'FatFace's new midi dress with pockets made me miss my train– I had to buy it'
I was doing my usual run through London Bridge station the other day, headphones on and dodging tourists outside the station, when something stopped me in my tracks. A flash of indigo and white caught my eye in the window of FatFace's London Bridge shop and I instinctively slowed down. There it was, the dress I didn't know I needed.
Now I wasn't planning to shop. I really wasn't. In fact, I was running late for a train that I would miss should I wait even a moment longer. But there it was, a beacon of teal in amonst the sea of dark navy and grey suits surrounding me, and I knew I needed to go in to try it on.
The item in question? FatFace's Remi Teal Blue Shibori Midi Dress, £69. You know that feeling when you try something on and it lives up to all of your expectations? That was me in the fitting room ten minutes later. The dress fit like a dream. Soft cotton that feels cool on the skin, flattering without clinging and a silhouette that flatters my waist and skims over my thighs.
The print is what drew me in at first. It's inspired by the sea with a deep rich blue that's striking yet not busy. Up close the Shibori-style pattern is organic and fluid like it was made for beach days and warm nights. And it somehow manages to be bold and calming at the same time.
The shape is the real winner, though. The V-neckline is just the right depth, and the cuffed sleeves give it a little structure, which I love. There's a gentle cinch at the waist that gives you shape without that pulled-in feeling. It just skims in the right places and flares softly as you move. I hate the phrase 'desk to dinner', but this dress really is one you could wear to pretty much any occasion– even a wedding, with the right heels and accessories.
And can we just take a moment for the pockets? Actual functional deep pockets. I don't know why it's still so rare, but it feels like a win every time. The dress is 100% cotton too, which is perfect for those sticky summer days when anything synthetic is a no-go. It's breathable and easy to throw on with sandals, trainers, or even dressed up with a wedge. Though I've only just bought it, I've already worn it to one dinner, one weekend brunch, and I'm about to wear it to a fancy brand event later this week.
Another fashion discovery I made this week that you should have on your radar is Boden's dress that can be worn to any event. The Anna Linen Tiered Midi Dress is on the pricier side at £136. However, Boden is currently offering 15% full-price styles with the code PQ4D, bringing the price down to £115.60, more than £20 off the original price.
The dress is made from soft linen and features a shoulder smocking detail to give the sleeves a stylish puff design. And the best part? The tiered skirt features side pockets, so you can forgo your bag (if you want) and go hands-free by popping your essentials like your phone, card holder and keys into the pockets.

Alex Jones' 'comfy and flattering' Boden trousers are 'selling like hot cakes'
The One Show's Alex Jones shows how to style a yellow-gold pair of Boden trousers for summer Alex Jones has once again found the perfect in-between of comfort and style with her latest on-screen look– and it's already causing a stir among fans. Stepping out on The One Show, the presenter opted for a bold but surprisingly wearable pair of sunshine-yellow trousers from Boden, and viewers must have been quick to note them because Boden says they're "selling like hot cakes" The Primrose Patch Pocket Trousers in the shade Golden Rye, £90, have been dubbed 'comfy and flattering' by shoppers, who are keen to pick them up in multiple colourways. It's easy to see why. With their relaxed, straight-leg silhouette and structured patch pockets, the trousers are both laid-back and smart. The high waist gives shape, while the breathable cotton blend makes them ideal for warm weather. Alex paired them with a cropped, dark-wash denim jacket that brings a clever balance to the bold hue. Her jacket is believed to be a past-season Mango buy, but the new season version, complete with boxy cut and silver buttons, is almost identical and still in stock for £49.99 in plenty of sizes. While sunshine shades can sometimes be intimidating, Alex shows how a strong colour choice can anchor an otherwise simple outfit. Her choice to keep the rest of the look pared-back (minimal accessories and fresh make-up) is what makes the trousers pop rather than overwhelm. We do love how she added a bit more flair to the outfit by accessorizing with a killer pair of leopard print heels – the perfect print to flatter the golden yellow shade of the trousers. With a price tag of £90 and sizes selling fast, it's clear that Alex's influence extends well beyond the TV sofa. Plus, if you act fast, you can get 15% off the trousers by using the discount code W7CX, which works on new styles on Boden's website. That brings Alex's buy down to a slightly more reasonable £76.50. Elsewhere in outfit news from our favourite presenters, Rochelle Humes stepped out on Wednesday morning's This Morning show wearing a khaki peplum top with a suede midi skirt and some brown open-toe mules. A neutral colour palette has become a staple of Rochelle's signature look, and her latest outfit was no exception. We've hunted down her top as the Khaki Sleeveless Tie Back Corset Top from high-street favourite River Island. It also comes in brown and white, both of which would effortlessly slot into Rochelle's wardrobe.
