Nicki Minaj's Viral Pose Trend: The Internet's Best Copycat Moments

Yahoo3 days ago
The Barbz have a new assignment, and it involves recreating Nicki Minaj's now-iconic "High School" pose, and, of course, the internet did not disappoint.
For those unfamiliar with the internet's latest obsession, the trend kicked off after a user unearthed a clip of Minaj posing poolside in high heels with her legs crossed in the "High School" music video, featuring rap sensation Lil Wayne.
But the challenge isn't just about the pose; participants have gone all out with the fashion, recreating the look in So Kate Christian Louboutin pumps, dazzling bodysuits, and even pointe shoes.
So, to honor the newest trend sparking tons of creativity and over-the-top production, here are five of the best that The Blast has seen so far.
Nicki Minaj's 'High School' Pose Trend Has Social Media Users Going Above And Beyond
First is social media user Brook Ashley Hall. According to the influencer's TikTok bio, her page covers a wide range of topics, including beauty, lifestyle, and family.
She has 14.9 million followers on the platform, and the latest clips of her recreating Minaj's "High School" pose have further skyrocketed her popularity.
In the first video, the blonde-haired beauty wore a matching purple suit with bright pink stilettos and Louis Vuitton shades.
She garnered a lot of love in the comment section of her post, with her husband, Marco Hall, writing, "I literally married an ICON." Someone else chimed in, telling Hall that there was to be "no eating" by the pool—a slang term used after a flawless performance of something.
And that's not all she wrote. Hall then took it a step further in another video, where she's seen sitting atop two dumbbells stacked on each other. A user commented, "Heavyweight championnnn."
Another User Nails The Nicki Minaj Trend In So Kate Louboutins
A second user, who only goes by the first name Imanni on TikTok, also put her spin on the Nicki Minaj "High School" trend.
In addition to posing with two dumbbells stacked on top of each other, this user, who has nearly 74,000 followers, placed a stack of books on the top to add even more drama.
But the best part of her attempt: she was wearing a black pair of So Kate Christian Louboutin pumps, which retail from $845 to nearly $4,000.
The sky-high heel is a go-to staple for Hollywood's elite, worn by celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé, and, most notably, Zendaya.
This TikTok User Took The Nicki Minaj Trend To A New Level
And if sitting on free weights didn't sound outrageous enough, TikTok users Nini&Tiny took it to a brand new level.
In their take on the trend, one half of the social media account wore strikingly flashy sunglasses and what appeared to be a sleek, black robe.
While Nicki Minaj's "High School" played in the background, a camera spun around them, showing them sitting atop a bright blue Keuring coffee maker.
Then, a hand fan flashed in front of the screen, later revealing a second user, dressed the same way, imitating the same pose.
Talk about production value!
How'd This User Get On Top Of Their Mailbox?
The fourth user to leave the internet speechless is We_Tha_Future5.
In their video, they sat atop a mailbox in an all-black ensemble with shades on, staring down the camera intensely as it rotated around them.
The popular beauty brand Elf Cosmetics commented on the clip, saying, "Me waiting for my package the moment I place the order."
Another user joined in on the fun, adding, "Mailbox stronger than my relationship."
A Fifth User Executed The Trend Underwater
In the last video, user Antoni Bumba, who has over 900,000 followers on the platform, executed the trend underwater.
Like the other users, she had on sunglasses, but also added some flair to her look with a sparkly, sheer scarf.
One user commented, "How could you eat underwater?"
Former host of "Catfish," Kamie Crawford, also commented, writing, "Correct."
A third user jokingly wrote, "OKAY LUNG CAPACITY I SEE YOU."
These are just a few of the hilarious and creative takes that have been trending, but the TikTok sound is growing by the minute. Scroll through the Nicki Minaj tag on the app to see thousands of other fantastic recreations.

'Makeup meal prep' hack goes viral on TikTok: 'I'm influenced'

Her beauty hack is no longer under wraps. UK-based makeup influencer Sam Begum is dividing the Internet with her head-scratching yet speedy makeup routine: a full face of cosmetics applied to a piece of plastic wrap at night, then slapped on her face in the morning. Videos of her technique have racked up nearly 10 million views on TikTok in recent weeks. The next morning, she finishes the routine by reversing the plastic and placing the side with the cosmetics on her face. 'Imagine all the bacteria on that foil and all the bacteria you absorb on the street while blending it all,' one person pointed out, along with the crying face emoji. In a July 14 video, Begum urged her followers to create a hole in the mouth area of the plastic wrap if they decide to test out her technique. 'Don't knock it till u try [it]!' she wrote. Man Gets Lego Gift After Fighting Brain Cancer—What He Builds Shocks Wife

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. For a couple online, grand romantic gestures take focused mental work—but they are so worth it. In a TikTok video, Alli Young revealed the simple, yet elaborate, act of her husband, Brett, delivering her water bottle via a massive Lego crane—something she said truly defines their relationship. Young told Newsweek about the engineering feat that has gone viral with over 223,000 likes. "Oh, your man likes to go out and party and doesn't text you back for hours on end? That's cool, mine delivers me my water bottle via a Lego crane that he spent all weekend building," Young captioned the video, which shows the large, intricate Lego crane delivering her bottle. Photos from Alli Young's TikTok video of her husband's crane Lego invention entering the room. Photos from Alli Young's TikTok video of her husband's crane Lego invention entering the room. @allliyoung/TikTok Young, who described her husband as a "huge LEGO collector since he was a kid," shared that Brett boasts a collection of around 150,000 pieces. The specific crane featured in the video was a Father's Day gift from her. "He spent every spare second over two days building it," Young said. "He works in construction management." While Young herself admitted she has never been into Lego, she said she deeply appreciates Brett's passion: "When he builds something he's proud of, it always makes me happy to see," she added. "It's like he gets transported back to being a little kid, and it's honestly just very fun to watch." The nine-second clip, Young said, offers a glimpse into the couple's unique dynamic. "You get a good idea of who we are, which sounds dumb, but hear me out," she added, describing Brett as "very meticulous and likes things done a certain way," while she is "the more extroverted, 'out there' one." The water-bottle delivery perfectly illustrates their balance of personalities, Young said: "Me asking him to bring me my water bottle and him using the crane to do it is his fun, playful side, but then you watch him at the end looking around the corner to make sure it makes it over the rug—back to his meticulous side showing through." Inspired by the overwhelming positive response to the video, Young said that Brett has now started his own TikTok account to show off more of his Lego collection. The story behind Brett's dedication to Lego, though, goes much deeper than just a hobby. Two years ago, their lives were shaken when they found out that Brett had a brain tumor. During his recovery from a craniotomy to remove the cancer, all of his friends put money together to buy him a huge Lego set to build while he was recovering. Young said she firmly believes that "the combination of doing something he loved and doing something to physically help his brain was what helped him heal." And, today, Brett is fully recovered, cancer-free and starting to teach the couple's 2-year-old daughter how to build small Lego sets. For Young, even though she doesn't fully understand the appeal of Lego, as she concluded: "I can see how much he loves it, which makes me love it just a little bit."
