Italian Oasis fans recreate iconic Manchester street Renaissance photo
In 2016, photographer Joel Goodman captured a Manchester street strewn with drunk revellers on New Year's Eve.
First appearing on the Manchester Evening News, the photo shows police wrestling a man in the foreground, crowds outside a Greggs and a man who looks ready to be drawn like a French girl with his belly half out.
The snap went viral on social media, with users recreating it as a watercolour painting or using the man as their artistic muse.
Others found it almost perfectly flowed with the golden ratio – a snail shell-shaped proportion frequently found in nature and paintings.
A lot has changed in the nearly 10 years since the Well Street Renaissance photo was taken, but it doesn't seem anyone has forgotten about it.
Mancunian Ross posted on Bluesky about how she was leaving the pub when she spotted 'young-ish people frolicking on a random side street'.
'They're all wearing black, have got their phones out and are in odd positions on the pavement and in the side street,' she said.
'They seem to be yelling directions at each other. After a second of observing, I realise. 'Are you all trying to recreate the accidental Renaissance picture?!' 'YES!!!''
The group of art lovers had travelled to Manchester from Italy to see Oasis perform in Heaton for Liam and Noel Gallagher's Live '25 Tour.
Ross said she decided to help out the Adidas-clad fans recreate Goodman's photograph by pretending to be one of the officers.
'We got chatting and (although I had to admit my general neutrality towards Oasis) I was effusive about how much I love this city after over a decade of living here and that they should all visit again,' Ros added.
'It was so, so lovely. Supersonic! Molto bene!'
And other Bluesky users agreed. 'Recreating the masterpiece,' said Daniel Savage, an artist. 'What a joyful thing in this miserable world.' More Trending
Simon Smith, a journalist, added: 'This is one of the best artistic statements ever made by any Italians. Ever.'
Goodman, the man behind the original photo, felt the same – and for a very important reason.
'You've got to love these Oasis fans travelling from Italy to celebrate Mancunian culture,' he told Metro.
'As artificial intelligence (AI) saps the humanity and diversity from the world's creative wonders, it warms my soul to see people celebrate their love for music and photographs that reflect real human experiences, only made possible because they were created by humans.'

‘I was photographing Noel Gallagher in Moscow — then the KGB showed up'
I f you religiously read NME before the turn of the millennium, the chances are you've seen one of your favourite musicians through Lawrence Watson's lens. For the past 45 years, the Londoner has been behind the scenes at album shoots, recording sessions and record label meetings that helped to shape the sound and style of the century, shooting everyone from Oasis and Blur to Snoop Dogg and David Bowie. From a nonchalant Liam Gallagher swathed in a Union Jack flag to Grace Jones lounging across the famous light-up dance floor at Stepney's nightclub (once featured in Pulp's Common People music video), many music fans will recognise some of the defining shots in his extensive archive. At the time Watson began his career at the NME in the early 1980s, he'd already set his sights on becoming a documentary photographer. 'I went to a scrappy comprehensive school on the Cally Road in north London — the same one as John Lydon from the Sex Pistols,' he tells The Times. 'After passing my art O-level, I managed to get a job in a darkroom in Old Street on the government's Youth Opportunity Scheme. All my heroes were Magnum photographers, so I spent my free time shooting the H-Block marches and the National Front.'

Inside Oasis' wild afterparties with footballers and free booze as they let loose
Liam and Noel Gallagher certainly know how to put on a party as they have been treating their VIP guests to a free bar and music into the early hours as they tour the UK Oasis have certainly returned in style, and it seems the shows have been carrying on into the night long after Liam and Noel Gallagher walk off stage. The Manchester icons put their long-running feud aside to the delight of fans and kicked off their 2025 world tour earlier this month. They made their epic comeback in Cardiff, before heading over to their beloved hometown for a series of shows at Heaton Park. Liam and Noel are set to return to the capital this weekend for the first time since 2009. Amid all the attention on stage, it seems there has been plenty of action going on backstage as well. Footballers including Jack Grealish and Phil Foden have rubbed shoulders with Noel and The Verve's Richard Ashcroft, who has been opening for Oasis each night. After their first show at Heaton Park, Manchester City's Grealish is said to have kicked off the partying as he hooked up his phone to a speaker. In a tongue-in-cheek move, he reportedly blasted out Westlife tunes to Happy Mondays' Shaun Ryder and former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany. 'It's been a proper love-in backstage,' a source told The Independent. 'There's a friends and family bar which is basically free booze – Guinness on draft (of course), beer, wine and champagne. It's like going to a wedding every night.' They explained support acts Cast and Richard Ashcroft have been "having the time of their lives" while Liam and Noel's guests have been partying with each other. Another source claimed to the publication that Noel has "never smiled to much" as he soaks up the atmosphere after each show. Oasis will head to Wembley this weekend, with many fans predicting they will pay tribute to rock icon Ozzy Osbourne. The band has already paid tribute to the late Liverpool football player Diogo Jota, who died in a car crash in Spain on July 3 along with his brother. The Prince of Darkness once showed support to the band as he said: "Everybody says they [Oasis] rip them [The Beatles] off, but I don't think so. "It's dead easy to start a forest fire in this game. You say 'Ozzy's got a false nose.' All of a sudden, everyone looks the same. Same thing with Oasis. Everyone just kept saying it and it stuck." Ozzy's defence of the band has been praised by fans who believe the Gallagher brothers should pay tribute to the late singer. Fans believe a tribute to the beloved singer is an inevitable addition to the show. One user wrote: "Big picture of him during Live Forever at the next show, guarantee it." Another added: "I'll be shocked if there isn't at least his face on screen during Live Forever. Noel's always spoken very highly of him in return, and they used to be neighbours. Plus he does a f**king great Ozzy impression." Many fans believe Live Forever will be dedicated to Osbourne, as was the case for the Cardiff kick-off shows which paid tribute to Jota.
