PAPAR: Nine men aged between 19 and 50 were rounded up following a brawl in a restaurant at Palm Square, Kinarut, on Sunday. District Police Chief Supt Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said police received a call at 6pm regarding a fight involving a Pakistani national and a local Indian. He said initial investigations revealed that the local called the name of the foreigner, a restaurant operator, in a rude tone which led to an argument. 'A fight then broke out between them, prompting their friends to intervene, which led to the situation getting out of control. 'The fight was said to have turned ugly when both parties used restaurant chairs and sticks as weapons and hit each other. The fight was broken up by the public,' he added. Kamaruddin said the misunderstanding between both parties started a week before the incident when the restaurant owner sold scrap metal to the local, a scrap metal business owner.
Advertisement He said the restaurant owner was dissatisfied after allegedly being given a cheap price for the scrap metal. The case is being investigated under Section 148 and Section 60 of the Penal Code. 'We urge those with information regarding the incident to contact Sergeant Mazlan Mali at 013-656 4978 or visit the nearest police station,' said Kamaruddin. Man arrested for allegedly raping ex-wife
KUCHING: A 23-year-old man was arrested by police for allegedly raping his ex-wife at a house in Matang last Friday. The suspect was arrested on the night of the incident following a report lodged by the 18-year-old victim. Man arrested for influencer home break-in remanded four days
BALIK PULAU: A man arrested for breaking into a house believed to belong to a social media influencer in Batu Maung has been remanded for four days to assist in investigations. Barat Daya police chief ACP Sazalee Adam confirmed the 21-year-old suspect will be held until August 8. The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine, and benzodiazepine drugs. Police also discovered prior drug-related offences in his record. The case is being investigated under Section 448 of the Penal Code for trespassing. Organised by Kelab Dua Roda Bersatu with the Anti-Drug Squad, the event promotes youth unity, anti-drug awareness, and road safety. Squad Chairman Datuk Mazlan Joehari Manan said the gathering is about more than bikes, it's a platform for change, open to all, bikers or not. With 13,000 current members, the squad aims to grow to 100,000.
