The Block's Dan and Dani Reilly break down while sharing heartbreaking family tragedy
The series foreman kicked off the episode's pre-start meeting with wife Dani, who broke down as they spoke for the first time on television about the loss of their daughter, Billie.
The reality TV couple tragically lost their daughter in December last year at just ten days old.
'I guess most people here would know our journey last year. We had our little girl, Billie – she arrived on the eighth of the twelfth last year,' Dan told the assembled cast and crew.
'Due to some... complications through birth we only got to spend ten days with our beautiful girl, Billie.'
As the mood became more sombre, Dani continued: 'So, we're actually very grateful for those ten days – her time was spent in the NICU department at the Women's Hospital in Melbourne.'
He was quick to praise the NICU staff, with Dani echoing his sentiments.
'Unfortunately, it didn't end in the way that it should have for us, but our time there, as Dan said, was really with Billie,' Dani said.
'Getting to know the nurses and doctors will be probably one of the things that we remember forever.'
Dan then added that he and Dani were on a 'mission' to raise funds and awareness for NICUs around the country as well as Red Nose Australia.
'Their support for us has been absolutely amazing and they guide you through something that nobody should ever have to go through.'
Dani added: 'And we're grateful for The Block for giving us the platform to be able to raise awareness for these organisations that were there for us.'
To honour their daughter's memory, Dan and Dani have established Billie's Besties, a foundation that aims to raise money for the NICU at the Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne.
The couple struggled to hold back tears as they recounted the harrowing story, and tenderly embraced as the teams also became visibly emotional.
Since December, the couple has raised more than $93,000 for NICU support as a tribute to Billie.
The reality TV couple took to Instagram in December to share the devastating news that their daughter, Billie Vera Reilly, had passed away on Wednesday at just 10 days old.
They posted a photograph of themselves with their arms around one another as they stood beside their daughter's cot in hospital.
In a heartbreaking tribute, Dani shared her 'insurmountable' grief and said she and Dan both felt 'honoured' to be Billie's parents.
They wrote: 'Billie Vera Reilly 8/12/24 - 18/12/24. It is with insurmountable grief that we share the news that our daughter Billie, has passed on from this life and into the next at just 10 days young.
'In Billie's short time in this world, she taught us an intensity of both love and pain we never knew possible. She taught us what really matters.
'Billie was so wanted, so loved and she made us parents… and what an honour it is to be her mummy and daddy. She will always be our daughter.
'It's clear to us that Billie was far too good for this world but if we know anything for sure, it's that Billie's legacy will make an impact greater than all of us.
'Thank you @mrskevinsphotos for capturing such beautiful family photos for us and also for @heartfelt_ausnz for capturing many of Billie's firsts.'
The couple first hit national attention when they appeared on the 2012 series of The Block.
The pair, who were dating at the time, took out second place honours and a profit of $448,000.
The pair returned in 2013 for The Block All Stars series, walking away with third place and a profit of $220,000.
Dan has since taken on a role as foreman on the show and they also host the Dan vs Dani series, critiquing each team's Room Reveals every week.
The couple tied the knot in 2018 in an intimate ceremony on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.

Why this photo signalled the beginning of the end for Simon Goodwin at the Melbourne Demons
When the call finally came for Simon Goodwin, it arrived quietly and without ceremony. On Monday night, interim Melbourne president Brad Green and other senior club officials told the 48‑year‑old coach that his time in charge of the Demons was over. The board decided they could not follow him after years of controversy and poor results that faded the team's 2021 premiership magic. Although Goodwin had another season to run on his contract, the club wanted change for 2026 and paid him around $1million to leave. Many fans trace the downfall back to one photo posted on social media three years ago. In February 2022, amid a wave of damaging headlines about his alleged behaviour, Goodwin's captain and staunch ally Max Gawn uploaded an image to Instagram. The Demons' fairytale flag feels distant as off‑field dramas and bitter divisions overwhelm the premiership‑winning coach It showed the pair seated together at the Hotel Sorrento, beers in hand, joined by wedding groom Myles Pitt. They were relaxed and smiling, the sun glinting off their glasses, the kind of casual shot you might expect to see from any group of friends at a coastal pub. Yet the timing was anything but casual. Just hours earlier, it had been had reported that the Melbourne board had previously investigated Goodwin over allegations of gambling, heavy drinking with players, and workplace bullying. Some directors considered sacking him before 2021, but dropped it and he delivered the club's long‑awaited premiership that year. AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan had publicly described Goodwin's habit of drinking with players at the Sorrento pub as 'crazy,' adding an extra layer of scrutiny to a coach already under fire. Gawn's post was deliberate. Captioned 'Planning 22' at the local', it openly defied criticism and showed his loyalty to Goodwin. When Gawn fronted the media in the days that followed, he doubled down rather than retreating. 