TYT pays tribute to fathers' sacrifices in Father's Day message
KUCHING (June 14): Sarawak's Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, in his Father's Day message, called on all Sarawakians not to forget the services and sacrifices of their fathers.
'Father's Day, which is also celebrated in Malaysia including Sarawak, is an opportunity for us to appreciate and recognises the important role played by fathers in shaping families and society. A father is not just a breadwinner, but also a protector, guide, shaper of values and morals, and a source of inspiration and the main role-model for the formation of character, spirit and the attitude of their children,' he said.
He pointed out that fathers shoulder a heavy responsibility as the head of the family, ensuring the well-being, safety, and future of their children are always protected.
'Appreciate them as long as they are alive, express your appreciation, and continue the legacy of noble values that have been instilled by them. To those who have lost their fathers, send prayers to them and give alms as a sign of our lasting love,' he said.
Although a father's love is rarely expressed verbally, Wan Junaidi said every drop of sweat and every effort made is proof of their endless love for the well-being of the family.
He also said behind every successful family, stands a father who fights tirelessly – both in the countryside and in the city, from various backgrounds and occupations.
'Fathers teach us about responsibility, patience, perseverance and strength. His advice becomes a guide for life, while his firmness shapes our personality and resilience in facing challenges. Therefore, on this special day, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi and I record our highest appreciation and gratitude to all fathers for all the services and sacrifices they make without expecting anything in return,' he said. Six elephants captured in Kluang under translocation operation
JOHOR BAHRU: The Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) has successfully captured six elephants in Kluang as part of an ongoing translocation operation. The initiative, which began on Monday, targets areas around Kampung Pinggir and Kampung Sri Lukut to address rising human-elephant conflicts. State Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon confirmed the captures, noting that the elephants are sizable, with some standing up to two metres tall. 'The elephants captured are quite large, with some reaching up to two metres tall and they are part of a group from the national park, which has been causing conflict in the Kampung Sri Lukut area of late,' he said in a Facebook post. The operation, led by the Johor and Peninsular Perhilitan Elephant Translocation Unit (UTG), aims to relocate elephant groups encroaching on agricultural and residential zones. Beyond mitigating conflicts, the effort seeks to restore ecological balance by controlling elephant populations outside their natural habitats. Scientific data collected during the operation will also help refine wildlife management policies.
