Yami Gautam opens up on article 370 casting doubts, reveals why she was not the first choice but still won everyone over
Actor Yami Gautam, known for her sharp selection of roles and consistent performances, recently opened up about her casting experience for Article 370. The film not only emerged as one of the most talked-about successes of 2024 but also positioned Yami as the performer of the year. In a candid interview, she shared how doubts were cast over her ability to carry the film at the box office — despite her track record as a capable actor.
Casting concerns and the search for 'bigger names'
Yami revealed that during early discussions for Article 370, a senior team member expressed reservations about casting her. There were suggestions to bring in a more commercially known female actor or even cast a male lead to ensure higher box office performance. 'They felt I wouldn't be able to get the box office numbers despite being a good actor,' Yami told Indiatimes.
Initially, Aditya and Lokesh, part of the film's team, explored casting alternatives to avoid the impression of favouritism. However, those discussions didn't move forward, and the role eventually returned to Yami. 'I read the script and liked it. I didn't know how I would do this, but I had decided to give my everything to play this character,' she said.
Winning over the critics and team
Yami's performance eventually turned initial scepticism into strong praise. Once the film was screened for those involved, their reactions changed. 'They liked my performance and said that I was the best choice for the role,' she said. The actor credited the change in perception to the belief of a few who trusted her ability. 'It is just about the conviction of one or two people that takes things to change around you,' she added.
Box office success and what lies ahead
Article 370 proved to be a major hit and even received appreciation from the Prime Minister. It performed strongly at the box office, exceeding expectations and proving her critics wrong. After delivering another successful outing in Dhoom Dhaam, Yami is now preparing for a collaboration with director Suparn Varma on a new film inspired by the real-life story of Shah Bano. With more powerful roles on the horizon, she continues to be one of the most dependable actors in the industry today.

Exclusive: CM Punk to turn heel, beat John Cena for the Undisputed Championship at Night of Champions?
John Cena is set to defend the Undisputed Championship against CM Punk at Night of Champions this Saturday (June 28). The match, which is expected to headline the Premium Live Event, promises to be a slobberknocker as the two had a memorable feud over a decade ago. Things, however, are a bit different this time as 'The GOAT' is the heel and Punk is a face (good guy) heading into the show in Saudi Arabia. A veteran writer recently weighed in on the possible outcome of the match and said that 'The Second City Saint' should not only win the title but also embrace the dark side. Vince Russo wants CM Punk to win at Night of Champions Vince Russo is a popular name in the pro-wrestling business. The writer has been associated with companies such as WWE and WCW. In an interaction with Indiatimes, Russo said that he would love for Punk to turn heel on Cena at Night of Champions and walk away with the title. He added this will help WWE redeem themselves after 'they buried' Punk last week on SmackDown. 'If it were me---I'm turning Punk heel on Cena and putting the belt on him. I wouldn't have any other choice after they buried Punk on Smackdown by making him sell that table spot for 20 minutes,' he told Indiatimes. In case you did not know, Cena assaulted Punk on SmackDown last week and put him through a table. After this, he delivered a fiery promo in which he spewed venom on 'The Best in the World' and called him a hypocrite. The segment was similar to the 'pipebomb' Punk had delivered many years ago. About Cena's heel turn John Cena turned heel on Cody Rhodes at Elimination Chamber 2025. He then defeated him at WrestleMania 41 (with help from Travis Scott) to capture the Undisputed Championmship. He then defended it successfully against Randy Orton at Backlash 2025. Cena also beat Ron Killings/R-Truth at Saturday Night's Main Event. He, however, suffered a defeat at Money in the Bank where he and Logan Paul lost to Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso.

Shreyas Iyer papped in Mumbai amid buzz over love life—VIDEO
On June 27, 2025, fans were treated to a rare, off-the-field sighting of Shreyas Iyer as he was papped in Mumbai. The stylish cricketer was seen outside a local café, dressed in a laid-back black monogram tee and shorts. In the video, Iyer appeared relaxed, smiling during a casual conversation with someone off-camera. But even a candid coffee shop moment could not escape the public gaze, especially as Iyer's off-field life—both personal and professional—continues to be a subject of intense speculation. Girlfriend or guesswork? The two women linked to Iyer Iyer's love life has become prime gossip fuel, and much of it remains unconfirmed. Two names continue to dominate the chatter—Trisha Kulkarni and Edin Rose. According to India Times, Trisha Kulkarni, a professional in AI and machine learning, has been quietly linked to Iyer since she was spotted at Team India's Diwali celebration and seen alongside his sister at multiple matches. Though she maintains a private profile, her consistent presence at Iyer's key moments has kept the rumors alive. But then came Edin Rose's explosive claim. The Bigg Boss 18 alumna told Filmygyan earlier this month that she's 'already married to Shreyas Iyer in [her] mind' and believes she's the future mother of his children. The Dubai-based actress and influencer's bold confession has set social media ablaze, though Iyer himself has made no public comment on either front. With silence from his end, the mystery only deepens. Cricketing career crossroads: Omitted but not out? While fans gush over his charm, Iyer faces a professional pause. Despite a strong domestic season and a brilliant IPL 2025 performance, he was left out of India's Test squad against England. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar admitted in a press conference that Iyer 'has played well' but wasn't accommodated due to team composition. Iyer ended IPL 2025 with 604 runs. Despite his impressive knock of 97 against the Gujarat Titans and a crucial 87 in Qualifier 2, his performance in the final raised questions about his temperament under pressure. Iyer himself admitted, 'The job is still half done,' vowing to lead Punjab Kings to the title next season.

EXCLUSIVE: Kunal Kemmu NOT approached for Brooklyn Nine Nine Indian remake; details of pilot episode inside
The American cop-comedy series Brooklyn Nine Nine, starring Andy Samberg, the late Andre Braugher, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Joe Lo Truglio and Chelsea Perretti, has become a cult classic over the years. And now, it is getting an adaptation in Hindi for the Indian audience. Kunal Kemmu; a still from Brooklyn Nine Nine Recent reports stated that Rishab Seth, who has directed Dhoom Dhaam and the recently released Mistry, is going to be helming the show, but seems like it's all a bit in the early stages. And now a source close to the development informs us, 'The makers do have a strong desire to bring out the Indian adaptation, but it is at a very nascent stage. Nothing is signed or confirmed as of yet and they are still looking out for a platform.' Reports also suggested that actor Kunal Kemmu has been approached to play the lead character, essayed by Andy in the original. However, that isn't the case. 'The casting of Kunal Kemmu is a complete rumour. His name has been discussed among the makers due to his impeccable comic timing, but he has not been a part of those discussions yet and nothing has been taken to him. The casting process is still a few months away,' the source shares, giving an important update on the show. 'The writers have written a pilot episode and fleshed out the characters as per Indian setting, but it's all a little early. Although, if all things go well, the show might hit the screens after a year,' the source says. Brooklyn Nine Nine follows a group of cops in the 99th precinct in Brooklyn, New York, and their everyday antics as they solve cases with a hint of humour. The show has achieved cult following over the course of its six seasons run, and is often rewatched on TV and streaming.
