Princess Diana won hearts around the world with her compassion and dedication to charity, and one of her best traits was the ability to relate to people on every level. During an investiture at Windsor Castle this week, Prince William was able to hear from one woman who was touched by a profound gesture the late princess made in 1990—and the story got his wheels turning on an idea for 11-year-old Prince George.
The Prince of Wales met teacher Wendy Daunt from the Royal School for the Deaf when he invested her as a member of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) at Windsor Castle. Using an interpreter, Daunt was able to share memories of how Princess Diana touched deaf people around the world.
"I wanted to tell him how proud the deaf community were of his mother, Princess Diana," Daunt told the BBC, recalling how the late princess attended the 1990 British Deaf Association conference.
"She came on stage to receive a book, and she signed in BSL and the deaf people were so amazed and in awe of this," the teacher continued. "A royal person had actually accepted our language. The respect for BSL that she gave, we've kept that all these years and will never forget that."
Daunt continued that she made a suggestion for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to "learn to sign." While she noted that Prince William's "face said, 'I'm not sure,'" he did say, "maybe Prince George would like to."
The Prince of Wales went on to suggest that Daunt give the 11-year-old prince lessons on British Sign Language (BSL). "Prince William did say that I could teach Prince George BSL," she said. "But I think it would be better for a younger person, a boy of his own age perhaps to teach him football signs. I would like Prince George to be friends with deaf children."
Learning BSL would fall in line with one of Princess Kate's goals for her children. During a 2018 encounter with a fan (via Hello!), the princess said her Italian was "so bad" and added, "I have to make sure my children are better than me, that's my aim." For Prince George, it's especially important for him to know multiple languages for his eventual role as King, when he'll regularly interact with global leaders.
At the moment, Prince George's school teaches French and Latin, along with Greek as an option for students in year seven and eight (George will enter year eight this fall). The Wales children are also said to know a good bit of Spanish thanks to their Spanish nanny, Maria Borrallo.

Noel Gallagher's ex-wife Meg Mathews reveals why she left Oasis' first reunion concert early

Don't go away. Oasis superstar Noel Gallagher's first ex-wife, Meg Mathews, has revealed why she abruptly left the band's first reunion show in 16 years on Friday, July 4, before the concert was officially over. Mathews, who was married to Noel from 1997 to 2001 and shares an adult daughter, Anaïs, with the 'Wonderwall' writer, explained her reasoning in a snappy Instagram post on Saturday. 'And how do you tell your missus it's not about her once she's read it is?' 'It's a song about an imaginary friend who's gonna come and save you from yourself,' Noel added. Balenciaga slammed for selling iconic Puma sneakers that look like they ‘got run over by construction vehicle' for $685

Balenciaga is once again selling something that looks distressed and old for a dollar amount that your average person would most likely never want to spend. The designer label has teamed up with shoewear brand Puma to create a ratty-looking version of the beloved Speedcat sneaker. The iconic 1999 flat-sole sneaker — which was originally meant to be a Formula 1 racing shoe —normally retails for around $100. But once the brand slapped Balenciaga's name on the tongue and sides, peeled off the Puma label to make it look worn out and added some grunge to it — this collab version of the sneaker will set you back $685. These shoes look like they've seen better days. Jam Press/Balenciaga The branded pair comes in a variety of colors for bougie customers to choose from. The collaboration launched late last month, and it was revealed as part of Balenciaga's winter 2025 collection. The celebrity-loved brand is aiming to put a fresh spin on Puma's most popular shoe styles, according to WWD. @hypebeast posted a TikTok video showing off the shoes — and the commenters did not hold back with their opinions. 'did you find these at the thrift store?' joked one person. 'Another scam from balenciaga for rich people, love that!' someone else sarcastically wrote. 'note to self: never Collab with Balenciaga unless u want a shoe that got run over by every kind of construction vehicle,' quipped another commenter. Balenciaga has made a name for itself with its 'ratty' looking releases. Jam Press/Puma That last comment might have some truth to it, considering this isn't the first time Balenciaga has come out with designs that made the public scratch their heads. For this past Valentine's Day, the Spanish fashion house released a $595 tattered tee and a zip-up hoodie that had destroyed hems and distressed seams for $1,190. Even the collection's color options are bizarre: 'dirty white' or 'super faded washed black' As expected, people online had something to say. Another Instagram user called people 'crazy' for 'thinking this is luxury fashion wear.' 'Tax anyone who can afford this,' said one person. 'Giving Shein,' someone wrote. 'Some of these brands have just been trolling us. I swear,' someone else chimed in.=

