Free STPM Tamil guidebook for 700 students nationwide
The resource was developed by a team of academics, including professors and Form Six teachers. Saraswathy emphasised that the guidebook will be distributed annually to STPM Tamil students nationwide, particularly those without access to Tamil language teachers.
She noted that the Ministry of Education had previously published a similar guidebook in 2018. 'This new publication continues the government's efforts to expand Tamil reference materials and mitigate teacher shortages,' she said during the launch of 'Buku Panduan STPM Bahasa Tamil'.
The International Association for Tamil Research (IATR) spearheaded the guidebook's publication, which is not yet commercially available. Saraswathy urged schools to acquire copies to assist students ahead of the STPM exams.
At the event, she presented the guidebook to 100 students, stating, 'This book will serve as a vital reference and help bridge gaps in Tamil language education.'

IPOH, July 19 (Bernama) -- A reunion gathering of former students and teachers of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Perak Sangeetha Sabah held here today is seen as a positive step toward positioning the school as a model Tamil school in Perak. 'Many of the alumni now hold prominent positions and can contribute ideas and support to help enhance the school's performance,' she said at the Celebrating 90 Years of Memories reunion event, which was attended by about 50 alumni. Also present was MIC Vice President Tan Sri M. Ramasamy. Meanwhile, Ramasamy described Sangeetha Sabah as more than just a school—calling it an institution and a symbol of dedication to learning, heritage, and the values that unite the community. 'This reunion is not merely a return to the past. It is a reaffirmation of identity, a recognition of the bonds that unite us across generations, and a tribute to the teachers and mentors who gave so selflessly. 'It also reflects something greater: the strength of community and the enduring importance of education as a force for progress and unity,' he said. Founded in 1934 by the late Saravanamuthu as a small music class for the children of Malayan Railways workers, the school has since grown into a cherished educational institution within the local Indian community.

Tamil Youth Step Forward in Faith at Historic Vocation Camp Jul 18, 2025 By Nesri ManoharanThe first-ever Tamil Vocation Camp in the Malacca Johore Diocese took place from June 27-29 at the Church of St Philip, uniting over 60 Tamil-speaking young adults for a weekend of discovery, faith, and purpose. With the theme 'Two Pillars; One Mission,' this milestone initiative was inspired by Fr Adrian Francis and supported by Sr Evelyn Elyas, FdCC, marking a new chapter for vocation awareness among Tamil-speaking Catholic youth. Organised for single men and women aged 18 and above, the camp focused on helping participants reflect on the lives of St Peter and St Paul, and to ask: What is God calling me to do with my life? The entire programme was successfully led and coordinated by Kevin Raj Brutus from the Church of St Louis Kluang, whose youthful leadership and spiritual focus brought energy, structure, and heart to the camp. A Weekend That Changed Lives Sr Evelyn gave a moving sharing about the life of a Canossian Sister, while introducing the roles of Friends of Canossa and Canossian Lay Missionaries. Fr Adrian walked the young men through the beauty and sacrifice of Diocesan Priesthood, answering their honest questions with love and clarity. One participant shared, 'I thought I was just coming for a camp. But I left with a clearer heart, a stronger faith, and new friends who also want to follow Jesus seriously.' Mission, Friendship, and Faith The highlight for many was the gotongroyong service at the Canossian Convent: washing, scrubbing, gardening , a simple act that opened hearts. In the evenings, praise and worship, rosary, and Eucharistic Adoration created space for a personal encounter with Jesus. The camp closed with a beautiful Mass and a deep sense of hope. IPOH, July 18 (Bernama) -- A wave of nostalgia is set to sweep through Jalan Tun Abdul Razak here tomorrow as former pupils and teachers of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Perak Sangeetha Sabah gather for a long-awaited reunion, aptly themed 'Rekindling Memories, Celebrating Friendships'. SJK (T) Perak Sangeetha Sabah traces its humble beginnings to the year 1934, when it was founded by one Mr Saravanamuthu as a small music class conducted on the veranda of a shop along Regat Tun Perak (then Jalan Jelf) here. Primarily established to serve the children of Malayan Railway workers, the school gave many Indian families access to music education at a time when formal schooling was scarce. Fuelled by the dedication of the local community, a modest school building was soon constructed to accommodate the growing number of pupils. Over the decades, Sangeetha Sabah evolved into more than just a school. It became a cherished institution deeply rooted in the lives and memories of its pupils.
