Mike Yastrzemski homers in his 1st at-bat as a Royal in 9-3 victory over the Blue Jays
Acquired from San Francisco just before the trade deadline Thursday, Yastrzemski had a two-run shot off Kevin Gausman (7-8) in the second inning to make it 2-1.
Wacha (5-9) allowed three hits and stuck out five, helping the Royals improve to .500 for the first time since June 20. He gave up one run for the fourth consecutive start.
Bobby Witt Jr., Salvador Perez and Adam Frazier also homered for Kansas City.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had two-out homer in the first inning to give Toronto a 1-0 lead. After Yastrzemski gave the Royals the lead in the second, and Witt's three-run homer made it 5-1 in the third.
Kansas City added four runs in the ninth. Perez and Frazier homered and Maikel Garcia had a bases-loaded single.
Addison Barger hit a two-run homer for Toronto in the ninth.

Carroll and Gurriel drive in 2 runs each, Diamondbacks beat Padres 5-2
PHOENIX (AP) — Corbin Carroll and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. each drove in two runs, Brandon Pfaadt pitched into the sixth inning, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Diego Padres 6-2 on Monday night. Tyler Locklear and Alek Thomas each hit a solo homer for Arizona. Pfaadt (11-7) gave up two runs in 5 2/3 innings and was replaced in the sixth by Andrew Hoffmann with runners at first and third and two out. Hoffman got Ryan O'Hearn to fly out to end the threat and pitched a 1-2-3 seventh before Kyle Backhus got the final six outs for his first career save. Gurriel singled off Padres starter JP Sears (7-10) to drive in Ketel Marte and give Arizona a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Carroll hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded that drove in Blaze Alexander — who walked to lead off the inning — and made it 2-0. Arizona has won three in a row after it lost nine of 10. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Pinch-hitter Yohel Pozo delivered a tiebreaking RBI single with two outs in the ninth inning, and the St. Louis Cardinals hung on for a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night. After Willson Contreras got a leadoff single off new Dodgers reliever Brock Stewart (2-2), pinch-runner Garrett Hampson eventually scored on a soft single to right by Pozo. The Cards' backup catcher celebrated enthusiastically after just his second hit in his last eight games.
