Firefighters tackling large blaze off A614 near Market Weighton

A large fire has broken out in a field in East Yorkshire.The blaze is close to the A614 between Market Weighton and Holme-on-Spalding Moor and motorists have been advised to avoid the area if possible.A spokesperson for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said crews had been at the scene since 14:00 BST and six appliances had been sent.The blaze was caused by loose straw catching fire and was expected to take "a long time" to put out.
Firefighters had managed to create a fire break and were monitoring for potential hotspots, the spokesperson added.Residents living nearby were advised to keep doors and windows closed due to a large amount of smoke.
