Andhra's Bapatla Municipal High School gets a major facelift
GUNTUR: In a shining example of responsive governance and community-driven development, the Bapatla Municipal High School has undergone a complete transformation within a year, fulfilling a promise made by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu during a landmark event. On December 7 last year, a grand Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) was held on the school premises, where parents, teachers, and members of the School Management Committee collectively brought several long-standing infrastructure issues to the attention of the Chief Minister. Responding to their concerns on the same platform, Naidu assured immediate action and directed officials to upgrade the school within a year. True to his word, the school now boasts 24 newly constructed classrooms, a spacious dining hall, and well-equipped science laboratories. Local MLA Vegesana Narendra Varma Raju and Bapatla District Collector J Venkata Murali played a key role in ensuring the timely completion and maintaining the quality of the work. The transformation was executed at a rapid pace, setting a benchmark for government school development. HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh lauded the achievement, stating, 'We kept our word. I congratulate everyone who contributed to this remarkable transformation. I urge students and teachers to uphold the name of Bapatla Municipal High School by striving for academic excellence.' According to Bapatla District Education Officer S Purushottam, the school has 747 students and 27 teachers.

Mega PTM 2.0 draws 2.3 crore participants at 61k schools in Andhra
ANANTAPUR: In a landmark initiative, the Andhra Pradesh government organised Mega Parent Teacher Meeting (PTM) 2.0 on Thursday, drawing over 2.3 crore participants across 61,000 schools in the State in a single day. Spearheaded by HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, the PTM united students, parents, teachers, school management committees, officials, donors, and alumni to bolster the State's education system. Held on Guru Purnima, the PTM at the Zilla Parishad High School in Kothacheruvu, Puttaparthi, Sri Sathya Sai district, was attended by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who described schools as modern temples of knowledge, and urged collective responsibility to nurture them. The PTM, the second major initiative under the TDP-led NDA government, marked an unprecedented effort, with Lokesh noting, 'Never before has a parent-teacher meeting been conducted across the entire State in one day.' Now, the Mega PTM 2.0 with over 2.3 crore participants in a single day is set for an entry into Guinness World Records. Naidu, engaging directly with students, parents, and teachers, shared a personal anecdote about his wife Bhuvaneswari's dedication to their son Lokesh's education, ensuring his admission to prestigious institutions like Cambridge and Stanford. He praised Lokesh, now HRD Minister, for taking the responsibility of shaping the future of Andhra Pradesh's students. Naidu emphasised his commitment to elevating government schools to compete with private institutions.

PTM held to ensure holistic development of students
Banaganapalle: Minister for Roads & Buildings, Investments and Infrastructure, BC Janardhan Reddy, attended the Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) held at Zilla Parishad High School, Kolimigundla, under the Banaganapalle constituency on Thursday. The event, organised under the auspices of the State government for the second consecutive year, saw enthusiastic participation from parents, teachers and students. The PTM initiative, spearheaded by HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, aims to strengthen parent-teacher collaboration and ensure holistic development of students in government schools, offering education on par with private institutions. During the meeting, several issues concerning the school's infrastructure and student welfare were brought to the Minister's attention. These included the need for a dining hall to facilitate midday meals, repairs to damaged washrooms, incomplete disbursal of the 'Thalli Ki Vandanam' benefits, and lack of safe drinking water. Teachers also highlighted the absence of classroom doors, deteriorating building slabs and a shortage of funds to renovate three damaged classrooms. Responding positively, the Minister assured swift action and directed officials to address the issues without delay. Minister Janardhan Reddy further pledged to either repair the existing water purification plant or install a new one using his personal funds if necessary. He also announced plans to develop greenery within the school premises by planting saplings every 15 feet, promising to procure the plants from Kadiyam nurseries. With local borewells failing to yield water, he instructed officials to prepare proposals to draw drinking water from the Avuku reservoir as an alternative solution. In a humane gesture, the Minister intervened in the case of Niharika, a Class IX student suffering from paralysis, and instructed the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) to arrange daily physiotherapy sessions for her. Addressing transport concerns raised by students and parents, the Minister assured that RTC bus timings would be adjusted to suit school schedules. Highlighting the impact of the 'Thalli Ki Vandanam' scheme, he noted that over 9,000 students in the Kolimigundla mandal had benefited from the programme so far.

PTM held at 3,600 schools across Nellore
AParents-Teachers Meeting (PTM) was organised in 3,600 public and private schools across Nellore district to promote quality education. Minister Ponguru Narayana and Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakara Reddy participated in the event, which saw enthusiastic participation from local representatives, officials, parents, and children. Narayana credited human resources development minister Nara Lokesh with the PTM concept, aimed at addressing students' practical difficulties and personal problems. He noted that the dropout percentage in government schools had drastically decreased since the introduction of PTM. The minister appealed to philanthropists to adopt government schools under the P-4 concept to transform Nellore into an educational hub. Two schools, RSR Municipal High School and Mulapet Municipal School, were adopted by the Nellore MP and DSR Constructions, respectively, with promises of renovation by next year. Nellore municipal commissioner Y O Nandan, DEO Balaji Rao and others attended.

Shaping future of students collective responsibility: CM
Puttaparthi: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday stated that the responsibility of shaping a child's future lies not just with schools, but with every stakeholder - teachers, parents, and the state alike. It is a collective responsibility, he added. Attending the second edition of the mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM 2.0) at the Zilla Parishad High School in Kothacheruvu in the district, the Chief Minister gave priority to spend time with students, interacting with them. Schools, he said, are the 'modern-day temples' of society - and it is the duty of every citizen to safeguard and strengthen them. Organised on the occasion of Guru Pournima, the PTM 2.0 brought together an unprecedented 2.28 crore participants across 61,000 institutions - an event the CM suggested may well qualify for global records. Reflecting on the previous year's success when the first PTM was held across 44,000 government schools, the Chief Minister noted that this year's effort included private schools too - a testament to the inclusive vision of the government. He cited examples like Nellore, where government school seats were full with 'No Vacancy' boards, as a sign of rising trust in public education. Further, Naidu praised the 'Shining Stars Awards' to recognize high-performing students, with plans to ensure they receive admission into colleges of their choice. These steps reflect a long-term vision to prepare students for the knowledge-driven future that lies ahead, he added. Reaffirming the government's commitment to strengthening the teaching workforce, the Chief Minister recalled that one of the coalition government's first decisions was to sign on a Mega DSC to fill 16,347 teacher posts. All selected candidates are expected to complete training and report to their schools by August. He said that under his leadership, Andhra Pradesh has conducted 12 DSC recruitments, appointing a total of 1.66 lakh teachers- a stark contrast to the previous administration, which failed to issue even a single notification in five years. He criticised the former regime for causing unnecessary confusion with promises like TOEFL coaching and IB syllabi, none of which were fulfilled. In contrast, the current government has ensured transparent teacher transfers and is open to continuous suggestions from both parents and educators to improve the system, he added. Speaking on the occasion, HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, reflecting on his own school days, credited his mother Bhuvaneshwari's dedication for his academic progress, drawing a deeply personal connection to the broader mission grounded in family, duty, and public service. The Chief Minister talked about Lokesh's steadfast commitment to revamping government schools and delivering world-class learning to students across Andhra Pradesh. Having studied at some of the best institutions globally, Lokesh has chosen to dedicate his expertise to transforming public education in the state, he said. The coalition government, with a strong focus on excellence, is working to elevate government schools to compete confidently with private institutions, he added.
