Iraqi top leaders convene to assess regional fallout
Shafaq News/ On Sunday, Iraq's top authorities convened an emergency meeting to address mounting regional tensions following the recent US airstrikes on nuclear facilities inside Iran.
President Abdul Latif Rashid, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, and Supreme Judicial Council head Faiq Zidan attended the closed-door session. No official statement was issued regarding the nature of the discussions or any conclusions reached.
With concerns rising over the potential fallout for Iraq, al-Sudani also planned further consultations with leaders of the Shiite Coordination Framework (CF) and the State Administration Coalition (SAC)—an alliance bringing together key Shiite, Sunni, and Kurdish political forces. These talks are intended to evaluate the implications of the regional escalation on Iraq's security and political environment.

Duhok: +34K IDPs eligible to vote in Iraq polls
Shafaq News – Duhok More than 34,000 displaced people in Duhok province will be eligible to vote in Iraq's November 11 parliamentary elections, the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced on Saturday. Khalid Abbas, head of IHEC's Duhok office, told Shafaq News the commission is coordinating with the Ministry of Migration and Displacement to verify the identities of displaced residents, both in and outside formal camps. To support this process, IHEC has deployed over 20 mobile teams to update voter records ahead of opening dedicated polling stations. Abbas also emphasized that returnees who have gone back to their home districts must vote there, rather than in the camps. According to official figures, Duhok currently hosts 15 displacement camps with more than 3,300 people, most of them from Sinjar after fleeing the ISIS incursion in 2014. Earlier today, Abbas confirmed in a press conference that Duhok will hold 11 parliamentary seats: eight for men, three for women, and one reserved for the Christian quota.

Reports indicate that Esmail Qaani, commander of Iran's Quds Force, is currently visiting Baghdad, where he is reportedly holding meetings with leaders of armed factions and the so-called Axis of Resistance, an alliance of Iran-aligned groups in Iraq and the wider region, to coordinate positions and potentially form a new operations room, according to Radio Monte Carlo International. Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, speaking earlier this week, warned that Iraq will not tolerate any internal or external actions that undermine its security and stability, vowing a firm response to any such threats.
