Uranus has entered Gemini for the first time in 84 years, and astrologers and social media users are panicking about this transition, believing that it could herald turbulent times.
The Context
On July 7, 2025, Uranus entered Gemini. The planet will briefly retrograde into Taurus on November 7 and re-enter Gemini in April of 2026, where it will stay until May 2033.

What To Know
So what does this mean and what (on earth), does it have to do with politics and world events?
All the planets in the solar system will eventually return to a certain spot they were once in, shifting into new zodiac territories as they move around the sun.
This means that they will return to places that they were during significant times. Planets can return to the same spot that they were in during a particular event, which is a planetary return.
That's the case with Uranus entering Gemini: Uranus is entering the spot in the sky which is associated with the Gemini zodiac. And Uranus was in this placement during some significant historical events.
Astrologist and spiritual counselor Letao Wang (@letaowang on Instagram) told Newsweek by email: "Uranus, the planet of rebellion, innovation, and sudden change, leaves Taurus—the steady, practical earth sign it has inhabited for the past seven years—and enters Gemini, the mutable air sign ruled by Mercury.
"This marks a significant astrological shift, moving us from a period of slow, tangible transformation (Taurus) into an era of rapid intellectual and communicative evolution (Gemini)," Wang said.
Now, this is where the problems may start.
The Revolutionary War, the Civil War and World War II all took place when this transit was occurring.
One Instagram reel, from the account @v.josa, a xx has the text overlay: "Why is no one talking about the fact that Uranus will enter Gemini in July – last time this happened was during the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki." This reel has been viewed 2.2 million times as of reporting.
Wang told Newsweek that this transition could also lead to a "revolution in communication."
"New platforms, decentralized media, or AI-driven language tools may emerge," Wang said. "Misinformation battles could intensify, but so will efforts to democratize knowledge."
Wang said that the last time Uranus was in Gemini "the Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC) was completed in the U.S. (technological breakthrough); the United Nations as an international organization was formed (new communication among nations); and the partition of India occurred—sudden changes leading to one country into two (Gemini is a sign of twins)."
What People Are Saying
Astrologist and spiritual counselor Letao Wang told Newsweek: "Now, as Uranus enters the mutable air sign Gemini, the focus turns to technology, communication, and information exchange. Gemini thrives on curiosity, adaptability, and connection, so expect breakthroughs in AI, quantum computing, social media, transportation, and education; while Uranus is the modern ruler of another air sign Aquarius, this transit will inevitably bring about a scientific revolution."
Astrologer Aura Moon said on TikTok: "Uranus was in Gemini during The American Revolutionary War, The Civil War, and WWII. Uranus will be in Gemini for a few months this year, but will fully be in the sign by next year. This is the clam before the storm."
Social media user @firesidesparrow said on TikTok: "During the Solstice, the planets all positioned into a perfect placement for conflict. We're in a Tower moment Uranus moves into Gemini on July 7th This only happens every 84 years. ~Last time it was 1941 (WWII) Before that was 1859 (The Civil War) And before that? The American Revolution Please keep telling me Astrology isn't real... this is the calm before the storm."
What's Next
"This year 2025, we will have this amazing opportunity to witness between July and November, how Uranus's journey in this exciting air sign feels, before it retrogrades back into Taurus for its final farewell to the past seven years," Wang added.

North Carolina Plane Crash Victims Identified: 'Heavy Hearts'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A North Carolina family of four — including two young children — was killed when their small plane crashed in a field northeast of Sanford on Monday afternoon as they returned from a beach trip in Florida. Federal investigators say the single-engine Cirrus SR22T aircraft went down shortly after 1:30 p.m. under unknown circumstances. The National Transportation Safety Board said an investigator was expected at the crash site Tuesday and that the wreckage would be transported to a facility for further analysis. The victims were identified as 35-year-olds Travis and Candace Buchanan, along with their children, 10-year-old Aubrey and 9-year-old Walker, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Three of the four family members died at the scene, while the fourth was pronounced dead at a hospital. There were no survivors in the crash. Flight records indicate the aircraft, registered to Travis Buchanan of Sanford, departed Merritt Island, Florida, around 11 a.m. Monday. It disappeared from tracking near Sanford, about 40 miles southwest of Raleigh, just over two hours later. The plane was based at Raleigh Executive Jetport, located a few miles from the crash site, the airport confirmed in a social media post. The Buchanans were well-known in the Sanford community. Local television station WRAL reported the family owned Buchanan Farms, and an employee, Abraham Garcia, described Travis Buchanan as a generous and kind employer. "He helped me all the time," Garcia told the station. Grace Christian School in Sanford also mourned the family's loss, confirming that Aubrey was set to enter fifth grade and Walker fourth grade this fall. "It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of one of our Crusader Families," the school said in a statement on Facebook. "During this incredibly difficult time, we stand together in support of their family and one another." The Federal Aviation Administration and the NTSB are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. This is a breaking news story. Updates to follow. Monuments Men and Women Foundation's Forever Promise Project Receives Critical Support from Bank of America
