Anil Parab says Yogesh Kadam surrendered bar's orchestra license after allegations, demands his resignation
Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Parab alleged that the Savali Bar, located in Kandivali, was being operated illegally by Kadam's family and had been raided by police in 2023 and again earlier this year.
He claimed that police reports and documents, which have been obtained through the Right to Information (RTI) Act, indicated that the bar was the site of obscene performances and money being thrown at dancers, in violation of licensing norms.
'They have surrendered the license to the government, but that cannot absolve the minister of the charge that his family ran a dance bar,' Parab said. 'Surrendering the license is an admission of guilt,' he added.
Kadam, who belongs to the Shiv Sena headed by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has not publicly responded to the renewed allegations.
Messages sent by The Indian Express to Kadam seeking comments elicited no response.
During a recent session of the Legislative Council, Kadam had acknowledged that the license was in his mother's name, but claimed that the bar had been leased to a third party and that his family was not involved in its operations.
Parab rejected that explanation, asserting that license holders remain legally accountable for the premises. 'How can a Minister of State for Home be allowed to continue when his own family is linked to such a serious violation of law?' he said. 'If Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis does not act, it will set a dangerous precedent.'
Parab also alleged that the bar had been misclassified in government records and operated in violation of its license conditions. He further claimed that Kadam's family was involved in the illegal diversion of sand from the Jagbudi River in Ratnagiri for the construction of a private dental college affiliated with them.
The political rivalry between Kadam and Parab traces back to their time in the undivided Shiv Sena, particularly when Parab served as the Guardian Minister for Ratnagiri district between 2019 and 2022 — the home district of Kadam's father, senior Sena leader Ramdas Kadam.

BJP slams Cong govt over revival of HP lottery scheme
A day after the cash-strapped Himachal Pradesh government approved revival of the state-run lotteries to boost revenue, a war of words began between Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The state cabinet on Thursday gave its nod to initiate the operation of lotteries in the state that has been banned since 1999. Protesting against the same, the BJP announced a major protest in Mandi on August 6 demanding immediate withdrawal of the lottery system while Congress defended the revival of the state lottery. The state cabinet on Thursday gave its nod to initiate the operation of lotteries in the state that has been banned since 1999. Launching a scathing attack at the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government in state, BJP state president Dr Rajeev Bindal said, 'The Sukhu government promised one lakh government jobs in its very first Cabinet meeting. Now, three years later, they have launched a lottery system and are asking the youth to buy tickets to change their fate. This is not governance—it's exploitation.' Slamming the Congress, Bindal said, 'The Cabinet's decision to reintroduce the lottery system is a mockery of the unemployed. Instead of generating employment opportunities, the government is pushing youth towards gambling and false hope.' Calling lottery system 'anti-people', Bindal questioned the government's rationale behind reviving the lottery, which was previously banned in 1999-2000 by the BJP-led government under Prem Kumar Dhumal, restarted by the Congress in 2004, and again banned in 2007. Now, in 2025, the Congress has once again decided to reintroduce it. State looks at generating ₹100-cr revenue Reeling under debt of more than ₹1 lakh crore, the state government is looking for measures to generate revenue and thus the cabinet has approved revival of state lottery. The finance department made a detailed presentation before the cabinet on the issue of starting operation of lotteries in the hill state to generate additional revenue. The decision has been taken on the recommendation of the Resource Mobilisation Committee, headed by deputy chief minister Mukesh Agnihotri. Lottery was banned in the state by the Himachal government headed by BJP leader Prem Kumar Dhumal in 1999 and made its violation punishable under Lotteries (Regulation) Act. Cong defends decision Defending the state's decision of reviving the state lottery, technical education minister Rajesh Dharmani said, 'The Union government has no control over online and offline betting and people are losing their hard-earned money in this'. He added, 'On the contrary, the lottery being started by the state government will be under a legitimate process, which will generate revenue for the state'.

Mumbai court grants bail to doctor accused of aiding teacher in teen's sexual assault
A special court under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Thursday granted bail to a West Bengal-based doctor accused of aiding the 40-year-old female teacher in the alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old student at a reputed school in Mumbai. Panel attorneys make $175 an hour in non-capital cases, and a maximum of $223 an hour in capital cases. Image for representation(Pexel) The doctor, arrested on July 18 and remanded to judicial custody on July 23, was booked for allegedly prescribing anti-anxiety pills to the teenage boy that allegedly allowed the teacher to coerce him into submission and prolonged sexual relationship, though the teacher has denied the charges. Special judge Sabina A Malik, while allowing the bail plea, noted that the doctor was 'not the main accused' and that custodial interrogation was complete. 'There is nothing more to be recovered or discovered at the hands of this applicant,' the court observed, adding that 'the trial will take time to commence, and in the meantime, nothing fruitful would be gained by keeping this applicant behind bars.' The prosecution, as well as the minor survivor, opposed the bail plea. In a written submission, the boy said he feared manipulation or harm if the doctor were released, and that her freedom would leave him in a state of 'perpetual fear.' Granting bail on a personal bond of ₹50,000 with solvent sureties, the court imposed strict conditions: the doctor must not contact the survivor, tamper with evidence, or leave Mumbai without prior permission. 'Breach of any condition will amount to cancellation of bail forthwith,' the order stated. This development comes weeks after the court also granted bail to the boy's former teacher, who had been arrested under provisions of the POCSO Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Juvenile Justice Act. The teacher, who allegedly exploited the student over more than a year, was accused of luring him to five-star hotels, intoxicating him with alcohol and pills, and engaging in repeated sexual acts between January 2024 and February 2025. In her defence, the teacher argued that the FIR was 'motivated' and filed at the behest of the boy's mother. She claimed the relationship was consensual after the boy turned 16, and cited affectionate messages, handwritten notes, and a tattoo of her name on his body to support her claims. While granting her bail last month, the court observed that her resignation from the school in April 2024 had altered the 'student–teacher dynamic' and noted her responsibilities as a single mother of twins, one of whom is medically vulnerable. Both the doctor and the teacher remain accused under serious charges, including sections of the POCSO Act, BNS, and the Juvenile Justice Act. The court has warned that any violation of bail terms by either party will lead to immediate cancellation of relief.
