PLUS shuts southbound Serdang R&R to heavy vehicles for upgrading until July 31
In a statement, PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) said the heavy vehicles access route into the R&R area will be closed in stages from 8am today until midnight on July 31, 2025, to make way for upgrading works for the comfort of highway users.
'As such, heavy vehicle drivers are advised to use the nearest available parking facilities as an alternative during the maintenance period.
'However, other facilities and parking for Class 1 vehicles at the R&R will continue to operate as usual,' the statement read.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys using the PLUS App for up-to-date traffic information and to follow all traffic signs and instructions from PLUS personnel when passing through the affected area.
The latest traffic updates can be obtained via the PUTRI Virtual Assistant, X@plustrafik App, and electronic signboards at selected locations, or by contacting the PLUSLine at 1800-88-0000 for emergency assistance. — Bernama

According to Vietnam News Agency (VNA), the Director of the ministry's Vietnam Environment Agency, Hoang Van Thuc, said the matter is in line with the Law on Environmental Protection 2020. He said the agency has been assigned to draft a circular regulating national technical standards (QCVN) on emissions for automobiles, motorcycles, and motorised vehicles, along with a proposed roadmap for implementation to be submitted to the minister for approval. At the same time, the MAE is preparing a draft government decision on the roadmap for applying emission standards for motorcycles and motorised vehicles to be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval. According to the World Bank, air pollution in Vietnam results in annual economic losses equivalent to six to seven per cent of GDP. Tokyo Auto Salon KL returns in August with bigger names, rare cars

KUALA LUMPUR : The third edition of Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur (TASKL) will take place from Aug 8-10 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) here, with organisers promising a bigger show featuring rare car builds and a stronger fusion of Japanese and Malaysian automotive cultures. Among the headliners this year are six legendary names from Japan's tuning scene: Top Secret's Smokey Nagata, Liberty Walk's Wataru Kato, RE Amemiya's Isami Amemiya, KUHL Racing's Takahiro Kataoka, J's Racing's Hisaaki Murakami and Hiroshi Tamura, known as the father of the modern GT-R. Several iconic and rare vehicles will be flown in from Japan, including the one-of-a-kind Top Secret VR-32 Stealth Nissan GT-R, Liberty Walk's custom Ferrari F40, and the Super Silhouette ER34. Fans can also expect to see newer concept builds such as the CREWCH Delusion GT-R R356C and Matsukiyo Kizami 3Rotar NA-7. New to TASKL 2025 is a special showcase called Malaysia's Finest Tuners, which highlights the work of top local car builders and encourages collaboration between Japanese and Malaysian tuners. A die-cast collector's segment, the Mini TAS, will also be held in partnership with Model Car Show Malaysia. Jason Yap, CEO and director of Element X Strategies, said the event has grown steadily since its 2023 debut and continues to build its own identity. 'This year, we're focused on making the show even more accessible and even more memorable. We're not replicating the original Tokyo show, but creating something that belongs uniquely to Malaysia and the region,' he told a press conference at Mitec today. Element X Strategies is the official licensee of TASKL, working in collaboration with San Ei Corporation, the owner of the Tokyo Auto Salon intellectual property, and the Tokyo Auto Salon Association. Junichi Fukui, director-general of the Tokyo Auto Salon Federation, said the growing momentum of TASKL has led to new cross-border ventures. 'Japanese exhibitors have begun forming business partnerships with Malaysian companies as a result of this event,' he said. There will also be a lucky draw featuring a specially modified motorbike, with additional prizes such as tyres and other automotive products. A mix of local and international artistes will perform during the three-day show, with final confirmations to be announced on TASKL's social media channels. In the lead-up to the main event, TASKL will host the Prime Minister's Cup CSI1 — a SEA Games equestrian qualifier — from July 18 to 27 at the Kuala Lumpur Polo Club. On Aug 2, the Malaysia GT-R Festival will take place alongside the first official FL5 Type R track day at the Sepang International Circuit. Pasir Gudang expressway widening phased opening details this week
JOHOR BAHRU: Discussions with contractors and agencies will conclude this week to finalise the phased opening of the widened Pasir Gudang Highway. The three-lane road expansion aims to improve traffic flow along the busy industrial route. Johor Public Works, Transport, Infrastructure and Communications Committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh stated that sections of the five-kilometre project will open progressively based on readiness and safety assessments. 'This allows the public to benefit from completed sections sooner,' he said during a site visit. Key focus areas include CH1170 near Petron and CH4200 close to the Wau replica roundabout, where potholes and poor lighting have been persistent issues. Over 467 road patching works have been completed since January, and 197 streetlights will be installed by July 11. Additional spotlights and warning blinkers will enhance visibility at blind spots. Motorists experiencing vehicle damage due to potholes can file claims with the contractor or concessionaire. 'Road safety is a contractual obligation, and claims require a police report with photo evidence,' Mohamad Fazli clarified. The Pasir Gudang Highway is a critical route serving over 5,000 factories and linking Johor Port and Tanjung Langsat Port. The RM301.5 million Phase 3 upgrade, expanding the highway from four to six lanes, is set for completion by June 2028. Meanwhile, the RM78 million Phase 2B upgrade from Bandar Seri Alam to Pasir Gudang will finish by February 2026. - Bernama
