Use of Non-GAAP Information
To provide investors and others with additional information regarding Greenidge's financial results, Greenidge has disclosed in this press release the non-GAAP operating performance measures of Adjusted EBITDA. Adjusted EBITDA is defined as earnings before interest, taxes and depreciation and amortization, which is then adjusted for stock-based compensation and other special items determined by management, including, but not limited to, gains or losses from the sales of assets, insurance proceeds and the impact of subsidiary deconsolidation. These non-GAAP financial measures are a supplement to and not a substitute for or superior to, Greenidge's results presented in accordance with U.S. GAAP. The non-GAAP financial measures presented by Greenidge may be different from non-GAAP financial measures presented by other companies. Specifically, Greenidge believes the non-GAAP information provides useful measures to investors regarding Greenidge's financial performance by excluding certain costs and expenses that Greenidge believes are not indicative of its core operating results. The presentation of these non-GAAP financial measures is not meant to be considered in isolation or as a substitute for results or guidance prepared and presented in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Because of these limitations, EBITDA and Adjusted EBITDA should not be considered in isolation or as a substitute for performance measures calculated in accordance with GAAP. Greenidge compensates for these limitations by relying primarily on its GAAP results and using EBITDA and Adjusted EBITDA on a supplemental basis.

Meta's Momentum Hits a CapEx Hurdle
Needham has lifted Meta (NASDAQ:META) Platforms to a hold from underperform, balancing strong top-line and margin forecasts against rising costs and heavy capital spending. Analyst Laura Martin shifted Meta's rating after noting that improving labor productivity is slowingheadcount and cost per full-time employee are climbing, which dampens share gains. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 6 Warning Sign with META. Still, Needham expects Meta to outpace its own targets, forecasting 14% revenue growth and 6% EPS growth in fiscal 2025. The firm stopped short of a buy call because Meta's CapEx is set to surge: Needham projects $68 billion in FY25, up 84% year-over-yearthe steepest increase among hyperscalers. Meanwhile, rivals like Google (NASDAQ:GOOG), Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) own scalable cloud assets, giving them a structural cost edge. As Meta stock rallies about 22% year-to-datewell ahead of the S&P 500's roughly 6% gaina hold rating signals caution. Heavy spending on AI infrastructure raises questions about return on invested capital, and the company still faces heightened regulatory scrutiny over privacy, antitrust and content moderation. Needham's neutral stance underscores a trade-off: Meta's growth outlook remains solid, but swelling budgets and cost disadvantages argue for patience over buying. Wells Fargo Scandal Drove Borrowers to Fintech Lenders, UC Davis Study Suggests
BUSINESS WIRE)--The Wells Fargo financial scandal in 2016 diminished consumer trust in traditional banks while driving homebuyers to fintech lenders for mortgages, a University of California, Davis, study suggests. 'I document that geographic areas with larger exposures to the Wells Fargo scandal increased the probability of consumers choosing fintech for their mortgage lender,' said Yang, an assistant professor at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management. The paper, 'Trust as an entry barrier: Evidence from FinTech adoption,' was published online in the Journal of Financial Economics. The paper was written by Keer Yang, an assistant professor in the UC Davis Graduate School of Management specializing in finance and financial technology. 'I document that geographic areas with larger exposures to the Wells Fargo scandal increased the probability of consumers choosing fintech for their mortgage lender,' Yang said. Short for financial technology, fintech refers to products and services designed to let consumers and businesses conduct banking and other financial services digitally. The difference in interest rates and other fees for comparable 30-year, fixed-rate loans on single-family homes between banks and fintech lenders did not change after the 2016 scandal. 'Therefore it is trust, not the interest rate, that affects the borrower's probability of choosing a fintech lender,' Yang wrote. Financial scandal erupts In one of the most prominent bank scandals since the global financial crisis of 2008, Wells Fargo was fined $3 billion by the federal government over allegations that bank employees, under pressure to meet unrealistic sales goals, had opened millions of accounts and saddled customers with fees 'under false pretenses and without consent' between 2002 and 2016. While a Los Angeles Times story documented the alleged practices in 2013, the scandal did not erupt until 2016, when Wells Fargo initially was fined $185 million by federal regulators, capturing national attention. Data analysis Yang analyzed Gallup poll answers regarding trust in banks, internet searches on 'Google Trends' on bank scandals, newspaper articles about the Wells Fargo fines and scandal, and deposits and mortgage loan data sets in traditional banks and in fintech lenders. The period examined was 2012 to 2021. Use of financial services increased from 2% of the market in 2010, before any knowledge of the Wells Fargo scandal, to 8% in 2016, according to the research paper. Furthermore, in areas with Wells Fargo banks — where exposure to the scandal was more pronounced — customers were on average 4% more likely to use non-bank lenders than any banks after 2016. The scandal had a minimal effect on bank deposits, probably because of protections afforded by deposit insurance, Yang said.

Tesla Robotaxis are already speeding, swerving lanes following late June launch, videos show
Tesla launched its Robotaxi service less than two weeks ago on June 22. Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) is having a roller coaster of a year. The clean energy and electric vehicle company's share price plummeted by over 41% from January to April. It has since rebounded by over 42% from its yearly low of $221.86 a share to $315.65 a share as of July 2. One of the company's latest innovations is the Robotaxi, a fully autonomous Tesla electric vehicle that's able to transport passengers without any interactions or guidance from a driver. The Robotaxi is already under investigation by the United States for breaking the rules of the road, according to The Guardian. Tesla Robotaxis are already breaking rules after June launch Tesla has been able to accomplish amazing feats in terms of production, sales, and technological innovations over the years. That said, its CEO Elon Musk has developed a habit of making grandiose claims regarding the true capabilities of products and services. One example is the company's full-self driving software. The software was involved in at least one fatal crash, as reported by Bloomberg in June. Robotaxis are a much newer product than Tesla's full-self driving system. Since they operate without drivers, it's much easier to assign blame to the technology rather than the driver in instances of accidents or infractions. So far, Robotaxis have been seen violating traffic laws by crossing yellow lines and exceeding posted speed limits, according to a June 23 video description from Yahoo Finance. This is especially worrisome since the Tesla launched its Robotaxi service less than two weeks ago on June 22. How safe is a Robotaxi? It's too early to definitely answer whether or not Tesla's Robotaxi service is safe, but it's clear that riders have experienced some mishaps first-hand. These mishaps range from awkward driving style to clear infractions. So far, the Robotaxi service hasn't been involved in any serious or fatal accidents, but Americans have been compiling different incidents on Reddit. While the Robotaxi doesn't appear to be deadly (within the first few weeks of rollout) it's evident that the technology isn't infallible. Additionally, there are instances of the Robotaxi potentially damaging property including stopping so close to a parked vehicle that its tire directly contacted its body. The future of self-driving cars Companies like Tesla and Waymo (a subsidiary of Google's Alphabet Inc.) have invested big bucks into self-driving technology. Tesla was early to the semi-autonomous driving game and several automakers have since followed suit. That said, Tesla and Waymo are competing to make driverless vehicles ubiquitous, which could have serious repercussions for the jobs and safety of Americans. Self-driving taxi services pose a significant threat to traditional taxi services, according to the Brookings Institution, a research foundation in Washington D.C. Based on recent Robotaxi videos, the technology has a long way to go before becoming safe enough to deploy in more major cities.
