Hugo Lloris behind Riviera FC rebrand
LAFC goalkeeper and former France international Hugo Lloris (38) is behind the rebrand of a club on the French Riviera.
Lloris, a shareholder and ambassador of the formerly named VSJB FC (Villefranche Saint-Jean Beaulieu FC), and club president Cédric Messina are behind a complete rebrand of the club, which will see it renamed Riviera FC.

The rebrand is part of attempts to grow the club, currently in the National 3, which not only entails making a climb up the ladder in the French game, but also improving its training of young players. Notably, the club has a partnership with the Zidane Académie, a partnership signed with the perspective of improving the level of training provided for the younger players.
'Today, we are at a turning point for the club,' said Messina in a press release marking the rebrand. 'By becoming Riviera FC, we are affirming a renewed ambition.'
Last season, Riviera FC finished sixth in their National 3 group. The rebrand, instigated by Lloris, it is hoped will raise the club to new heights.

If you needed another reason to root for Pittsburgh Steelers tight end, this is it. Former Steelers wide receiver George Pickens had committed to his youth football camp in Pittsburgh. This is fairly common as players run these camps all the time. But Pickens decided at the last minute to back out, leaving the camp without a Steelers presence. But Freiermuth didn't let Pickens bail without coming in and saving the day. Freiermuth didn't have to do it and it wasn't his camp but he still stepped up and replaced Pickens, saving the camp and the experience for the kids. Advertisement Pickens was traded from the Steelers to the Dallas Cowboys just after the 2025 NFL draft, which we presume prompted Pickens to decide those kids weren't important enough to make the trip back. Pickens' potential for immaturity and pettiness seems to know no limits, and this is just the latest example. Pickens came into the league with significant character concerns and, after showing no real growth, was traded away. Meanwhile Freiermuth saved the day for those kids and proved once again why he's maybe the most underrated player on the team. Nantes captain Pedro Chirivella joins Panathinaikos
Nantes have announced that club captain Pedro Chirivella (28) has joined Panathinaikos. The Spanish midfielder arrived in Ligue 1 five years ago upon the expiry of his Liverpool contract. The Valencia CF youth product has since been elected captain and has been a key member in Les Canaris' midfield and was a part of the club's Coupe de France triumph back in 2022. Chirivella was to enter his final contract year with Nantes. Eventually, he would pursue his career in Greece. 'An exemplary captain, Pedro always wore our colors with pride and determination. A respected leader both on and off the pitch, he left his mark on the history of FC Nantes', added the club in a statement.
