KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 — A 12-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries nearly 24 hours after she was hit by a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) driven by a 17-year-old in Kampung Bukit Kuching, Kuala Selangor. According to Harian Metro, Kuala Selangor district police chief Superintendent Azaharudin Tajudin said police received a report at 3.30pm yesterday after the Year Six pupil was pronounced dead at Tanjong Karang Hospital. 'Initial investigations found the crash occurred at 6.45pm the previous day. The victim had been riding a Yamaha Ego Solaris motorcycle from Kampung Bukit Kuching to Kampung Sungai Buloh, Jeram. 'The Perodua Alza, driven by a male Form Five student, was heading from Jalan Rizab Haji Omar to Jalan Rizab Zazuli. 'Upon reaching the four-way junction, the victim is believed to have suddenly entered the intersection, leaving the driver no time to avoid the collision,' he was quoted as saying. Azaharudin added that the impact threw the girl onto the windscreen of the Alza before she landed on the road shoulder. 'She sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Tanjong Karang Hospital, but was later confirmed dead. 'The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,' he said. He also confirmed that the Perodua Alza belonged to the teen's mother. 'The matter of whether the MPV was driven without the family's knowledge is still under investigation,' he added.

Verdict: TRUE Police have issued a RM300 fine to the driver of a lorry caught obstructing a fire engine belonging to the Fire and Rescue Department on Jalan Ipoh-Kuala Lumpur near Kampar, Perak. According to Kampar District OCPD Supt Mohamad Nazri Daud, the incident came to light through a viral video on TikTok. The video shows a fire engine, sirens blaring, attempting to make its way to respond to an emergency. "The footage clearly shows the fire engine trying to overtake, but the lorry refused to give way," said Supt Mohamad Nazri in a statement on Tuesday (July 22). Lorry driver fined RM300 for blocking fire engine during emergency

IPOH: A lorry driver has been fined RM300 for obstructing a Fire and Rescue Department vehicle responding to an emergency along Jalan Ipoh–Kuala Lumpur, despite its sirens being activated. Kampar police chief Superintendent Mohamad Nazri Daud said the summons was issued after a video of the incident went viral, showing the fire engine struggling to overtake the lorry, which failed to give way. "The incident sparked public concern over the safety and priority of emergency vehicles during critical operations," he said in a statement today. Police identified the driver following an investigation by the Kampar District Police Headquarters (IPD). Initial enquiries revealed that the driver claimed he was unaware of the fire engine due to the loud noise of the lorry's engine and the windows being fully shut, which muffled the sirens. The summons was issued under Section 9(2) of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN166/59) for failing to give way to an emergency vehicle. Mohamad Nazri reminded road users of their legal obligation to yield to emergency vehicles such as ambulances, police cars and fire engines when sirens or warning lights are activated, warning that failure to comply not only breaches the law but could also delay rescue operations and endanger lives.
