Calling upon youth to take up leadership roles, Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament, Capt. Brijesh Chowta said that the country needs leaders at every level, as it is now being recognised as a world leader.
Inaugurating 'Mock Parliament-2025' at the SDM College of Business Management here on Thursday, Capt. Chowta said India is regarded as a world leader by virtue of its democracy, demography, and the way it deals with global problems.
Recalling his visit to Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia and Russia as part of the all-party delegation to convey the country's zero tolerance to terrorism after Operation Sindoor, the MP said their interaction with the leadership of those countries showed distinct respect for India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. None of the countries was ignoring the country. The respect for India was also due to the way governance was taking shape in the country.
Asking the youth of the region to take pride in the culture, ethos, and heritage of Dakshina Kannada, he urged them to join the civil services and other avenues of policy-making, thereby shaping the nation's future.
Stressing the importance of policy-making, Doddaballapur MLA and State president of BJP Yuva Morcha, Dheeraj Muniraju, said that the youth should understand the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, by which Indians are now being respected worldwide.
The mock parliament was organised by Youth for Nation. Students acted as the ruling and opposition parties to delve into imposition of Emergency in 1975.

‘Traders facing socio-eco emergency'

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said that the flawed policies and complicated tax system under the BJP govt has brought about an economic and social emergency for traders. Speaking at a meeting of the party's Vyapar Sabha, Akhilesh said, "This govt calls itself a double engine govt but all its 'engines' are busy in arranging 'fuel' instead of focusing on governance. " "The govt claims that it has simplified taxes like GST but it has hardly helped businesses. On the contrary, it has created more hurdles for them," he said. Citing media reports to claim that 35,000 MSMEs have shut down in the last year, he promised that SP would ensure safety and convenience for traders if it formed govt in 2027. "Business associates have also resolved to work with full responsibility, supporting the SP's election campaign from their respective places," he said. Akhilesh also paid tribute to Bhamashah and recalled his contributions to society and support to Maharana Pratap during the Battle of Haldighati. SP Vyapar Sabha state president Pradeep Jaiswal assured full support to the party from the trader community.

His remarks have been quoted out of context and the media reports are a mis-representation of the intention and thrust of the presentation made by the speaker," the Indian Embassy in Indonesia said in a statement on Sunday."The presentation conveyed that the Indian Armed Forces serve under civilian political leadership unlike some other countries in our neighbourhood. It was also explained that the objective of Operation Sindoor was to target terrorist infrastructure and the Indian response was non-escalatory," it in May, Reuters released an article citing Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan's statement on India's military superiority over Pakistan during Operation CDS admitted during the interview that the Armed Forces had suffered losses in the initial stages of the operation but then struck with impunity at Pakistan's bases."So what I can say is, on May 7 and the initial stages, there were losses, but the numbers and that's not important. What was important is why did these losses occur, and what will we do after that? So we rectified the tactics and then went back on seventh, eighth and 10th, and 10th in large numbers, to hit their bases deep inside Pakistan, penetrated all their defences with impunity, with scattered opposition strikes," Gen Chauhan was quoted as saying by decisively asserted its military superiority over Pakistan during last month's brief but intense conflict, with its aerial strikes penetrating deep into Pakistterritory and delivering pinpoint blows to critical enemy infrastructure such as radar systems, control units, and airbases, a Reuters report citing CDS statement, underlining how New Delhi's military superiority during "Operation Sindoor" forced Islamabad to tuck its Operation Sindoor, India demonstrated that large-scale counter-terror operations could be carried out with surgical precision, even against a nuclear-armed adversary, without triggering significant escalation.

AAP hits the streets over slum demolition drives, threatens mass agitation

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday launched the 'Ghar Rozgar Bachao Andolan (Save homes, jobs movement)' at Jantar Mantar with a protest against the ongoing demolition drives in slum clusters in the city. AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal accused the ruling BJP of betraying slum dwellers and urged Delhi's 40 lakh slum dwellers not to fall for 'Modi ki guarantee' again. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Kejriwal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised 'Jahan Jhuggi, Wahan Makaan (Where there's a jhuggi, there will be a house)' before the Delhi Assembly election, but delivered the opposite. 'What he really meant was 'Jahan Jhuggi, Wahan Maidan (Where there is a jhuggi, there will be barren land)'. They've thrown the poor into boiling oil and left them to die,' he said, calling the Prime Minister's guarantees 'fake and hollow'. Mr. Kejriwal also said the BJP government would not complete its five-year term if they continue to demolish slums. Senior AAP leader Gopal Rai warned the BJP that the poor will occupy the 'Prime Minister's residence if slums are demolished without providing alternative housing', adding that there would be mass agitation if the demolition drives don't stop. Hitting back, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said, 'The call for an attack on the Prime Minister's residence has once again brought to light the dark and Naxalite-like faces of [Arvind] Kejriwal and Gopal Rai and they must understand that there is no place for their words in a civilised society.' Mr. Sachdeva claimed that the BJP government is 'committed to giving better lives to slum dwellers', who were 'compelled to live in bad conditions' along drains and railway tracks in the city. 'New homes, new lives' 'Just as we have resettled slum dwellers from Kalkaji, Jailorwala Bagh, Kalandar Colony, and Kathputli Colony. We will continue to provide new homes and new lives to people,' the city BJP chief said.
