Three more Durban beaches closed: Here's where and why
According to the municipality, as of 26 June, three more Durban beaches have been closed for swimming due to poor water quality. This is in addition to the previously closed Anstey's beach. The currently closed Durban beaches are: ANSTEY'S BEACH

'This status of beaches and pools will be updated as and when their status changes. You can still enjoy other recreational activities at closed beaches. You just can't swim.' the municipality said.
The following 19 beaches in Durban are currently open for swimming between the hours of 06:00 and 18:30: POINT BEACH

Dam levels in the Western Cape JUMP as 'Day Zero' averted
The latest official dam level stats for the Western Cape show that cumulatively the six major dams in the province are well above 70% of capacity. The six major dams in the Western Cape – the Berg River, Steenbras Lower, Steenberg Upper, Theewaterskloof, Voelvlei and Wemmershoek – all saw increases this week as rain lashed the province. And the good news is that more heavy rain is forecast as the next cold front prepares to hit the Western Cape. The City of Cape Town uploaded its latest stats on Monday, 30 June. The latest figures show the six dams are a combined 73.1% of total storage. That's dramatically up from the 65.7% of last week. The current levels are also up on the same period a year ago when the combined percentage stood at 68.4%. Theewaterskloof, which accounts for more than 50% of the Western Cape's total dam capacity (480 188 MI of a total of 898 221 MI) is at 71.2% of capacity, while the next biggest dam, Voëlvlei (164 095 MI), is at 65.7%. Could Table Mountain see some snow this weekend?
It's been a cold, wet and windy start to the winter season in the Cape, and another strong weather system is set to see temperatures plunge in the coming days, with some snow predicted for high-lying areas and mountains – possibly even Table Mountain. According to the ever reliable WindGuru predictor, a strong cold front will bring plenty of rainfall from Thursday, which is likely to persist through to Sunday. It is the plunging temperatures on Sunday that will certainly catch the attention of those in Cape Town, with single digits expected in the early hours of the morning, while its unlikely to rise much beyond 12°C even at the peak of the day. There is some snow predicted across the high-lying areas and mountain passes of most provinces between Thursday and Monday, but it's really the Western Cape peaks that could get quite a heavy dusting of snow. Interestingly, there is even a chance that the iconic Table Mountain could see some snowfall, although if it is does materialise on Sunday, it's expected to be extremely light. There is also a chance of some light snowfall in Gauteng as temperatures plunge to the low single digits during the early hours, particularly on Monday. What weather can Springbok fans expect at Loftus?
As the Springboks prepare for their first Test of the year against Italy at Loftus, the good news for spectators is that far more favourable weather conditions are expected compared to what was seen in Cape Town this past weekend for the Barbarians game. According to the ever reliable WindGuru website, Saturday looks set to be a pearler of a day, with temperatures rising to a peak of 19°C just prior to kick off (which is at 17:10). There are expected to be clear skies all day and hardly any wind to speak of as the Springboks look to enjoy home ground advantage at altitude. Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus said that the team were looking forward to the drier conditions that can be expected in Pretoria on Saturday. 'Some of the half gaps and some of the line breaks we made would have stuck if the weather had been drier' he said. 'We can't wait to play on a dry pitch and improve on our attack. 'We want to get better, the next three matches we'll be trying to focus on us before we hit the Castle Lager Rugby Championship.' Italy may be ranked 10th in the world, but the Springboks expect a tough encounter against the visitors this weekend, especially given their emphasis on the scrums and the quality of their rugby in general. 'Unlike the Barbarians, who do not play regularly, Italy do, so we will be facing a proper Test team on Saturday,' said assistant coach Daan Human. 'The one thing about the Springboks is that we do not underestimate any side, and we know that Italy are very focused on their forward play, so it will be a proper Test match.' Human elaborated on Italy's performances this season and in the set pieces: 'They were very competitive in their first two Six Nations matches, and they have a 93% scrum completion rate, which says a lot about that area of their game. 'They also won four scrum penalties and got a penalty try against Namibia, who had a few players who have played in Rugby World Cups before, so we certainly respect them as a team.
