play regularly after signing with Tennessee, now leaves a significant opening on the roster. Borgonzi said he was surprised by Carter's decision and will look to add defensive depth given Carter's departure. Carter, 29, played seven seasons in the NFL after being drafted by the New York Giants in 2018. In 96 games, he finished with 170 tackles, 21.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles. A four-year starter at Georgia, Carter was selected in the third round (No. 66 overall) by the Giants in 2018. After four seasons in New York (2018-21), he played three seasons for the Atlanta Falcons (2022-24) before signing with the Titans. This is the second straight year the Titans have had a recently signed player leave the team in training camp. Last summer, offensive lineman Saahdiq Charles left the team after signing with the Titans that spring.
