GENERAL
KUCHING, July 15 (Bernama) -- The hydrogen (H₂) refuelling facility at Petros Multifuel Station (MFS) Batu Kawa is currently undergoing testing and commissioning, marking another major milestone in Sarawak's ongoing journey towards a hydrogen-powered future.
SEDC Energy (SEDCE) said that the flagship station, built to meet international safety standards, is part of the Petros MFS Batu Kawa development. It offers a range of services including conventional fuels, electric vehicle (EV) charging, hydrogen refuelling, and quick-serve restaurants for nearby communities and road users.
'The station receives 120 kilogrammes of hydrogen molecules via tube trailers from the Darul Hana H₂ production plant, located about 10 kilometres away. The plant has a daily production capacity of up to 150 kilogrammes of hydrogen molecules.
'As part of the commissioning process, five Toyota Mirai Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) managed by SEDC Energy (SEDCE) are being refuelled at the station to ensure all systems meet safety and performance standards," it said in a statement.
It added that the vehicles are currently used by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Deputy Premiers, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and SEDC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Husain.
It also said that recently Dr Sim visited the MFS Batu Kawa station to witness the refuelling of his Toyota Mirai as part of the ongoing testing exercise.
During the visit, he was also briefed on a historic milestone achieved on July 4, Malaysia's first interstation delivery of green hydrogen from Darul Hana to Batu Kawa which may also be the first of its kind in ASEAN.
SEDC Energy (SEDCE), the new energy arm of the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) was established in 2019 to develop and drive Sarawak's hydrogen value chain and downstream oil and gas retail business under the Petros MFS brand.
To date, SEDCE said 10 MFS stations are fully operational across Sarawak, including in Darul Hana (Kuching), Daro, Kanowit, Kuala Matu, Brooke Drive (Sibu), Selangau, Tatau, Kapit, Sungai Asap and Jepak. Four additional flagship stations are currently in the pipeline for Bintulu, Miri, Sibu, and Sri Aman.

Meta Bright speeds up EV growth through tie-up with ChargeHere

KUALA LUMPUR: Meta Bright Group Bhd's 51%-owned subsidiary Meta Bright ChargeSini Sdn Bhd has signed novation agreements with ChargeHere EV Solution Sdn Bhd – effectively assuming full rights, operations, and revenue streams for four primary electric vehicle (EV) charging station projects. This marks a significant step forward in Meta Bright's foray into the EV charging sector. The strategic novation agreement transfers operational control and commercial benefits for the EV charging stations located at high-visibility properties, enabling the group to rapidly scale its presence in line with Malaysia's National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR). ChargeHere, operating under the ChargeSini brand, is Malaysia's leading charging point operator with a network of 935 EV charging points nationwide. Through the novation, Meta Bright ChargeSini will take over complete management responsibilities including maintenance, operations, and revenue collection, building upon the foundation laid by its joint venture partner. The transaction not only brings immediate commercial returns through service income and profit-sharing models but also realises the full intent of the joint venture announced earlier in July. It accelerates Meta Bright's ability to replicate and roll out similar successful projects across Malaysia. Meta Bright executive director of corporate and strategic planning Derek Phang Kiew Lim described the novation as a key tactical move that significantly shortens time-to-market in Malaysia's competitive EV landscape. He said that instead of starting from the ground up, the company has (through this arrangement), instantly secured EV charging stations in high-traffic, strategic locations. 'This move reinforces Meta Bright's commitment to expanding its renewable energy business and firmly establishes the group as an active and credible player in the country's green mobility transition. 'Rather than a tentative entry, the company is accelerating its role in the sector, strengthening its base of recurring income and setting the stage for future growth,' he said. Phang added that the novation represents a strategic evolution from the joint venture agreement with ChargeHere, further solidifying Meta Bright's ambitions in the charging point operator market. Building on this momentum, Meta Bright is currently in advanced negotiations to secure the next phase of EV charging sites in key strategic locations. Phang noted that the group's expanding operational track record supports a disciplined growth strategy and underpins its dual focus on enlarging its renewable energy portfolio while contributing meaningfully to Malaysia's green mobility agenda.

