Coronation Street star Sally Ann Matthews axed from ITV soap
She first appeared on the ITV soap (as Jenny Connor) back in 1986.
Matthews departed the show in 1991, and apart from a brief appearance in 1993, she returned to cobbles in 2015.
However, Matthews is now set for her second departure from Coronation Street, revealing on Friday (August 1) that she will be leaving the ITV soap after "doing an extra ten years".
In a post on Instagram, she said: "I was supposed to stay for five months but ended up doing an extra ten years because I loved it so much!
"It's time though to play those parts I always hoped I would when I'd 'grown up.'
"Thanks Trafford Wharf Rd for the memories and endless laughter."

Fellow TV stars and fans of the show took to social media following the news to share just how "wonderful" Matthews had been on Coronation Street and how much she would be missed.
Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies, commenting on Matthews' Instagram post, said: "You've been absolutely wonderful!"
While former Coronation Street and Casualty actress Melanie Hill commented: "Onwards Sal. Corrie will miss you."

One fan, posting on X (formerly Twitter), wrote: "Losing Sally Ann Matthews and Sue Devaney is going to hit #Corrie HARD given the lack of classic Corrie characters in that demographic. Jenny and Debbie ARE Corrie.
"How much left is there that we can call true Corrie. Bad omens, think there's a genuine crisis there."
Another added: "Even though I'm not watching corrie atm sally ann matthews leaving is going to be a massive loss for the show."

Coronation Street fans 'rumble' who had Logan 'killed' after brutal exit
Coronation Street fans think they know what really happened to Logan Radcliffe and who had him 'attacked' amid speculation he's been killed off after his exit aired Logan in Coronation Street was feared dead on Friday night, after he was seemingly attacked before an exit was confirmed. The baddie appeared to have said too much to Carla Connor during a prison visit, and soon a cellmate warned him he'd been a bit too chatty. Logan looked terrified as he pleaded his innocence, and the cell door closed indicating an attack was about to happen. It comes as Logan actor Harry Lowbridge announced his exit from the show, revealing his final scenes had been filmed and aired. With that, fans were convinced this confirmed that Logan was dead after whatever happened in the cell, with someone organising him being silenced after his comments about a mystery person called Tia Wardley. Carla had been desperate for answers on what happened to her partner Lisa Swain's late wife Becky Swain. Lisa was struggling to move forward, not knowing for sure if Becky was in trouble before her death and why she was killed in a hit and run. As Carla visited Logan for answers about Becky, he demanded £10,000 for information he may have. He then let slip a name, Tia Wardley, while no context was given about who they were or how it was linked to Becky. It was enough to land Logan in trouble with a cellmate over a "mutual friend" he'd upset though, with him clearly needing to be silenced. After the episode ended, actor Harry took to Instagram to announce his exit from the show. Confirming his final scenes had now aired, the ones with the random cellmate, he confirmed post-attack he would not be seen again. With that, fans were convinced Logan was now dead. So was Logan killed for saying too much and who would want him silenced? Who was this mutual friend the cellmate knew, and how are they linked to the Becky plot and the mystery Tia? Viewers think there could be a twist and that the person wanting Logan dead could be none other than former show villain Harvey Gaskell. Others think it's DI Costello or even Lisa's therapist Floyd, given they are keen for Lisa to stop looking into what happened to Becky. Lisa herself was also named as a surprise culprit, while Becky and Tia were also tipped by fans to be the "mutual friend". Taking to social media one fan said: "Lisa definitely had Logan killed in prison." Another fan said: "So that mutual friend? Costello? Kit? Tia? Or Becky herself?" A third fan posted: "Best guess at the moment is Costello or Floyd." A further theory read: "Was the killer sent by Costello?" as another asked: "Harvey???" Another fan commented: "It's ether Costello or Kit got Logan attacked inside." Davina McCall ‘not afraid of dying' after brain tumour removed
In April, the 57-year-old confirmed her 'final MRI' had showed a colloid cyst, which she had removed in November 2024, is 'not coming back', after it was found when she was offered a health check-up as part of her menopause advocacy work. McCall told Fearne Cotton's Happy Place podcast: 'I am not afraid of dying anymore and it was the biggest journey of my life. From August 23 to November 24 was an amazing time where something changed. 'Begin Again, the podcast I started to help other people on their journey of living a life that they love enough to feel on their deathbed, whenever that may be, that I have no regrets. 'I have lived the life I wanted, and I'm not lying there going, 'I wish I'd done that thing, wish I'd done that job, I wish I'd not stayed in this relationship', all of those I haven't lived the life I want (things), and Begin Again is about just begin again and live the life you want.' McCall, who is a judge on ITV singing show The Masked Singer, said her only concern about death is how her family would cope. Speaking about the time her tumour was found, she added: 'I thought I need to get my brain in the right place and that was to a place where I could be calm, and what did I need to do to do that? Were my kids going to be okay if I didn't make it? That's all I really cared about. 'I knew Michael (Douglas, her partner), Michael's a whole person, Michael's Michael, but I was really worried about my kids. 'I went forensic on thinking about my children and where they were at in their life, what stage they were at. You're only as happy as your unhappiest child, right? 'I came to a realisation after about six months of cross-examining them about their life and telling them the whole time how much I've loved my life. My eldest daughter kept caught on. She was like, 'you are not dying', I was like, 'no, no, no', I realised that they would be great. 'They'd miss me and I want to be with them but they would be okay. I felt like I could go to sleep on the operating table and know that they were all here to help me, but I can let go of the outcome and it was the best gift. I am not afraid of dying.' After her surgery, McCall spent time in intensive care before recovering at home with the help of Douglas. She spoke about the removal of the tumour while co-presenting this year's Red Nose Day for Comic Relief and said it was 'the hardest thing I've ever been through'. According to the NHS, non-cancerous brain tumours are more common in people over the age of 50, and symptoms include headaches, vision problems and drowsiness, and some can be 'difficult to remove without damaging surrounding tissue'. McCall, the host of reality dating show My Mum, Your Dad, has long advocated for women's health issues, and has presented a documentary called Sex, Myths And The Menopause and another on contraception called Davina McCall's Pill Revolution. She became an MBE in the King's birthday honours for services to broadcasting in 2023 and was given a special recognition gong at the National Television Awards in 2024 for her broadcasting career. The full interview can be listened to on the Happy Place with Fearne Cotton podcast.
