UFC Fighter's Gruesome Eye Injury Gets Surprising Update
Yahya squared off against Steven Nguyen in a featherweight bout but did not fare well, with Yahya officially getting knocked down six times over two rounds before the fight was stopped by doctors because of his eye.
While there was plenty of concern and a belief that Yahya had suffered some kind of facial fracture, that turned out not to be the case.
According to Bloody Elbow's Christopher De Santiago, UFC commentator John Gooden revealed that Yahya surprisingly did not suffer any facial fractures and CT scans came back negative.
Nguyen, who picked up his first victory in the UFC with the TKO victory over Yahya, scored an extra $50,000 for his showing after it was named one of the "Performance of the Night" winners.
Nguyen soundly dominated the fight from the jump, and his six knockdowns on Yahya amounted to a UFC record.
Nguyen sports a 10-2 MMA record overall and is now 1-1 in the UFC. Meanwhile, Yahya is still searching for his first UFC win after three bouts and holds a 12-6 MMA record for his career.

UFC Parts Ways With Heavyweight Despite 7-1 Run, Community Reacts
The UFC's heavyweight division is in arguably its worst state in history, but that didn't stop the promotion from making a perplexing decision that made the news rounds on Thursday, July 31. According to multiple reports, the UFC parted ways with 33-year-old Slovakian heavyweight contender Martin Buday. Buday fought out his contract with a unanimous decision win over Marcus Buchecha at UFC Abu Dhabi on July 26. Buday took to social media to confirm the news. Buday moved up to No. 12 in the promotion's rankings with the win and ran his record to 16-2 overall and 7-1 with the UFC, but the decision-makers still went another direction. Predictably, many in the MMA universe took to social media to question the move made by Dana White and Co. Setanta Sports social media manager Giorgi Kokiashvili called the move 'insane.' Tapology's Marcel Dorff called White out for making a move that contradicts his supposed desire to add heavyweights to the roster. Popular MMA social media account ACD MMA says the UFC heavyweight division is on life support. Buday could be a prime candidate to sign with the Professional Fighters League. If he goes that route, he could even find himself in a position to face someone like Francis Ngannou down the road. That fight would likely pay him more than he's made in all of his fights with the UFC combined. Buday's win in Abu Dhabi was his third straight victory. His only loss with the UFC came at the hands of No. 11 Shamil Gaziev in December 2023 at UFC 296. Before that, he smashed his way onto the UFC's roster on the Contender Series in October 2021 when he scored a first-round KO win over Lorenzo Hood. He then won three consecutive decisions over Chris Barnett, Lukasz Brzeski, and Jake Collier before securing a first-round finish over Josh Parisian in August 2023. While Buday is not the kind of fighter who pops off the screen or who has had a myriad of spectacular finishes to his credit, he's a proven winner. Even more puzzling is the UFC dropping a heavyweight who's only 33. That's very young for the division, considering many fight into their 40s. While there could be other elements behind the scenes that many are unaware of, there's also the possibility that the UFC is simply clearing spots for a new crop of heavyweights. As we sit on the cusp of another season of Contender Series, which kicks off in August, the UFC is looking for the next group of fighters who can carry divisions. Clearly, Buday was seen as expendable.

UFC on ESPN 71's Karol Rosa has escaped 'turmoil' and found happiness with new team
LAS VEGAS – Karol Rosa is glowing ahead of UFC on ESPN 71, and she is confident that will result in a winning performance against Nora Cornolle. Rosa (18-7 MMA, 7-4 UFC) meets Cornolle (9-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) in a women's bantamweight bout on Saturday at the UFC Apex (ESPN, ESPN+), and after relocating her life to Sao Paulo and starting a new team with former UFC champion Jessica Andrade, she said her mindset is unflappable as she dials in on victory. "I've changed my attitude and I've started seeing happiness," Rosa told MMA Junkie through an interpreter at Wednesday's media day. "I am feeling happy right now and I understand in my last fight there was just a lot of turmoil. I was already with my new team, but there was so much going on and there was a lot on my mind and I don't think I was in a good place mentally. I can tell you right now, I'm very happy this week. And this is not the good moment. This is the sad moment where we're cutting weight, and I'm feeling happy. When I'm happy, I'm happy to perform. You will see on Saturday what the happiness brings as far as performance." Rosa, 30, enters UFC on ESPN 71 with a wealth of experience and is still young at 30. She hopes this is the beginning of her best moments in the octagon in a 135-pound division currently ruled by Kayla Harrison, and thinks Cornolle fights in a way that will lend to a standout performance. "She's got a style that I like to fight," Rosa said. "She likes her striking, so she wants to do muay-Thai, and I do believe I have the strength there. The way that I strike, the way the smart striking happens for me – I think I'm a smarter striker."

Banger alert: UFC Paris adds Benoit Saint-Denis vs. Mauricio Ruffy
A lightweight banger is headed to Paris. Benoit Saint Denis and Mauricio Ruffy will collide Sept. 6 at UFC Fight Night 258 at Accor Arena. Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. Saint Denis' gym, Bulgarian Top Team, first announced the fight. Saint Denis (14-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) bounced back May 10 when he defeated short-notice replacement Kyle Prepolec by second-round submission. Prior to that win, Saint Denis was finished in back-to-back fights against Dustin Poirier and Renato Moicano. Ruffy (12-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) will join his Fighting Nerds teammate Caio Borralho, who headlines the card vs. Nassourdine Imavov. One of the hottest rising lightweights, Ruffy has wowed viewers with his capoeira style, which was on full display in his most recent outing when he knocked out King Green with a spinning wheel kick in March. With the addition, the UFC Fight Night 285 lineup includes:
