HH Sayyid Bilarab visits eMushrif
The company specializes in providing safe and smart school transportation using the latest technologies related to student safety, in addition to the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI). This visit reflects HH Sayyid Bilarab's keenness on supporting and empowering Omani startups and enhancing their role in the national economy.
Sayyid Bilarab reviewed the company's most prominent solutions for student safety on school buses, including equipping them with smart electronic devices that enable parents and service providers to monitor the safety of their children through smartphone applications, IoT technologies, artificial intelligence and big data analysis.
The company reviewed its expansion plans in several regional countries as it has offices and subsidiaries in the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Kuwait, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Turkey.
At the conclusion of the visit, Sayyid Bilarab commended the company's efforts in advanced technologies, its technological progress and its regional expansion. He emphasized the important role played by startups in promoting innovation and building a sustainable economic future.
Sayyid Bilarab was accompanied during the visit by Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation; Halima Rashid al Zar'aiyah, Chairperson of the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Engineer Said bin Abdullah al Mandhari, CEO, ITHCA Group.
The visit is part of a series of visits by HH Sayyid Bilarab to support startups. It is his second visit, following his visit to Thawani last April to learn about the company's specialized digital financial solutions and services.

MTCIT launches gaming development camp to build digital skills
Muscat – Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology launched a video game development training camp to equip young jobseekers with skills in one of the world's fastest-growing digital sectors on Sunday. The initiative, launched in partnership with Al Nahda Training Institute and Unity – a global leading platform to create games and interactive experiences – is part of the ministry's Makeen programme to support national digital capabilities. Held at Al Araimi Boulevard in Seeb, the event was inaugurated under the patronage of H E Dr Ali bin Amer al Shidhani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology. The camp will train 50 Omanis across two tracks – game programming and animation design – over 24 weeks. Participants will receive both theoretical instruction and hands-on training under the supervision of local and international experts. Jalila bint Abdullah al Fanna al Araimi, Director of the ministry's Future Skills Development Department, said the programme is designed to prepare youth for the global gaming market. 'The initiative aims to empower jobseekers with a talent for game development by offering practical experience within technology incubators and the opportunity to work on original digital projects,' she said. She added that the collaboration with Unity marks the first such partnership in the sultanate. 'Unity's technologies power over 50 percent of digital games worldwide. This partnership will help transfer global expertise to Oman,' she said. The programme is also expected to support the establishment of digital startups in Oman's gaming sector. Sheikh Humaid bin Juma al Shamsi, Member of the Majlis A'Shura and Chairman of the Board of Al Nahda Training Institute, said the gaming industry is evolving into a complex knowledge-based economy. 'This unique initiative is part of wider efforts to empower Omani youth with digital skills, which have become a key pillar of modern economies,' he said. 'The video game industry today combines programming, design, artificial intelligence and creativity. This camp offers a practical platform to prepare youth for this global sector.' The Makeen programme is part of Oman's broader digital transformation strategy under Vision 2040, aimed at positioning the sultanate as a regional hub for innovation and emerging technologies.

Major agri-tourism projects on the anvil in Jabal Akhdar
Jabal Akhdar – Dakhliyah authorities are advancing plans to transform Jabal Akhdar into a hub for integrated agricultural and eco-tourism development with new investment projects announced during a high-level meeting held last week in the wilayat. Chaired by Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed al Hajri, Governor of Dakhliyah, the meeting brought together Sheikh Sultan Mansour al Ghaithy, Wali of Jabal Akhdar, and Masoud Sulaiman al Azri, Director General of Agricultural and Fisheries Marketing at Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. The proposed project includes several key components, most notably a honey museum featuring exhibits on the history of Omani bees, a sorting unit, a laboratory and space for environmental education. Also planned is a rose farm, a rosewater distillation factory with public viewing area and retail space for locally produced rose products. The investment plan further includes development of an olive farm and a public park, aimed at promoting sustainable tourism practices tied to local agriculture. Officials confirmed that the project will be implemented under a corporate investment system in partnership with private sector entities. A joint technical team has been formed comprising governorate and ministry officials to assess rainwater harvesting and terrace rehabilitation projects. The objective, according to officials, is to improve water resource efficiency and preserve the traditional mountain farming heritage. Following the meeting, the governor conducted a site visit to review ongoing agricultural efforts across the wilayat.

Oman, China explore deeper ties at Salalah forum
Salalah – The third Omani-Chinese Friendship Forum was held in Salalah last week focusing on strengthening strategic partnership and expanding avenues of cooperation and investment between Oman and China. Organised under the theme 'Chinese Modernisation and Oman Vision 2040: Our Work and Proposals', the forum was a joint initiative of Al Roya newspaper, the Chinese Embassy in Oman and the Oman-China Friendship Association. It brought together officials, experts and specialists from both countries. H H Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, inaugurated the forum and felicitated participants and speakers. H E Dr Saleh Said Masan, Undersecretary for Commerce and Industry at Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, described the forum as a 'unique opportunity to exchange expertise and explore promising investment areas that serve the development priorities of both countries.' H E Lyu Jian, Ambassador of China to Oman, said relations between the two countries have remained strong for over 1,200 years, with diplomatic ties formally established in 1978. 'Our cooperation has been stable and fruitful, built on mutual respect and equality.' He added that China is Oman's top trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching US$36.7bn in 2024. China is also among the top five foreign investors in Oman. 'Our collaboration includes the launch of the first Omani satellite, joint energy investments and training programmes that have benefited over 1,200 Omanis.' The ambassador noted that trade between China and the GCC reached US$288bn in 2024, with Chinese investments increasing by more than 30% in the first half of 2025. He called for more cultural cooperation and the introduction of direct flights between Oman and China. Dr Khalid Salim al Saidi, Chairman of Oman-China Friendship Association, said it plays a 'vital role in strengthening ties beyond formal meetings'. He added that its work now includes building cultural bridges and informal cooperation initiatives based on mutual values. Naif Hamed Fadhil, Head of the Dhofar branch of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the forum is 'important for bringing business owners closer and enabling bilateral investment in energy, technology, industry, logistics and tourism'. He called for the development of sustainable and impactful cooperation models. The forum featured discussions on four core themes: Chinese Modernisation and Oman Vision 2040, Energy Sector Cooperation, Innovation and Technology Partnerships, and Cultural and Humanitarian Exchange. It also included a photo exhibition in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy and B2B meetings between companies from the two countries. More than 30 representatives from Omani and Chinese firms took part, with a dedicated exhibition showcasing Chinese businesses. The forum aimed to reinforce strategic ties and explore new collaboration areas aligned with Oman's development priorities, while drawing from China's experience in economic and social modernisation.
