EXCLUSIVE: Kunal Kemmu NOT approached for Brooklyn Nine Nine Indian remake; details of pilot episode inside
The American cop-comedy series Brooklyn Nine Nine, starring Andy Samberg, the late Andre Braugher, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Joe Lo Truglio and Chelsea Perretti, has become a cult classic over the years. And now, it is getting an adaptation in Hindi for the Indian audience. Kunal Kemmu; a still from Brooklyn Nine Nine Recent reports stated that Rishab Seth, who has directed Dhoom Dhaam and the recently released Mistry, is going to be helming the show, but seems like it's all a bit in the early stages. And now a source close to the development informs us, 'The makers do have a strong desire to bring out the Indian adaptation, but it is at a very nascent stage. Nothing is signed or confirmed as of yet and they are still looking out for a platform.' Reports also suggested that actor Kunal Kemmu has been approached to play the lead character, essayed by Andy in the original. However, that isn't the case. 'The casting of Kunal Kemmu is a complete rumour. His name has been discussed among the makers due to his impeccable comic timing, but he has not been a part of those discussions yet and nothing has been taken to him. The casting process is still a few months away,' the source shares, giving an important update on the show. 'The writers have written a pilot episode and fleshed out the characters as per Indian setting, but it's all a little early. Although, if all things go well, the show might hit the screens after a year,' the source says. Brooklyn Nine Nine follows a group of cops in the 99th precinct in Brooklyn, New York, and their everyday antics as they solve cases with a hint of humour. The show has achieved cult following over the course of its six seasons run, and is often rewatched on TV and streaming.

Eijaz Khan on his deep bond with music; says ‘Music doesn't fix you, but it makes life bearable'
Eijaz Khan , best known for his intense performances in projects like City of Dreams, Adhrishyam, Dhoom Dhaam, and Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, recently opened up about something far more personal than a role or a script — his profound and emotional relationship with music. What unfolds is not just a love for melody, but a quiet testimony to the healing power of sound. On the topic of the current wave of remixed classics flooding Bollywood, Eijaz is refreshingly honest. 'I have mixed feelings about it. There's a very fine line,' he says. He isn't against experimentation, but what bothers him is the dilution of emotional memory. 'As long as the original song is respected and its essence isn't lost, it's okay,' he explains. But too often, the remixes feel like 'noise,' stripping away nostalgia and repackaging emotionless versions for quick consumption. 'It feels like those memories are being erased and repackaged like junk food,' he says, with a clarity that reveals his deep respect for original artistry. Asked which musician moved him the most, Eijaz doesn't hesitate. 'George Michael,' he answers. 'His voice doesn't try to be vulnerable — it just is. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo It scratches you, it makes you bleed, it shakes you.' For him, albums like Listen Without Prejudice and Older resonate on a visceral level, mirroring his own inner struggles. The pain, isolation, and silent battles in Michael's music echo chapters from his own life. 'Those albums aren't just music to me — they've become lifelines. ' Recounting a powerful moment from a Guns N' Roses concert, Eijaz reveals, 'When they started playing my favorite hits, I didn't scream or sing along. I just froze and started crying.' In that moment, he felt a convergence of his past and present selves. 'I was that young boy, Eijaz Khan, who didn't understand so many things but had Guns N' Roses as a companion.' That concert was not just an experience — it was a memory stitched back together, a form of emotional closure. Naming his favorite song is easy: Older by George Michael . 'That song isn't preachy — it feels like a quiet, honest conversation you have with yourself,' he reflects. With every passing year, its meaning grows deeper. 'Every line, every word feels like a page pulled straight out of my own emotional diary.' Music, for Eijaz, goes beyond entertainment or inspiration. 'It transforms you. It helps you evolve. Sometimes it gives your deepest pain a voice,' he says. It hasn't fixed him — but it has comforted him through despair. 'You understand music differently when you're broken,' he says poignantly. 'And I think during my loneliest phases, music understood me even when I didn't understand myself.' From silence to song, from solitude to self-awareness, Eijaz Khan's emotional world is intimately tied to the music that shaped him. 'Sometimes it's healed me. Sometimes it's haunted me. But always, it's comforted me.' And in those melodies and lyrics, we see not just the actor, but the man — real, raw, and remarkably resonant.

