Andreeva, who fell to Coco Gauff in a singles quarterfinal earlier, and Shnaider will next face third-seeded Italians Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani at the clay-court WTA 1000 event.

PHOENIX (AP) — Robbie Ray threw his first complete game since 2017, Rafael Devers had three RBIs and the San Francisco Giants beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-2 on Thursday night. The teams split the four-game series, with the Giants winning the final two. Ray (9-3) retired the first 12 batters before Eugenio Suarez led off the fifth inning with his 27th homer of the season to cut San Francisco's lead to 4-1. The veteran left-hander needed 102 pitches to navigate his nine innings, giving up three hits, including two solo homers, walking one and striking out seven. Ray pitched for the D-backs from 2015 to 2020 before being traded to Toronto. He won the AL Cy Young with the Blue Jays in 2021. Spain's new star, Vicky López, announces her presence at Euro 2025
BERN, Switzerland (AP) — From the country that claimed the last four Ballon d'Or awards, Spain has a new star. The 18-year-old Vicky López announced her arrival on the big stage Thursday by helping Spain to an opening 5-0 rout of Portugal at the Women's European Championship. It was Spain's biggest ever win at the tournament, eclipsing the 4-1 win over Finland at Euro 2022. López added the second goal just minutes after Esther González scored the first and she proved a constant threat for the beleaguered Portuguese defense, setting up chances for Alexia Putellas and playing a decisive role before González' second goal. Her performance earned praise from Spain coach Montse Tomé, even if she understandably tried to reign in the burgeoning expectations. 'She's a young player with whom we have to be patient. We've been working with her for a year, almost two years now,' Tomé said. 'We have a lot of faith in her talent, and she's at a point where we've been able to give her minutes (of playing time) now. She responded well. She did the job she had to do very well.' Tomé said López still had plenty of time to develop. 'We have to keep helping her improve. She's very young, and we're here to help her continue enjoying what she does,' the Spain coach said. It's clear that Tomé's faith is paying off for the player.
