Heat warning for southern Ontario expected to end tonight: Environment Canada
Environment Canada issued a heat warning Friday afternoon for areas between Windsor and Peterborough, saying daytime highs between 31 and 33 C were expected on Saturday and Sunday.

The weather agency says the weather is expected to break tonight.
A news release from the City of Toronto says 56 of 58 outdoor pools are open this weekend and the city is also operating more than 100 added shelter spaces for people experiencing homelessness.
It's not the first heat warning for Ontario this summer — extreme heat reaching the mid-30s broke temperature records in many parts of the province on June 22 and 23.
Toronto Public Health says it recorded 42 heat-related emergency department visits during that heat wave.

Rainfall warning issued for parts of western Quebec
A rainfall warning has been issued for a wide swath of the Outaouais to the north and west of Gatineau, Que., while thunderstorm watches are in place elsewhere in the region. Bands of heavy rain will begin falling Sunday night and Monday morning, according to the warning issued by Environment Canada just after 1 p.m. on Sunday. That advisory covers an area stretching from Renfrew in the west to Cornwall in the east, and as far south as the Perth area. It also covers the city of Gatineau and parts of the Outaouais to the northeast. Thunderstorm watches are issued when a severe storm is possible. A warning means one is happening or likely about to happen.

Falling hail could reach a diameter of almost one centimetre, according to Environment Canada. Nautical activities are discouraged and the agency recommends staying inside if you hear thunder. A heat warning is also in place for the area as the humidex could reach 40 degrees Sunday afternoon.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Ottawa and Gatineau for this afternoon into this evening with storms capable of producing 90 km/h wind gusts, nickel-sized hail and up to 30 millimetres of rain in an hour. Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility, the forecaster says. Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain. Environment Canada has also declared a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of western Quebec, including Wakefield, Cantley and Pontiac. Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Ottawa weather A mix of sun and clouds are expected today with a 40 per cent chance of showers late this afternoon and a risk of a thunderstorm. High 33 C. Humidex values will make it feel like 41. It will be mainly cloudy tonight with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a risk of a thunderstorm. Low 20 C. Monday will be mainly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of showers changing to 70 per cent in the morning. Risk of a thunderstorm in the morning. High 27 C with a humidex of 35. Tuesday will be cloudy with a high of 24 C and a low of 16 C in the evening, about average for this time of year. The long-range forecast shows temperatures remaining in the mid-20s with some rain and possible thunderstorms throughout the week.
