Telangana government to construct 20 lakh Indiramma houses in four years: Minister Ponguleti
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating a model Indiramma house constructed on the premises of Nakrekal Mandal Parishad Development Office (MPDO) in Nalgonda district, Srinivasa Reddy said that the primary objective of building Indiramma houses was to empower the poor.
'In the first phase, houses are being allocated to those who do not have a house or cannot even build a wall,' he said and added that houses will be provided to all eligible beneficiaries in phases
'In the first phase, 3,500 houses are allocated to each constituency. This will be followed by three more phases. A total of 20 lakh houses will be constructed across the state at a cost of `5 lakh each,' he added.
The minister said that the Bhu Bharathi Act, introduced by Telangana to solve all land-related problems, will be a role model for the entire country.
New tahsildar office building in Nakrekal
Stating that Nakrekal mandal has been selected for implementation of Bhu Bharathi on a pilot basis, he said all the pending land issues in the mandal will be resolved soon.
Responding to a request made by Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham, the Revenue minister sanctioned a new tahsildar office building for the mandal.
Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the state government has started two prestigious initiatives -- Bhu Bharathi and Indiramma housing scheme.
'With these initiatives, the government intends to resolve all land related problems and build houses for all beneficiaries in every constituency,' he said.
Meanwhile, District Collector Ila Tripathi said that Indiramma Committees have been formed in every village and a gazetted officer appointed for every 200 houses to conduct a survey and prepare the list of beneficiaries, which is then approved by the in-charge minister.
'In Nalgonda district, the first installment of `1 lakh each has been deposited in bank accounts of 167 beneficiaries. The second installment of `2 lakh will be deposited in the accounts of those whose house construction has reached the pillar stage,' the collector added.

Congress will field local candidate, says Ponnam Prabhakar

He said that the government would consider allocating alternate land if it receives a formal request, citing previous allocations, including land for Jubilee Hills' Venkateswara Swamy Temple.

Blocking quota Bills amounts to injustice to BCs, warns Bhatti
HYDERABAD/KAMAREDDY: Asking the BJP-led Union government not to block the two pending BC reservation Bills, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday said the entire Telangana Cabinet, along with MLAs and MLCs, will visit New Delhi from August 5 to 7 to press for approval of the two Bills. One Bill seeks to implement 42% reservation for BCs in local body elections, while the other relates to quotas in education and employment. Stating that blocking the Bills would amount to injustice to the BC community, Vikramarka urged the Union government to approve those without delay. He was speaking at a public meeting in Tandur constituency after laying foundation stones for several development projects, including the proposed Young India Residential School. He also handed over new ration cards to the beneficiaries on the occasion. Addressing concerns about delayed Indiramma housing payments, Vikramarka said payments will be cleared weekly, based on the progress of construction. He criticised the previous government for neglecting the housing sector and claimed that the Congress government had revived housing construction under the Indiramma scheme. 'Across the state, 4.5 lakh houses are being built at a total cost of Rs 22,500 crore, with 3,500 houses allocated per constituency,' he said. Vikramarka added that ration card modifications had resumed after a gap of 10 years. 'Of the 1.15 crore families in the state, 95 lakh now have ration cards and receive 6 kg of free rice per person,' he said.

Ramchander Rao slams Congress, predicts BJP surge in TG
Hyderabad: Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao mounted a stinging critique of the Congress party at the Samarashankarava workers' meeting in Kothagudem, as part of his district tour for local body elections. Addressing party workers, Rao accused Congress of long-standing neglect toward marginalised communities and forecasted a political shift in the region, with the BJP poised for significant victories. Rao highlighted that Congress governed for over 55 years with only a ministry for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, failing to form dedicated institutions for tribal welfare. In contrast, he credited former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for establishing a separate ministry, commission, and department for Scheduled Tribes—an action he claimed Congress failed to replicate. Turning to Other Backwards Classes (OBCs), Rao emphasised that the Modi government gave constitutional status to the OBC Commission, complete with its own chairman and members, marking a first in India's governance framework. 'Why didn't Congress implement such measures during its decades in power?' he asked. He launched sharp allegations that Congress exploited caste and religious identities for votes, money, and power. 'Believing in Congress is akin to drowning in the Musi and Godavari rivers,' he quipped.