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Forever Promise Project—a new initiative dedicated to connecting all of the families of American service members memorialized at the Netherlands American Cemetery with the Dutch citizens who have devotedly adopted their graves—is gaining powerful momentum thanks to the support of Bank of America. 'The Forever Promise Project is about more than remembrance. It's about human connection across generations and raising awareness of the enduring cost of freedom.' The project is a collaboration between the Monuments Men and Women Foundation (MMWF) and the Foundation for Adopting Graves American Cemetery Margraten. With Bank of America's generous support, the MMWF will expand its outreach and capacity to identify and connect all 10,000 American families to each of their respective Dutch adopters, while honoring one of the most extraordinary examples of international gratitude and remembrance. Presently, the Dutch adopters only have the contact information for the relatives of about twenty-five percent of their American liberators. Rooted in the remarkable tradition that began in early 1945, families in Margraten and other towns in Limburg Province began caring for the graves of fallen U.S. soldiers, placing flowers and paying tribute to their sacrifice, before World War II had even ended. This gesture of gratitude towards the American liberators who restored freedom to this area of the Netherlands has existed as a formal adoption program for eight decades and has continued, uninterrupted, to this day. 'Thanks to Bank of America's support, we are able to scale our efforts and shine a light on this remarkable legacy of gratitude and remembrance,' said Anna Bottinelli, President of the Monuments Men and Women Foundation. 'The Forever Promise Project is about more than remembrance. It's about human connection across generations and raising awareness of the enduring cost of freedom.' 'Preserving the memory of those who gave their lives for our freedom is an important way to honor their sacrifice,' said Brian Siegel, Global Arts, Culture & Heritage Executive at Bank of America. 'We couldn't be prouder to support the Monuments Men and Women Foundation as they embark on this mission, and to help foster the bonds that unite our global communities.' The project aligns closely with the recent release of the New York Times bestseller Remember Us: American Sacrifice, Dutch Freedom, and a Forever Promise Forged in World War II, the latest book by Robert M. Edsel, founder and chairman of the MMWF. Remember Us tells the powerful story of twelve Americans—paratroopers, combat soldiers, pilots, a chaplain, and a grave digger – whose lives converge in this area of the Netherlands, and how the grave adoption program and its enduring bonds came into being. 'This book is a tribute to the Americans who liberated a portion of the Netherlands in September 1944, and the Dutch citizens whose profound gratitude transformed into a promise kept for generations—a forever promise' said Robert M. Edsel. 'The Forever Promise Project is the continuation of that story—one that honors the American men and women who preserved our freedom with their lives. It is a timeless story as relevant today as it was 80 years ago.' Families of U.S. service members buried at the Netherlands American Cemetery or memorialized on its Walls of the Missing are encouraged to visit to complete a short form and begin the process—entirely free of charge—of being connected with the Dutch family caring for their loved one's grave. About the Forever Promise Project The Forever Promise Project, a partnership between the Monuments Men and Women Foundation and the Foundation for Adopting Graves American Cemetery Margraten, seeks to connect American families with the Dutch adopters of their fallen relatives. US Nuclear Command Plane Seen Flying Over Atlantic
A specialized United States Navy aircraft designed to serve as an airborne command post during a nuclear conflict was spotted flying over the North Atlantic Ocean. Newsweek has contacted the U.S. Navy for comment via email. The E-6B aircraft, also known as Mercury, is designed to serve as a communications relay for the nation's nuclear-armed ballistic missile submarines and to facilitate the launch of land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles, according to the Naval Air Systems Command. In April, an E-6B aircraft simulated the launch of intercontinental ballistic missiles at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, testing its Airborne Launch Control System-which can launch nuclear-capable missiles if ground-based command centers are compromised. The Atlantic Ocean is a major operating area for the U.S. military. Last month, a pair of U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carriers-USS Gerald R. Ford and USS George H.W. Bush-sailed in formation while conducting resupply operations and ammunition transfers at sea. Citing flight tracking data, TheIntelFrog-an open-source intelligence analyst on X, formerly Twitter-reported spotting an E-6B aircraft conducting flight operations over waters near Portugal's Azores islands on Sunday. The Azores are in the North Atlantic Ocean, about 870 miles west of mainland Portugal. IslandAviation Terceira Azores, a YouTube channel that records takeoffs and landings at Lajes Airport-which is on Terceira Island in the Azores and shares a runway with an air base-uploaded a video on Sunday showing the landing of an E-6B aircraft. The U.S. Air Force describes Lajes Field as the "Crossroads of the Atlantic," serving as a vital mid-Atlantic link for forces traveling to and from Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Details of the E-6B aircraft's temporarily deployment from its main operating base at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma remain unclear. In June 2024, trackers showed the Mercury fleet conducting deployments in Norway and the United Kingdom. The aircraft-derived from the Boeing 707 passenger jet-provides the National Command Authority, including the president and the secretary of defense, with what the Navy describes as "survivable, reliable, and endurable" nuclear command, control and communications. Hans Kristensen, the director of the Nuclear Information Project at the Federation of American Scientists, wrote on X in June 2024: "The [E-6B] aircraft is designed to provide secure communication link between the U.S. National Command Authority and nuclear ballistic missile submarines. E-6Bs occasionally visit Europe but not often." The War Zone, a specialist outlet, wrote on June 5: "Today, the Mercury fleet supports two critical nuclear deterrence mission sets: a Navy one called 'Take Charge And Move Out' (TACAMO) and an Air Force one referred to simply as the Airborne Command Post (ABNCP), but better known by the nickname Looking Glass." TACAMO involves the relaying of orders to the Navy's ballistic missile submarines, while the Looking Glass mission relays orders to the Air Force's nuclear-capable bombers and silo-based intercontinental ballistic missiles. The aging E-6B fleet-which includes 16 aircraft in service-is scheduled to be replaced by the newer E-130J aircraft, maintaining a survivable communication link between the National Command Authority and the U.S.'s air-, land- and sea-based nuclear forces.
