Teen killed over gaming dispute
As per the complaint filed by Naganath Arjun Kurhade, 42, on Saturday, 'Following a verbal dispute with the accused while playing the 'Vyapar' game on the terrace of their neighbour Chaitanya Yadav's house, his 14-year-old son told his elder brother about it.'
Gorakh Kumbhar, senior inspector, Sant Tukaramnagar Police Station, said, 'When the 16-year-old asked Soheb about the confrontation, the latter physically assaulted him. The minor later succumbed to injuries. The deceased was a Class 12 student and his brother is in Class 8.'
Police have filed a case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Lucknow: Kushinagar police on Sunday cracked an extortion case in which a jeweller received WhatsApp messages demanding Rs 5 crore under threat of death. The accused, Aryan Upadhyay, a resident of Sarpathahi Buzurg under the Nebua Naurangia police station, was arrested within hours of the complaint. The victim, Anshuman Banka, a well-known jeweller in Padrauna, lodged an FIR after receiving threatening WhatsApp messages. The sender, operating under the alias 'Munna Tabahi,' claimed to be from 'AK-47 Gang', wrote in one of the messages: "Give Rs 5 crore or I'll shoot you in broad daylight at a public crossing. You have 24 hours." Kushinagar SP Santosh Kumar Mishra immediately formed a multi-unit task force comprising personnel from the Padrauna police, Nebua Naurangia police, SWAT team, cyber cell, and surveillance units. Through electronic surveillance and technical analysis, the police traced the number to Aryan Upadhyay, who was promptly arrested. The mobile phone used to send the threats was recovered from his possession. "During interrogation, Aryan confessed to sending the threats with the intention of intimidating the jeweller. He admitted that there is no such gang as the 'AK-47 Gang' and that the threats were made in a fit of anger to scare the trader. He further revealed that he had similarly threatened a journalist in Nebua Naurangia earlier this month. A separate case (FIR No. 283/2025 under BNS 351(2) and IT Act 67) has been registered in that incident," Mishra said.

Three, including two nuns, held for human trafficking in Chhattisgarh
RAIPUR: Three persons, including two Catholic nuns who had reportedly come from Agra, were arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Durg on Friday for alleged human trafficking amid suspicion of coerced religious conversion. They were remanded to 14-day judicial custody, a police officer said. The trio were booked under BNS Section 143 (trafficking of persons). All three were caught accompanying three young women aged between 18 and 20 years, hailing from Narayanpur district in south Bastar, after Bajrang Dal activists spotted them at Durg railway station. The group was allegedly preparing to travel to Agra for training and subsequent employment opportunities. Bajrang Dal members staged demonstrations at the Durg GRP police station demanding strict action against those allegedly involved in human trafficking and forced religious conversion. 'The nuns had come to Durg merely a day before without any valid reason. They were about to board a train along with the rescued girls to Agra when we spotted them,' said Ravi Nigam, a Bajrang Dal leader. Members of the Christian community also gathered at the GRP Durg station and were seen defending the nuns. The two nuns — Preeti Marry and Vandana Francis — who had come from Agra, along with Sukhman Mandavi from Narayanpur, were produced before a local court in Durg and remanded to 14-day judicial custody. The rescued girls have been sent to the Sakhi One Stop Centre in Durg. Meanwhile, Congress MP K C Venugopal has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai seeking stringent action against the perpetrators. He also urged the government to uphold constitutional rights and religious freedom in the state. The Congress leader alleged that BJP-ruled states are witnessing a rampant rise in attacks on minorities. 'The latest attacks by Bajrang Dal goons on two Catholic nuns in Durg, Chhattisgarh, point to a tacit support for such hate crimes from the ruling establishment,' Venugopal wrote on X.

Ahmedabad: A 38-year-old woman who works as a senior data analyst with a top IT company filed a detailed domestic violence complaint at Maninagar police station. She accused her husband, also an IT professional, of physical and mental cruelty, including forcing her to continue a pregnancy, refusing physical intimacy for nearly two years and having an extramarital affair. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In her complaint, the woman, originally from Bengaluru and now living with her parents in Ahmedabad, stated that the couple met through a matrimonial app and were married in 2012 with the consent of their families. Initially settled in Bengaluru, she said her husband began harassing her over dowry and pressured her to quit her job. When she resumed work later, he allegedly started taunting and abusing her. She alleged that in 2016, she was pressured into pregnancy and left her job. In 2017, after giving birth to their son, she briefly returned to Bengaluru. Over the next few years, she claimed, the emotional abuse continued. According to her, her husband stopped having physical relations since 2023 and would offer excuses. Suspicious, she checked his phone and allegedly found private photos of another woman. When confronted, he reportedly became violent. The situation worsened in April 2025 when she found her husband viewing photos of another woman on his phone. When she tried to take the phone, he allegedly slapped her. Days later, he reportedly left home and sent her a message in May saying he vacated their Bengaluru home and would send divorce papers. She also alleged that unknown persons sent her threat messages on Instagram and WhatsApp, warning her to leave him. Concerned for her and her son's safety, she returned to Ahmedabad. She further alleged that her husband took away jewellery from their house and threatened to take custody of their son. Maninagar police registered an FIR of domestic violence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and began an inquiry.
