Kerala man builds dream Lamborghini replica with Alto parts, scrap materials worth Rs 1.5 lakh

Indian Express4 days ago
A Lamborghini Huracan replica is grabbing eyeballs on social media, not for its speed or luxury parts, but for the story behind its creation. Bipin Chacko, the mastermind behind this project, from Kerala, spent three years building his dream supercar using scrap materials.
Chacko documented the journey showcasing his DIY Lamborghini, which is winning plaudits. It's part of his ongoing series titled Homemade Supercar, which includes nine detailed episodes capturing the entire building process, from gathering scrap materials to final polish. Instead of high-end materials, Chachko used fibreglass and multiwood to shape the body of the car, achieving a look strikingly close to the real Huracan, and used a fully custom-made chassis by hand.
He further revealed that he could only work on his creation during the night due to his busy schedule. Chacko also shared that he has already invested around Rs 1.5 lakh. However, he estimates that 20 to 30 per cent of the work is still pending. The interiors remain unfinished, with no cushioning yet installed on the seats.

A similar story emerged on social media earlier, where a 67-year-old man built an electric vehicle in Kerala. The vehicle uses up to one unit of electricity worth Rs 5 and could run 60 km when fully charged.

Aditya Chopra Warned Mohit Suri Saiyaara Will Not Work: ‘Your Script Is For 25-Year-Olds'

Last Updated: Mohit Suri revealed Aditya Chopra doubted Saiyaara's appeal, saying the script was for 25-year-olds. Suri insisted on taking the risk anyway. Mohit Suri's Saiyaara may be basking in box office glory now, but getting the film off the ground wasn't easy. In a recent interview, Suri revealed that producer Aditya Chopra initially had serious doubts about the film's commercial viability. 'Aditya Chopra told me, 'This script is for 25-year-olds. They don't go to theatres anymore,'" Suri shared while speaking to Just Too Filmy, recalling the early days of pitching the film to Yash Raj Films. The romantic drama stars newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, a casting decision that also added to the risk. 'He felt only action films were working and that it wasn't the right time to make this kind of love story," Suri explained. Despite the pushback, the filmmaker stood by his vision. 'I told him, 'Sir, let me take the risk.' I believed in the film and the performances. We weren't trying to manufacture a hit. It was honest storytelling," he added. Interestingly, Saiyaara has now shattered expectations. The film collected Rs 15.51 crore on Day 1, surpassing the opening day figures of Suri's previous successes like Aashiqui 2 and Half Girlfriend, and nearly matching Ek Villain's Day 1 collection of Rs 16 crore. The film's bold casting and emotional core have been widely praised, with many in the industry calling it a turning point for how newcomers are launched in Bollywood. Mohit Suri's persistence appears to have paid off. 'I'm glad I stuck to my instincts," he said. 'Sometimes you have to fight for the story you want to tell." Consumer forum orders compensation to high-end car owner

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ordered the supplier and manufacturer of a high-end car to pay compensation of Rs 5 lakh to a complainant. Complainant Bajpe Zakaria, a resident of Bolar in the city, appealed in his complaint before the commission, seeking direction to the opposite parties to pay compensation of Rs 25 lakh towards the higher price for the car. He also requested the extension of the agreed terms of 50% off/discount on service charges of the 2019 model vehicle for five years or until the vehicle is run up to 65,000 km. The complainant also sought the cost of the complaint from the opposite parties. Zakaria stated that he purchased the vehicle by paying Rs 1.3 crore and claimed that the price of the car was inflated and the sales managers and representatives agreed to extend 50% off on service for five years or up to 65,000 km. However, he received an email in April, 2020, stating the discontinuation of the 50% service package in Dec 2018. The complainant kept his car for service during June 2020, and a bill of Rs 33,563 was raised towards the service charges, though the car ran about 11,639 km and was well within the five years from the date of purchase, according to the complainant. After the hearing, DK District Consumer Commission president Somashekarappa K Handigol and woman member Sharadamma HG, in an order on July 11, directed the opposite parties to extend the agreed terms of 50% off/discount on service charges of the vehicle for five years or until the vehicle is run up to 65,000 km from the date of pronouncement of the order. The opposite parties were further directed to pay a sum of Rs 5 lakh as compensation for unfair trade practice, deficiency in service, mental agony, and inconvenience caused to the complainant. The commission also directed the opposite parties to pay a sum of Rs 10,000 as the cost of litigation to the complainant.