V-Green introduces EV charging station partnership opportunities in the Philippines: Stable Revenue – Zero Risk

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Media OutReach Newswire - 21 July 2025 - As Southeast Asia's electric vehicle (EV) market enters a phase of rapid expansion, V-Green Global Charging Station Development JSC announces the launch of its EV charging station partnership model in the Philippines. This initiative offers landowners and business owners an attractive opportunity to generate stable, long-term income while participating in the growth of the green technology sector. The move marks a strategic milestone in V-Green's efforts to expand its regional infrastructure footprint and accelerate the development of a comprehensive EV ecosystem. Under this model, V-Green seeks to collaborate with property owners who meet the required site criteria, with no upfront investment required from partners. V-Green will cover the full cost of equipment installation, three-phase electrical connection, and 24/7 operation and maintenance. Partners benefit from a revenue-sharing arrangement, unlocking the potential of underutilized real estate while enjoying reliable returns. With a minimum lease term of five years, the model ensures zero financial risk and no operational burden for participating partners. V-Green is currently prioritizing locations in Metro Manila, Cebu City, and Davao, with site areas ranging from 30 to 1,000 square meters. Ideal sites are easy to access and recognize, close to three-phase power sources, and have a solid concrete foundation suitable for charger installation. 'We believe that EV charging stations will become a standard feature across all types of real estate developments in the Philippines within the next five years,' said Mr. Luu Viet Hung, CEO of V-Green Philippines. 'With our flexible business model and advanced technological platform, V-Green is committed to working hand-in-hand with local partners to deliver smart EV charging infrastructure — a solution that not only enhances property value but also drives the country's transition toward a greener future.' In addition to directly investing in its own charging stations, V-Green also plans to introduce a franchise model in the Philippines. This approach, which has already proven successful in Vietnam, enables broader market participation while accelerating network coverage. V-Green currently operates over 150,000 charging ports nationwide in Vietnam through a combination of self-operated and franchised stations. Further details on the franchise opportunity in the Philippines will be announced soon. Partnering with V-Green is more than just leasing land — it's an opportunity to become part of a thriving green tech ecosystem. Site owners can maximize existing assets without the need for capital expenditure or technical operations. V-Green takes full responsibility for deployment, maintenance, and operations, ensuring seamless integration and optimized cost-efficiency. Installing EV charging stations also drives increased customer traffic and dwell time, boosting revenue for adjacent services such as retail, food & beverage, and utilities. Moreover, the presence of a V-Green station enhances the modern, eco-conscious image of the property, offering a clear competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving market where sustainability is increasingly prioritized by consumers. Sarawak named among world's top transitioning industrial clusters

KUCHING: Sarawak has been acknowledged as one of only 36 Transitioning Industrial Clusters worldwide and the sole representative from Malaysia, announced Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. The recognition, granted by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, highlights the state's commitment to green energy development. 'Last month, I was invited to speak at the World Economic Forum - Summer Davos 2025. However, due to my wife's health, I sent Sarawak Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, as my representative. The organisers later requested my personal participation, but the slot was eventually given to the Prime Minister of Singapore. This demonstrates Sarawak's growing global influence,' he said during the Marina bridge project groundbreaking ceremony. Abang Johari attributed Sarawak's international standing to its sustainable development policies. 'During my recent visit to Japan, officials commended Sarawak's focus on new energy solutions. We must maintain this momentum while ensuring development benefits the people, such as through projects like the RM400 million Marina bridge in Miri,' he added. The Public Works Department (JKR) confirmed that the Marina bridge contract is expected to be awarded in Q4 2025. Once completed, the bridge will connect Miri Marina to Miri Peninsula, reducing travel distance to Pulau Melayu and Lutong from 10km to just 2km, cutting travel time from 25 minutes to five. Abang Johari also revealed ongoing exploration in Miri's Adong area for potential natural resource reserves. 'Studies are underway to assess its viability. If results are positive, the state will proceed with extraction,' he said. Additionally, Sarawak is planning to boost Miri's tourism sector with a new road linking Miri to Marudi and Long Terawan, enhancing accessibility to northern Sarawak's key attractions. - Bernama
