Uber India has significantly widened the reach of its Intercity service, now covering over 3,000 routes that connect cities across India, a jump of roughly 50 percent compared to its previous network. This expansion comes as outstation road travel continues to gain popularity, supported by India's rapidly improving highway infrastructure. MG M9 first drive review: More than just a fancy box on wheels? To complement this growth, the company is rolling out a special, time-limited Motorhome experience in the Delhi-NCR region . Available for rides from August 7 to September 6, with bookings starting August 4 via the Uber app, these Motorhomes will have a dedicated icon for easier access. Designed for 4–5 passengers, each vehicle comes equipped with comfort-focused amenities including a television, mini-fridge, microwave, and onboard lavatories . A driver and an assistant will accompany the trip, aiming to provide passengers with a relaxed and convenient long-distance travel experience. Standard Intercity features like advance booking through Uber Reserve, live tracking, mid-trip stop additions, and 24x7 support remain part of the package. Uber reports that its Intercity segment has enjoyed consistent year-on-year growth, fueled by both leisure and essential travel. Over the last year, popular city pairs have included Mumbai–Pune, Delhi–Agra, Bengaluru–Mysore, Lucknow–Kanpur, and Ahmedabad–Vadodara. Travel demand typically spikes during long weekends, festive seasons such as Diwali, Holi, Eid, and India's peak wedding months. Fridays emerge as the most common travel day, with early mornings and the 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. window seeing the highest departures when traffic is lighter. While round trips are frequently booked for vacations, religious visits, and events, one-way rides are largely tied to business travel, family visits, and airport or railway station transfers. This Motorhome project is being positioned as a pilot program, allowing Uber to gauge customer interest in premium long-distance travel solutions while introducing a new layer of comfort to intercity mobility. Speaking about the stellar growth of Uber Intercity, Shweta Mantri, Head of Rider Verticals, Uber India and South Asia said, 'More and more people are choosing to hit the road for quick getaways, family visits, or even business meetings, and they want travel that's easy, reliable, and comfortable. That's exactly what Uber Intercity offers, and with the expansion of routes we're doubling down on transforming outstation road travel for millions.' Uber says riders filed fake receipts in over 100 sex assault cases in US

Uber said it found more than 100 instances in which passengers who claimed its drivers sexually assaulted or harassed them offered bogus or doctored receipts to prove ridership, or did not explain their inability to provide a Wednesday court filing, Uber urged US District Judge Charles Breyer in San Francisco to order 21 plaintiffs with suspect receipts to justify why their claims should not be dismissed, and 90 plaintiffs with no receipts to either provide them or "non-boilerplate" reasons for their least 11 law firms represent the various plaintiffs, court papers show. They were not accused of wrongdoing. Uber is trying to reduce its liability in nationwide federal litigation comprising more than 2,450 lawsuits alleging driver misconduct. The San Francisco-based company faces several hundred additional lawsuits in San Francisco Superior Court.'We take any allegations seriously and are reviewing Uber's latest claims," lawyers Rachel Abrams, Sarah London and Roopal Luhana, who lead the federal litigation on behalf of the plaintiffs, said in a joint added that Uber knows some sexual assault victims may lack receipts because other people ordered their rides, and the possible elevated risk of being assaulted that guest passengers face makes Uber's focus on documentation "more troubling."Uber has maintained it should not be liable for criminal conduct by drivers it connects with passengers, and that its background checks and disclosures were July 8, Breyer dismissed some fraud and liability claims that were based on ads promoting Uber's ride-sharing service as a safe alternative to Wednesday's filing, Uber said some fake receipts appear to have been generated through third-party said some receipts contained math errors or bogus surcharges, changed female driver names to male names, were time-stamped before rides occurred, had stray marks, or used formatting that does not match its plaintiff submitted two receipts for a single ride, while two plaintiffs submitted different versions of the same receipt, the company said."Nothing is more critical to the integrity of our judicial system than honesty," Uber said. "It is difficult to conceive an act of misconduct graver than the outright fabrication of evidence that plaintiffs here undertook."- EndsTrending Reel

Uber Intercity grows to 3,000 routes; unveils premium Motorhomes service

Uber adds 1,000 new routes in intercity push; pilot of luxury Motorhomes to offer TV, lavatory, and mini-fridge for premium getaways starting August 7 Udisha Srivastav New Delhi Uber has expanded its Intercity services across India by nearly 50 per cent, now covering over 3,000 point-to-point routes. Company executives expect this growth trajectory to continue in the next calendar year as demand for intercity travel picks up. "We are growing roughly in the range of 40 to 50 per cent year-on-year. I think that's the kind of growth we continue to anticipate for the years to come, and hopefully even break that record," said Shweta Mantri, head of rider verticals at Uber India and South Asia, speaking on the sidelines of a company event in New Delhi on Thursday. Among the most travelled Intercity corridors over the past year were Mumbai–Pune, Delhi–Agra, Bangalore–Mysore, Lucknow–Kanpur, and Ahmedabad–Vadodara—especially around long weekends and holidays. Fridays emerged as the most preferred departure day, with travellers choosing early morning hours or the mid-afternoon lull (2 PM–3 PM) to beat traffic. To further accelerate adoption of Intercity services, Uber announced the pilot of a premium offering—Motorhomes—in Delhi's National Capital Region. The one-month pilot, starting August 7, is aimed at travellers seeking luxury and comfort for short getaways. Bookings for Motorhomes will open on August 4 and can be made through the Uber Intercity or Uber Reserve options. The vehicle can accommodate four to five riders and comes equipped with premium amenities including a television, lavatory, microwave, and mini-refrigerator—effectively creating a private lounge-on-wheels. "Our objective is to bring this elevated experience to life for our consumers, see how the pilot goes, what the demand is, and other factors," said Mantri. She noted that given the nature of the offering, pricing will be higher than Uber's regular services. The pilot coincides with the onset of India's festive season and a string of long weekends—periods during which rider interest typically spikes. Uber expects strong demand around Diwali, Holi, Eid, and the summer wedding season. With Intercity travel on the rise and premium services being tested, Uber aims to enhance its platform with both scale and variety, catering to budget-conscious travellers and those seeking curated experiences.
