India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has spoken candidly about the emotional toll of his divorce from Dhanashree Verma , revealing he was wrongly branded a 'cheater' and suffered intense mental health struggles , including suicidal thoughts In a deeply personal conversation on the Raj Shamani Podcast , Chahal said the split had been in discussion for some time, even though it appeared sudden to the public.'After my divorce, I was called a cheater. But I have never cheated in my life. I'm extremely loyal — probably more than most. For my loved ones, I've always thought from the heart,' he said. The 34-year-old admitted he went through a dark phase emotionally, struggling to cope with public judgment amid his separation.'I had suicidal thoughts. I was tired of my life. I would cry for two hours a day, sleep just two hours. This went on for over 40 days. I had anxiety attacks, depression. Only those close to me knew what I was going through,' he shared. The mental strain pushed him to consider stepping away from cricket, though he eventually chose to continue.Reflecting on the separation, Chahal pointed to increasing professional commitments as a contributing factor.'It was going on for a while. We decided we wouldn't go public until we were sure. On social media, we looked like a normal couple, but the issues had started to build up. A relationship requires compromise — if both people are always busy, there's bound to be distance,' he explained.Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma's divorce was finalized in early 2025, with the Bombay High Court waiving the six-month cooling-off period and directing the Bandra Family Court to expedite the process. The final decree of divorce was granted on March 20, 2025. They had been living separately for over two and a half years.Chahal also addressed the speculation and gossip that followed the divorce, calling it deeply hurtful.'Just because you are seen with someone, people link you up. I have two sisters. I know how to respect women,' he said.Chahal denied the rumours about dating influencer RJ Mahvash. 'No, there's nothing. People can think whatever they want to think," said Yuzi.He further shared how his and Mahavash's every outing and spotting was taken out of context-- from their appearance at the Champions Trophy or Christmas dinner with friends.Elaborating on the same, he said, 'We had a Christmas dinner with five people, but the photo was cropped to make it look like just the two of us were on a dinner date.'.He also recalled a video, which went viral when Mahavash offered Yuzi a pickup ride to the airport. The two were standing outside a hotel when someone recorded them, 'I was just fixing my hair, and people started saying all sorts of cheap things. That really hurt me.'On whether he's open to love again, Chahal admitted, 'It will take time to process. I need to gather myself. I'm not afraid to fall in love again, but I'm scared of losing the person because I get attached with all my heart.'One viral moment — his appearance in court wearing a T-shirt with the message 'Be your own sugar daddy' — was his way of responding without creating more controversy.'I didn't want drama, but something happened from the other side. So, I gave my message through the T-shirt. I didn't abuse anyone,' he clarified.Despite the turmoil, Chahal said the separation was ultimately peaceful. 'If things happen between two people, they can still happen peacefully,' he added.Currently, Chahal is playing county cricket for Northamptonshire. He recently picked up a six-wicket haul (6/118) in the first innings against Derbyshire in the County Championship Division Two.

'Saw Virat Kohli Crying': Yuzvendra Chahal Makes Stunning Revelation, Shares Untold Story
Veteran Indian cricket team spinner Yuzvendra Chahal revealed that he saw almost every player of the national team, including Virat Kohli, cry after the loss in the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. India lost the rain-threatened match by 18 runs on the reserve day after failing to chase a 240-run target. Chahal recently opened up about the difference between Virat and Rohit Sharma when it comes to captaincy and shared untold stories from the Indian cricket team dressing room. 'I love how Rohit bhaiya carries himself on the ground. He's a very good captain. With Virat bhaiya, it's the energy he brings, the same energy every day. It will only go up and never down. Same energy. Every day," Chahal said on the Figuring Out With Raj Shamani podcast. When asked whether he has even seen Virat Kohli crying, he shared the story from 2019. '2019 World Cup, I saw him crying in the bathroom," Chahal said. 'And then I was the last batter, when I was crossing him, he had tears in his eyes. In 2019, I saw everyone crying in the bathroom." Chahal also revealed that he regrets his own performance in the match as he ended up conceding 63 runs in 10 overs while taking just one wicket against New Zealand. 'It was Mahi bhai's last match. I could have done better. I still regret that. I could have pushed myself a bit more, bowled a bit better, and leaked 10-15 fewer runs. But sometimes you are in that flow, it happens so quickly that you don't get time to think. I thought if I was calmer I could have done even better. I gave my best but it was the semi-final, a bigger stage and you have to give your 10-15% extra," he said. Chahal also opened up on his relation with his ex-wife Dhanashree Verma, who is an actor-choreographer, in a recent podcast. Chahal and Dhanashree were granted divorce by the Mumbai family court in March this year, ending their five-year marriage. The duo tied the knot in December 2020 but as per their petition, they separated in June 2022. In February this year, the couple filed a joint petition before the family court seeking divorce by mutual consent. Now, Chahal has revealed that he has not texted or talked to Dhanashree for a long time now. He added that after 2024 T20 World Cup, the couple was left with formal talks only. "I had not seen her for a very long time, and then I saw her on a video call, where the lawyers spoke to us. That's it, no message or anything after that. Before the divorce, we weren't on talking terms for six to seven months. We would talk only if there was something very important; otherwise, nothing. It was like that for a while, but after the T20 World Cup, it started properly," said Chahal.

Yuzvendra Chahal On RJ Mahvash Being Called A "Homewrecker" After His Divorce From Dhanashree Verma: "We Couldn't Step Out Together"
New Delhi: Yuzvendra Chahal recently opened up about the dating rumours surrounding his relationship with RJ Mahvash after his divorce from Dhanashree Verma. The cricketer clarified that he is not dating Mahvash and slammed people who called her a 'homewrecker'. In an interview with Raj Shamani, Yuzvendra was asked if anything is going on with Mahvash or anyone else. To which, the cricketer replied, "No, there's nothing. People can think whatever they want to think.' He shared that it will take some time to move on from his previous relationship, sharing that he needs to gather himself first." He added, "For the first time, when I was seen with someone, people started linking us right away. Even though she clarified it, it was very hard for her. She was called a homewrecker… people said really nasty things. I felt terrible… We could not step out together.' Talking about their pictures from Christmas dinner, Yuzvendra stated that it was blown out of proportion.'We had a Christmas dinner with five people, but the photo was cropped to make it look like just the two of us were on a dinner date. It got to a point where we couldn't even go out with friends without worrying about what people would say," he said. Another incident that irked him was when they were spotted together at a hotel before he left for the airport, which further fueled the dating rumour. Yuzvendra said, 'She offered to drop me, and while we were waiting for the car, someone recorded a video. I was just fixing my hair, and people started saying all sorts of cheap things, like we were coming out of a hotel room. That really hurt me. It was very upsetting." Yuzvendra Chahal and RJ Mahvash first sparked dating rumours when they were spotted together on multiple occasions amid the cricketer's split from his ex-wife, Dhanashree Verma. Despite Mahvash's constant denial of a romantic relationship, photos and videos of them together at a Champions Trophy match fueled the dating rumour. Over time, their interactions have become more affectionate, with Mahvash praising Chahal's IPL performances and Chahal referring to her as his rock during the tough times in his life.