Yami Gautam opens up on article 370 casting doubts, reveals why she was not the first choice but still won everyone over
Actor Yami Gautam, known for her sharp selection of roles and consistent performances, recently opened up about her casting experience for Article 370. The film not only emerged as one of the most talked-about successes of 2024 but also positioned Yami as the performer of the year. In a candid interview, she shared how doubts were cast over her ability to carry the film at the box office — despite her track record as a capable actor. Casting concerns and the search for 'bigger names' Yami revealed that during early discussions for Article 370, a senior team member expressed reservations about casting her. There were suggestions to bring in a more commercially known female actor or even cast a male lead to ensure higher box office performance. 'They felt I wouldn't be able to get the box office numbers despite being a good actor,' Yami told Indiatimes. Initially, Aditya and Lokesh, part of the film's team, explored casting alternatives to avoid the impression of favouritism. However, those discussions didn't move forward, and the role eventually returned to Yami. 'I read the script and liked it. I didn't know how I would do this, but I had decided to give my everything to play this character,' she said. Winning over the critics and team Yami's performance eventually turned initial scepticism into strong praise. Once the film was screened for those involved, their reactions changed. 'They liked my performance and said that I was the best choice for the role,' she said. The actor credited the change in perception to the belief of a few who trusted her ability. 'It is just about the conviction of one or two people that takes things to change around you,' she added. Box office success and what lies ahead Article 370 proved to be a major hit and even received appreciation from the Prime Minister. It performed strongly at the box office, exceeding expectations and proving her critics wrong. After delivering another successful outing in Dhoom Dhaam, Yami is now preparing for a collaboration with director Suparn Varma on a new film inspired by the real-life story of Shah Bano. With more powerful roles on the horizon, she continues to be one of the most dependable actors in the industry today.

Eijaz Khan calls the cancellation of Adrishyam 2 midway a ‘shocker', admits going through a ‘lull' in his career
Actor Eijaz Khan, who was thrilled to be back with his web series Adrishyam 2 which released last month, was disappointed when the show was halted after only six episodes. Speaking to us, the actor mentions, how the viewers had expected a richer offering—more episodes, but felt disappointed with the sudden change. 'No one was expecting the show to be cut short in the middle. It was a shocker for the cast too. The discussions are still ongoing with the producers and channel, and there's a possibility that the show might be revived. If that happens, I think everyone will be happy,' he says, lamenting the uncertainty of the show's future. Despite the inconsistency in his projects, Eijaz feels fortunate, as while many struggled for work post-COVID, he had back-to-back opportunities. The actor was seen in Jawan (2023), Adrishyam, City of Dreams Season 3 and Dhoom Dhaam, which released earlier this year. However, he acknowledges that he is currently experiencing a lull in his career. 'I am just an actor who is trying to act,' says Eijaz, adding, 'I was supposed to start shooting for City of Dreams Season 4, but it's been postponed. And in my 20 years in this business, 99.9% of postponed projects never come back. That's just how it is.'

Warangal speech lacked punch: Kavitha tells KCR
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha strongly felt that party supremo and her father Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao should have targeted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) more in his speech at the recent public meeting marking party's silver jubilee celebrations. In a six-page, handwritten letter to her father, Kavitha said that his speech at the massive public meeting on April 27 lacked requisite punch. The BRS organised the public meeting at Elkaturthy near Warangal. 'I may be feeling so because I went to jail because of the BJP. But as you spoke against the BJP for just two minutes, the cadre has started feeling that in the future, the BRS may have an alliance with the BJP. You should have targeted the BJP more, daddy,' she said in the letter which was leaked to the media on Thursday. She is currently on a US tour. She questioned why the BRS chief did not speak in Urdu and why he didn't mention about the Waqf Act as the party president when it was a burning topic of discussion in the country. She also questioned why there was no mention about the important topics like 42 per cent reservations for the BCs and categorisation of Scheduled Castes. The BRS leader pointed out that the old in-charges were given the responsibility of silver jubilee meeting, which resulted in leaders who were with the party since agitation days, not getting a chance to speak on the dais and the 'Dhoom Dhaam' programme was also not encouraging. Staying away from elections for Legislative Council seats also sent a wrong message and the Congress used it as an opportunity and went to the people saying that the BRS had a tacit understanding with the BJP, she pointed out. She suggested to the BRS president to hold a plenary for at least two days to discuss all these issues. Giving her positive feedback about the speech, the BRS MLC said that she liked the way KCR skipped the name of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. It was good on your part to oppose Operation Kagar and to say that the Congress government had failed. The warning to police personnel was also well received, she said.