'I am going to continue to have a beer with my boss and my coach, and maybe that's when we nutted out 2021 and what we went on to achieve,' he said. Club president Kate Roffey moved swiftly to reinforce the public display of unity, issuing a statement that described Goodwin as 'an exceptional leader' and insisted that the review into his conduct had found he was 'the right man to lead our club'. The hope was that such words, coming from the very top of the organisation, would draw a line under the issue. Instead, that friendly image became, in hindsight, an early flashpoint over the line between leadership, friendship and professionalism. What followed over the next two years was a steady accumulation of off‑field distractions, internal strains, and public controversies that slowly eroded the authority Goodwin had built in the wake of the premiership. By October 2023, Melbourne's off‑season had descended into one of the ugliest in AFL memory. The Clayton Oliver trade saga erupted into chaos, with the star midfielder eventually staying but later being hospitalised after collapsing. Joel Smith tested positive for cocaine on match day and was subsequently banned for four years under the Australian Football Anti-Doping Code. Angus Brayshaw's career ended in heartbreak after a concussion in the finals, an incident that devastated the playing group and sent shockwaves through the club. There were also looming legal battles involving former president Glen Bartlett and long‑time benefactor Peter Lawrence, each dragging Melbourne into protracted disputes in the Federal Court. Then came the bombshell parliamentary speech from Independent MP Andrew Wilkie, who used parliamentary privilege to accuse the club - and more broadly, the AFL - of covering up positive drug tests. In the days that followed, former club doctor Zeeshan Arain claimed he had fabricated excuses to withdraw players from games to avoid potential sanctions under WADA rules. Through it all, Goodwin attempted to steer the team with a mix of defiance and silence. 'I don't want to convince you we have a good culture. I want to show you,' he said last October, sitting alongside CEO Gary Pert. That was before the pair travelled with football boss Alan Richardson to New Zealand to study the famed All Blacks culture. But even the most genuine study tour could not shift the perception that Melbourne's problems ran deeper than any cultural blueprint could fix. On the field, results told their own story. Melbourne lost four consecutive finals matches after their 2021 flag triumph. The 2025 season began with a demoralising five‑game losing streak and another slump of the same length midway through the year that effectively killed their finals chances. Behind closed doors, board confidence in Goodwin's leadership ebbed with each defeat. Questions arose about whether he still had the players' trust or if constant off‑field issues had weakened his authority. By the time the board met in late July this year, the consensus was clear. The man who had brought them their greatest modern triumph was no longer the man to take them forward. And it all began with that defiant photo posted by Gawn. What was intended as a signal of unity ended up becoming the beginning of a slow, public unraveling that ended with a phone call no coach wants to take.

Robert Irwin's shock new gig as he becomes the face of latest campaign
Robert Irwin has been unveiled as the face of Tourism Australia's latest international campaign. The 20-year-old celebrity conservationist leads a $130million global marketing blitz aimed at tempting travellers to experience the natural beauty of Australia. The campaign specifically targets American and Chinese audiences, with stunning shots of Robert set against iconic Australian landscapes. Tourism Australia has shared a three-minute ad on YouTube which captures an enthusiastic-looking Robert driving an American tourist through the outback. Packed with plenty of 'G'day mates' - and even a nod to the classic 'throw a shrimp on the barbie' catchphrase - the ad kicks off with a comical scene. It depicts a lost American tourist stranded in the desert without his phone, only to be rescued by Robert behind the wheel of a 4WD. 'G'day mate, just going for a stroll?' Robert asks the sunburnt traveller, who is crawling on his hands and knees. 'An emu took my phone,' the tourist replies, to which Robert helpfully says, 'Well, we better go find it,' as the pair set off across the sand dunes in search of the bird. Tourism Minister Don Farrell said the 'Come and Say G'day' campaign was building on a winning formula. 'I know this iteration, featuring popular talent like Robert Irwin, will be a smash,' he said in a statement. The campaign also features British TV chef Nigella Lawson, Chinese actor Yosh Yu and Japanese comedian Abareru-kun. It is set to be rolled out across TV and digital platforms in five key international markets - with each celebrity starring in ads tailored to their home country. It comes at a time when international travel is surging, with visitor numbers expected to hit 10 million by 2026 and 11.8 million by 2029. Tourism remains one of the nation's biggest economic drivers, supporting more than 700,000 jobs and 360,000 businesses. Tourism Australia has shared a three-minute ad on YouTube which captures an enthusiastic-looking Robert driving an American tourist through the outback. An ad teaser was first unveiled in July during Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's visit to China, with more set to go live on Thursday in the Chinese market. It comes one year after Robert joined forces with his fellow Aussie icon Bluey to be the face of a special campaign for Tourism and Events Queensland. The conservationist fronted a $9.2million international tourism campaign designed to bring more visitors into the state. In a promotional video for the campaign, Robert asks viewers: 'Ever wish you could live in Bluey's world? Well, that's all of Queensland!' He was then seen launching a red balloon into the air to begin a round of 'keepy uppy', the fun Bluey game where characters try to keep a balloon off the ground. The footage then cut to the balloon floating across some iconic QLD sights, including the Great Barrier Reef, the outback and the Gold Coast. The marketing campaign was a collaboration between Tourism and Events Queensland and BBC Studios in the UK.
