DES MOINES, Iowa — Just before 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, the Polk County Sheriff's Office was called to Storage Rentals of America on reports of a fire.
According to a press release, the storage facility is located on the north side of Des Moines at 3244 NW Prairie Lane.

Arriving deputies found several units fully engulfed and called in support personnel from Johnston-Grimes, Altoona, Bondurant, Ankeny, Pleasant Hill, Saylor Township, and Delaware Township to help extinguish the fire.

He was fired from the camp after his colleagues said they observed the cruelty. Cops nabbed the ex-counselor after spotting him at the camp's entrance sitting in his car, the Livingston Police Department said in a Facebook post. 'Threats to this community, especially involving our children, will always be taken seriously. I commend the quick and thorough investigation by the Sheriff's Office, as well as the response by our officers,' Livingston police Chief Matt Parrish said in a statement. The former counselor was charged with a terror threat impeding public service and is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Cocky fugitive's social media challenge to sheriff backfires in spectacular fashion
A wanted Florida man has been arrested after a series of social media posts taunting the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Sheriff Grady Judd for not being able to catch him. The Polk County Sheriff's Office and Lakeland Police Department shared a series of Facebook posts by 29-year-old Aaron Donta Johnson, who was a wanted man for violating a pretrial release condition. 'Ya'll too busy fishing dats why yall didn't catch me when I left my grandmas house today,' Johnson said in one post to Judd's department. 'Should've waited a bit longer. Yall accepted da challenge right. #GradyCan't FindMe #ComeAgainGrady.' The posts, laden with poor grammar and bad spelling, appeared to be a dig towards Judd and his department for being too late to the scene. But that did not stop Judd and his team from responding to Johnson and taking on the challenge. 'Spoken like a true man. Way to take responsibility for your actions,' the sheriff's office wrote. Polk County sheriff's deputies were called to the home in Davenport by a neighbor who was tasked with watching over the residence while the homeowner was away — and who noticed a flurry of suspicious activity on June 9, according to a release from the department. The 44-year-old justified the infraction by revealing that he had gotten into a fight with his wife four days earlier and broke into the random house to avoid returning home to face her wrath. Despite the excuse, Joe was hit with felony unarmed burglary, misdemeanor petit theft, and domestic battery, the Miami Herald reported.
