
State to host largest every parent-teacher meeting on July 5
Samagra Shiksha, State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao said: 'Mega PTM 2.0' will be conducted in all government and private schools across the State on July 5. We have directed the District Education Officers (DEOs) and Additional District Project Coordinators (ADPCs) to coordinate and monitor the arrangements.'
Mr. Rao said the proposed PTM would serve as a platform for parents to understand their children's academic progress, behaviour and social issues, while it would also enable teachers to seek parents' cooperation for the benefit of the students. 'The government believes that this collaborative approach will improve students' overall performance,' said Mr. Rao.
Referring to last year's PTM, conducted on December 7, 2024, he said 25.46 lakh parents, 27,395 alumni, 22,200 donors and 36,918 public representatives participated across 44,956 schools. 'Other States are now considering replication this initiative,' he informed.
He said the July 5 meeting would be held in 61,135 educational institutions, and they expect a participation of 2,28,21,454 individuals comprising of 74,96,228 students, 3,32,770 teachers and 1,49,92,456 parents, donors and others.
Mr. Rao said that at the meeting, teachers will provide parents with Holistic Progress Cards and headmasters will inform parents and others about the school's performance, gaps in infrastructure and their future action plans. Fun activities and games would be conducted to promote camaraderie and success stories of students and schools would be shared and celebrated.
The school campuses will have photo booths and dream walls besides sessions on positive parenting. Mr. Rao said that sapling plantation under the green drive 'Ek Ped Maa ke Naam' would be held to encourage participants to shoulder environmental responsibility. A registration app will be available for students interested in supplying saplings.
The Board of Intermediate Education, meanwhile, will conduct PTMs in government private junior colleges on July 10, 2025.
Board secretary Kritika Shukla said that the idea was to provide space for community participation and facilitate shared celebration of learning, purpose and belonging. She said: 'Besides interactive sessions on the progress of students, health screenings would be conducted under the Rashtriya Bala Suraksha Karyakram (RBSK) and students would be given health booklets, which would be tracked for the next two years.'

VIJAYAWADA: The School Education Department has announced that the second edition of its statewide parent-teacher engagement program, Mega PTM 2.0, will now be held on July 10. Initially scheduled for July 5, the event was postponed to ensure better preparedness and increased participation. The programme will be conducted across all Government, Private Aided, Private Unaided schools, and Junior Colleges in Andhra Pradesh. Samagra Shiksha State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao issued instructions to District Collectors, District Education Officers (DEOs), Regional Joint Directors (RJDs), and Additional District Project Coordinators, emphasising coordinated planning and close supervision. During a video conference on Monday, Director of School Education Vijay Rama Raju and Rao urged officials to ensure the event is inclusive, impactful, and aligned with the Right to Education Act, 2009, and the National Education Policy, 2020. Mega PTM 2.0 is expected to be held in 61,135 educational institutions, engaging 2.28 crore participants, including 74.96 lakh students, 3.32 lakh teachers, and 1.49 crore parents, donors, alumni, and public representatives. The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration among parents, teachers, and schools for holistic student development. Following the success of the first Mega PTM on December 7, 2024, the state decided to scale up the initiative. Teachers will distribute Holistic Progress Cards detailing students' academic and social growth. Open meetings led by headmasters will address school performance, infrastructure, and development goals. Additional activities will include fun games, family photo booths, and the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' (Plant a Tree in Mother's Name) campaign under the Green Passport program. Sessions on positive parenting, mental health, anti-drug awareness, and child development workshops will also be organised. Students can register for sapling distribution through the LEAP app.

Vijayawada: The department of school education on Tuesday issued orders to conduct the 'Mega PTM 2.0' programme across all government, private aided, unaided schools and junior colleges in the state on July 10. As per the directions, necessary preparatory steps should be taken to ensure the success of this program. Samagra Shiksha state project director B Srinivasa Rao, issued operational guidelines to additional district project coordinators of Samagra Shiksha, district education officers, regional joint directors and district collectors regarding the implementation of the programme. He requested RJDs to coordinate with DEOs, APCs, and mandal educational officers (MEOs) within their jurisdiction and ensure close monitoring. He clarified that the Mega PTM, earlier scheduled for July 5, will now be conducted on July 10. On this occasion, director of school education Vijay Rama Raju V and Samagra Shiksha SPD B Srinivasa Rao, addressed RJDs, DEOs, APCs and other officers via video conference and gave necessary instructions. They said the Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) serves as a key platform to strengthen the bond between parents, teachers, and schools and PTMs help parents understand their child's academic progress, behavior, and social challenges, while also allowing teachers to seek their cooperation for the child's benefit. As per the orders, the Mega PTM 2.0 will be held in 61,135 educational institutions, with an expected participation of 2,28,21,454 people, including 74,96,228 students, 3,32,770 teachers and 1,49,92,456 parents, donors and others. Back to school: Students greeted with ‘tilak', petal shower, kheer
LUCKNOW Lakhs of students at government-run primary and upper primary schools in UP were welcomed back from the summer vacation on Tuesday with a tilak, along with garlands, other activities and served kheer as part of mid-day meals. Public awareness about school enrolment was promoted through digital platforms and special emphasis was laid on participation of girls. As part of initiatives towards environmental protection, tree plantation programmes were organised in schools under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. The second phase of the campaign, launched by the basic education department, will continue till July 15. It is crucial because there has been a sharp decline in student enrolment, with 48 lakh fewer students in government primary and upper primary schools in the 2025-26 session compared to last year when enrolment was pegged at 1.48 crore students. UP basic education minister Sandeep Singh said: 'The second phase of 'School Chalo Abhiyan' by the UP government has started in a festive atmosphere. It is being run with the resolve to ensure door-to-door contact, special focus on enrolment of girls and access to children deprived of school. We are ensuring that no child is left behind in the new academic session.' In Lucknow, all the 47 students enrolled at primary school in Ahmamau turned up on Tuesday, as per the school's MDM register, said assistant teacher Sarika. Only one-third of students were present at the primary school, Mirzapur, in Gosainganj area of Lucknow. Out of 63, some 20-odd students were present, said head teacher Abha Sonkar. At the primary school in Tandola, located in the Marauri block of Pilibhit district, students were garlanded and applied 'roli chandan' on the first day of school, according to a post on X by the UP basic education department. APPEAL TO PARENTS In primary school, Amkheda, in Jalaun district, teachers and children issued a digital appeal and requested the community to send their children to school. This innovation became an example to inspire social participation towards education. 'BETI PADHE, PRADESH BADHE' Girls were warmly welcomed in all Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) of the state, including Lakhimpur Kheri, Varanasi, Ambedkarnagar, Unnao, Sultanpur and Jaunpur. Under the leadership of the Yogi government, special priority is being given to the education of girls. PLANTATION & OTHER PROGRAMMES While Shiksha Yatra started with the worship of Maa Sharda in Block Kalan composite school, Jakhiya, in Shahjahanpur, students were welcomed with a petal shower and 'tilak' in schools located in Karimpur, Ayodhya. The message of education was conveyed to people through rallies, wall writings and cultural events from Prayagraj to Saharanpur. Newly admitted students were welcomed with 'roli-tika' and garlands at Adarsh Samvilian Vidyalay, Prayagraj. Books and stationery were distributed by chief guest, chief development officer Harshika Singh (IAS). She flagged off the children's rally and planted trees like Rudraksh, Parijat, Maulshree, Mahogany, etc, under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. The new session commenced at Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Schools, which were established to provide a brighter future for meritorious students from underprivileged, rural, and backwards communities across UP. An atmosphere of enthusiasm and positivity marked the first day at these state-run residential schools.