Oasis fan paid £35 for restricted view ticket and 'couldn't believe' what happened

An Oasis fan who paid £35 for restricted view ticket 'couldn't believe' what happened when the band reunited on stage. Last year, Cardiff fan Kelly Reardon Brown was one of thousands who spent hours online hoping to get a ticket to see band Oasis on their reunion tour. Like many, she missed out - but this week her luck changed as just days before the band opened their tour at Cardiff's Principality Stadium, some very lucky fans received an email to tell them to look out for the chance to bag some late release tickets. And to Kelly's surprise, they were a lot cheaper than she expected. Instead of paying the anticipated £150 per ticket for Liam and Noel Gallgher's first show back together as a band, Kelly, who is a sales director forked out £35. The only sticking point is that it was for a seat advertised as 'restricted view' - but turned out better than expected, Wales Online reports. I had been checking the Ticketmaster website but everything was really high priced. I was expecting to pay around £150 a ticket for the area we sat in. I also knew how scarce the tickets are and it was opening night too." Kelly's seat was in block U5, which is right in the top left corner of the map below and on the upper level. And she couldn't get over the price. "I genuinely thought I'd messed up at first and had only bought one ticket. (Kelly bought two) When I went back and saw I'd got them for £34.50 each, I thought there had been a mistake. "I then text a friend who works for the stadium and checked that I didn't have fake tickets! I genuinely couldn't believe it." Kelly hadn't been scammed and the U5 experience was "worth every penny." "The view was brilliant," she added. "You could see the entire stage from side on and you even got to see backstage too when they were walking in which brilliant as they (Noel and Liam) turned to us and clapped when we all cheered. "The screen was bent backwards so we had view of half of the screen. There was plenty of space too for us to dance. Great seats." On reflection Kelly wishes she'd got more to be able to ask more friends, but she was afraid they'd sell out if she entered the buying process again. "Absolutely worth every penny. I can't believe I got to see Oasis on the history making opening night for £34.50! Im so lucky!" During the opening gig on July 4, frontman Liam Gallagher made reference to the tickets controversy. Addressing the crowd, he asked: "You all having a good time, yeah?" He then added: "Was it worth the £40,000 you paid for a ticket?" Oasis tickets can still be obtained from a variety of online retailers, both official and unofficial resale websites - even at the eleventh hour. Ticketmaster will be the first port of call for fans as the original selling platform for the tour. However, the online ticketing behemoth hasn't had any tickets available for quite some time, bar a few production holds. At present, only individuals with allocated codes are able to purchase resale tickets. Here's the link: TICKETMASTER - Buy Oasis tickets here. Resale sites such as Viagogo, Stubhub, and Vivid Seats allow fans to buy resale tickets from other fans. However, it is important to note that ticket conditions often prohibit resale after initial purchase. Those tickets may not be valid for admittance to gigs. Fans intending to buy tickets for live events through resale websites should check the ticket terms and conditions to confirm whether resale is allowed before they buy. Ticket terms and conditions can be checked with the original seller, such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation. If resale is prohibited, tickets bought second-hand could be voided and admission to the event refused. If you prefer to do your own digging, we've got you covered. Here's a comprehensive list of resale websites where you can find Oasis tickets, including official resale website Twickets: Resale websites should be the primary focus for fans. Oasis have designated Twickets as their official resale website, but they haven't had tickets available for a considerable period. Fans have been gravitating towards Viagogo, Vivid Seats and StubHub. At the time of writing, some Oasis tickets are being sold on Viagogo for approximately £200 each. Here's the links: TWICKETS - Buy Oasis resale tickets now. VIAGOGO - Buy Oasis resale tickets now. VIVID SEATS - Buy Oasis resale tickets now. STUBHUB - Buy Oasis resale tickets now. Lastly, official tickets can also be procured from the VIP and hospitality-focused website Seat Unique. This retailer offers fans the best opportunity to secure a spot at an Oasis tour dates this year. Moreover, these VIP tickets provide fans with an opportunity to experience the band in a more luxurious and glamorous setting.
