Of course, there's stuff we all know about the LM002 already. We know about its wild styling, it's Countach-derived 5.2-liter V12 that put out 444 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque through a five-speed manual transmission to all four wheels. We know it was originally supposed to be a military vehicle that was turned into a civilian pickup truck of sorts. It's a wondrously strange machine.
Throughout its production run from 1986 to 1993, Lamborghini only produced 301 LM002s, so it's going to be by far the rarest vehicle I've ever driven. There are a few other nutty things about the LM002 you may not have been aware of, like the fact it has six Weber carburetors, 345-section tires and a 76-gallon fuel tank. I know. It's pretty mind-boggling.
It's really hard to put into words how damn excited I am to drive the LM002, so I'm going to let you all do the rest of the talking. Lamborghini's half-year operating profit slips on currency effects
MILAN (Reuters) -Italian luxury sports car maker Lamborghini said on Wednesday its operating income fell slightly in the first half even as it delivered record numbers of cars to customers, as currency effects weighed on its bottom line. Operating income stood at 431 million euros ($497 million) in the January to June period versus 458 million euros a year earlier, primarily due to unfavourable exchange rate trends in the second quarter, the company said in a statement. "The results... are solid despite global economic and political instability," CEO Stephan Winkelmann said. Net revenues amounted to 1.62 billion euros in the period as the carmaker, part of Germany's Volkswagen, delivered 5,681 cars, its highest amount ever for a first half. Its operating profit margin fell to 26.6% from 28.3% a year earlier. Winkelmann said the results confirmed that a decision to make all Lamborghini's range hybrid was the right one, as shown by the success of the Revuelto sportscar, its first plug-in hybrid, launched in 2023, and of the Urus SE SUV. "Our vision is shared by our customers," he said. "We now look forward to the market launch of the Temerario, which will complete the first fully hybrid range in the segment". Lamborghini, based near Bologna in Northern Italy, did not make any reference to Sunday's EU-U.S. framework trade deal, which imposed a 15% U.S. import tariff on most EU goods, despite the Americas region accounting for around 30% of its deliveries in the first half, or 1,732 cars. The Europe, Middle East and Africa region led deliveries in the period with 2,708 units, while Asia Pacific accounted for 1,241 units. Earlier this year Winkelmann said U.S. tariffs would have an impact on Lamborghini's revenue even though luxury product makers can pass on potential tariffs to customers, as there was a "sweet point" beyond which "you lose volumes". 2024 Lamborghini Urus Performance For Sale With Just 775 Miles
Imagine having a supercar that can haul your groceries and family while beating most other cars off the line. That's what the Lamborghini Urus did when it debuted in 2018. When the Performante was unveiled in 2022, it cranked up the Urus's performance even more, and one such 2024 Lamborghini Urus Performante with a mere 775 miles is now available on Exotic Car Trader. The 4.0 L FSI twin-turbo V8 of the regular Urus was upgraded to send 657 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. Lamborghini claims a 0-62 mph time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph. Yes, there are paddle shifters. Other performance-oriented changes include retuned suspension, a more rear-biased center differential, fixed-height coil springs, the removal of off-road drive modes, and optional Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires. Despite sharing components with other go-fast SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga, Audi Q7, and Porsche Cayenne, the Urus is the fastest production SUV in the world. That's not a title that just anyone can be proud of achieving. All that power needs an equally impressive setup to slow it down, and Lamborghini did just that by developing what was the world's largest set of carbon ceramic disc brakes at the time. This bull sports 17.32 in discs in the front and 14.57 in discs in the rear using ten-piston calipers at the front and single-piston calipers at the rear. This particular example is finished in Giallo Auge over a contrasting Nero Cosmus interior and sits on gorgeous multi-spoke 23" Pelope wheels. Other special touches include a panoramic roof, a full exterior carbon fiber package for that racey, lightweight look, and even an acoustic treatment for the glass. While that keeps the outside noise of the populace from creeping into your cabin, we hope the roar of that twin-turbo V8 can still make its way to your ears. The regular tech features you've come to expect from modern cars are, of course, present, including a digital gauge cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a premium sound system, and the Park Assistance Package. Now the Lamborghini Urus's main duty is going fast and looking good while doing it, but like I mentioned, it still has more cargo space than your Murcielago would. It's an SUV, after all, just don't expect it to be as cavernous as a regular run-of-the-mill SUV. The rear of the Urus can haul nearly 22 cu ft of cargo, or 56.4 cu ft if the rear seats are folded down. Speaking of those rear seats, they could be configured from the factory as either a three-person bench or two-person sport seats, further adding to the practicality. The Lamborghini Urus by itself is an impressive beast from the Italian marque known for consistently producing raging bulls, but the Performante is an entirely different story altogether. Being able to reach nearly 200 mph after a Costco run isn't a feat that many cars can boast about, but the Urus Performante does it without breaking a sweat. This example on Exotic Car Trader isn't just a regular Urus Performante either, though, with its extremely low mileage, full carbon fiber package, and acoustic glass treatment. All things considered, the $296,500 asking price seems fairly reasonable, and with its bright yellow color and flashy wheels, you'll certainly stand out in the sea of monochrome SUVs. Seven-Passenger Lucid Gravity Crushes The Quarter-Mile Quicker Than Its SUV Competition — And Most Supercars
Did you ever imagine living in a world where massive seven-seat crossovers and SUVs are faster than most of today's supercars? Well, folks, that's the world we're now living in. And, at the top of the mega-fast crossover game, we've got the Lucid Gravity Grand Touring Dream Edition. It just beat out competition like the Rivian R1S Quad, Porsche Macan EV Turbo and Audi RS Q8 Performance in Jason Cammisa's latest Ultimate Drag Race video for Hagerty. In the video, which also features the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and Range Rover Sport SV, the Gravity Dream Edition with its 1,070 horsepower, 909 pound-feet of torque and 6,045 pounds of weight finished the quarter-mile sprint in just 10.5 seconds. That's the same as the Panamera and R1S, but crucially the Gravity was pulling nearly half a G when it crossed the line, and its 139 mph trap speed was 8 mph higher than the Panamera and 11 mph higher than the Rivian, the latter of which was pushing up on its 130-mph limiter. Behind those three vehicles were the Macan, which finished in 11 seconds at 124 mph, the RS Q8 at 11.6 seconds and 117 mph, and the Range Rover Sport SV with 11.9 seconds at 118 mph. Clearly, normal crossovers and SUVs won't cut it when it comes to this vehicle. Cammisa's 10.5-second quarter-mile time and 139-mph trap speed are identical to what he saw in the McLaren 750S. It's also quicker than the Corvette Z06, Ferrari F8, Bentley Continental GT Speed and Mercedes-AMG GT63 — all cars that he has tested in the past on the same track. That's bananas. To be fair to the other vehicles Cammisa tested it against, the Gravity Dream Edition makes a lot more power than most of them. The closest you'll find is the R1S Quad, which has 1,025 hp and 1,198 lb-ft of torque. Both of those SUVs make nearly double the Macan Turbo's 630 hp and 883 lb-ft of torque. The RS Q8 and Range Rover also lag behind, putting out 631 hp and 626 hp from their twin-turbo V8s, respectively. Finally, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid lays down a gnarly 771 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque, but it's still not enough to overcome the Gravity or the R1S Quad. We're living in a brave new world when it comes to EV crossover acceleration, and I don't expect it to change anytime soon. Want more like this?
