Wayne Gretzky's daughter-in-law shares emotional birthday message to Ty Gretzky as the family marks milestone moments
The Gretzky legacy added another joyful chapter this week as Ty Gretzky, son of NHL legend Wayne Gretzky, celebrated his 35th birthday surrounded by family. His wife, Sara Gretzky, took to Instagram to post a touching tribute that gave fans a rare, heartwarming glimpse into the couple's family life and the deep bond they share with their children.
A birthday celebration filled with love and Disney magic
Sara's Instagram tribute included a carousel of personal family moments—Ty playing golf, skating, and swimming with their daughters, Sicily and Vienna Leone. Her caption stood out for its creative charm and sincerity: "Happy birthday to Vies handler & the Kristoff to her Elsa, the Maui to their Moana & the Flynn Rider to Sicilys Rapunzel we love you the most."
This blend of Disney references and heartfelt affection captured the depth of Ty's role as both a father and partner.
The couple, who tied the knot on February 29, 2020, celebrated their leap-year wedding with a Gatsby-themed ceremony in Brooklyn. Ty once joked about the rare anniversary date, posting, '2.29.20 Never going to forget it ❤️ see you in 4 years.'
Carrying on the hockey tradition—off the ice
While Ty didn't follow in Wayne Gretzky's skates to the NHL, he's made his own impact in the world of hockey. In 2014, Ty and his father co-founded The Gretzky Hockey School, a program designed to teach young players the fundamentals of the game.
The school operates across North America, keeping the Gretzky name tightly woven into hockey culture.
Earlier this month, Sara also drew attention for her heartfelt social media response to the tragic Texas floods. Sharing videos and messages from the affected area, she wrote, 'These poor families. No matter who you pray to, please keep them in your thoughts,' and added, 'Please god praying for more found.' Her emotional posts reflected the family's connection not just to the sport, but to the broader community as well.

MAGA singer's Canada gigs cancelled: Backlash over Sean Feucht's anti-diversity views; organisers cite safety risks
Sean Feuch (Picture: Instagram) US singer Sean Feucht's permit to hold a concert at the York Redoubt National Historic Site in Halifax was cancelled this week by Parks Canada. Officials cited safety concerns following public backlash against his anti-2SLGBTQ+, anti-women's rights, and anti-diversity remarks on social media. Feucht, a religious performer with links to the MAGA movement, was scheduled to perform on Wednesday. His permits for other events in Charlottetown (P.E.I.), Moncton (New Brunswick), and some parts of Quebec were also revoked soon after. LGBTQ+ groups welcomed the decision. Cameron Cassidy, head of Pride P.E.I., said, 'The City of Charlottetown absolutely did the right thing by revoking that permit. It shows respect for the queer community.' But not everyone agreed. James Turk, director at Toronto Metropolitan University's Centre for Free Expression, said cancelling a permit over a person's views is dangerous. 'The foundation of democracy is public discourse, including ideas we disagree with,' he said. 'Censorship only amplifies such voices.' Feucht later performed at a private venue in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, hosted by pastors Christine and Neil Barr. They said they faced hundreds of hate messages and some protests but went ahead with the show. In response to criticism, Feucht posted: 'If I had shown up with purple hair and a dress, no one would've cared. But my Christian beliefs are seen as a threat.' Opponents said his views go against Parks Canada's values of inclusion and safety. Turk countered that while physical safety must be ensured, 'a subjective feeling of being unsafe' isn't legal grounds to silence someone.
