Collin Morikawa parts with caddie Joe Greiner, employs former Cal teammate for Rocket Classic
Collin Morikawa is making another caddie change.
After just five tournaments, Morikawa and looper Joe Greiner have split, Morikawa confirmed to Golfweek on Wednesday. Korn Ferry Tour player K.K. Limbhasut, Morikawa's former college teammate at Cal, will make a spot start on the bag for this week's Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club.
Morikawa hired Greiner after parting ways with the only caddie of his pro career, J.J. Jakovac, following the RBC Heritage in late April. Greiner, who was Max Homa's longtime caddie, worked a couple tournaments filling in for Justin Thomas' regular caddie, Matt Minister, including at Harbour Town, where Thomas won. With Greiner as caddie, Morikawa notched three top-25s, though nothing better than T-17, at the Truist Championship, their first event together.
The report did not state who Morikawa will have on the bag after this week.
Limbhasut has made nine starts on the KFT this season and ranks No. 159 on the tour's points list.

That coincides with several last-minute withdrawals from the PGA Tour event. Eric Cole, Kevin Yu, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, and Tim Widing have each pulled out of the event. For Piot, it is a return that started his career. After winning the U.S. Amateur in 2021, Piot joined the Tour. Yet, he struggled mightily to gain any traction at the professional level, missing his final six cuts in a row. That prompted the decision for now 26-year-old, to join LIV Golf. Piot took part in the Saudi-funded league upon its inception in 2022. He spent two seasons as a part of Phil Mickelson's HyFlyers squad. Yet, the talented youngster was unable to jump-start his career there, either. He was relegated after his second season. Advertisement Since that time, Piot has undergone shoulder surgery. After healing up, the former Michigan State Spartan has mostly played the Asian Tour. He also played in one Korn Ferry Tour event, missing the cut there as well. It will be interesting to see how he performs this week vs. a pretty strong PGA Tour field. Even though World No.1 Scottie Scheffler will not be there, several Tour stars are in Detroit. That includes Collin Morikawa, the aforementioned Keegan Bradley, Patrick Cantlay, Wyndham Clark, and 2023 Rocket champion Rickie Fowler. Collin Morikawa, a 28-year-old golfer on the PGA Tour, has recently found himself involved in controversy. Morikawa has recently made multiple caddie changes. His interesting caddie moves led to an article he didn't appreciate from reporter Adam Schupak of Golfweek. The article led to a heated exchange between the reporter and Morikawa at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, via golfdigest on Instagram. Advertisement Morikawa was asked by the reporter if he knows who his caddie will be for the British Open. The golfer said he did not know yet and proceeded to call out the reporter. 'I don't (know yet),' Morikawa said. 'I read your article that you wrote. Look, I'm not here to tell people how to do their jobs, but I don't get why you would make me sound bad because you put out my quote that I was playing with pro-am partners out front. Those guys are paying a lot of money. They're very important to the community, they're very important to the Rocket Classic. And for you to put out a quote like that to put me down in saying, 'hey, wait two and a half hours.' I mean, you called me up on the first tee, you know? 'So, I'm not going to tell you how to do your job. You can write whatever you want, this is America. But don't put me down like that because it's two and a half hours, Adam.' The reporter then took a moment to respond to Collin Morikawa. Advertisement 'I thought I was actually giving you credit that you were playing… You were focused on your pro-am partners,' the reporter said. 'Okay, we can all read it very differently,' Morikawa said with an annoyed smile on his face. 'That's not how I read it… I'm just telling you, like, I think there's a perspective where people can read it like that. So, I'm just gonna leave it at that… We knew I was gonna have media in two and a half hours. I'm on the first tee, meeting my pro-am partners as they're teeing off. So, on the caddie front, I don't. It would be a bit more fun and less stressful,' Lee remarked. For Potgieter and Roy, getting off to a strong start is crucial during this key stretch of the season.
