RMAF Continues To Enhance Country's Air Defence Through CAP55
Its chief, Gen Tan Sri Mohd Asghar Khan Goriman Khan said CAP55 which is the cornerstone of its transformation, was formulated to ensure that the RMAF remains competitive in line with the increasingly complex and multidimensional challenges of modern security.
CAP55 is not just an asset acquisition plan, but a comprehensive plan involving the development of doctrine, organisational structure, technology and human capital.
"This plan is not for me or the current leadership, but for the next generation of military personnel so that they can carry the trust of defending the nation's airspace with the best capability," he said.
Mohd Asghar Khan said this at the press conference after the RMAF 67th Anniversary parade ceremony celebration themed 'Kuasa Udara, Perisai Kedaulatan Negara' (Air Power, Shield of National Sovereignty)" at the Kuantan Air Base here today.
At this anniversary celebration, he also announced his retirement after more than four decades of service in the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and he will hand over the leadership of the RMAF to his deputy, Lt Gen Datuk Seri Muhamad Norazlan Aris.
Mohd Asghar Khan said the plan also prepares the RMAF to face non-traditional threats, including cyberattacks, electronic warfare, the use of autonomous drones, and hybrid conflicts that are now increasingly dominant in the global defence landscape.
Therefore, he expressed confidence that the implementation of CAP55 will be strengthened under the new leadership, described as authoritative and far-sighted.
"Alhamdulillah, the RMAF today is on a solid foundation. We will continue to move forward in our efforts to enhance capabilities and remain vigilant in defending our beloved homeland," he said.

KUALA LUMPUR: India is working to simplify the procedure for Malaysian Indians seeking the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status, acknowledging that documentation requirements remain a key challenge for applicants. In an exclusive interview with Bernama, High Commissioner of India to Malaysia B.N. Reddy said the mission recognises that many applicants face difficulties in providing proof of ancestry, particularly due to historical migration patterns and the loss of documents over time. 'Before OCI status is issued, individuals need to provide documents proving Indian origin, up to the third generation. 'The challenge is that many documents are not available because those who came here during the British era often did not retain them, and some were lost during the war period,' he said. Reddy said the High Commission has been engaging with the Indian government to allow for the use of documents issued by Malaysian authorities and former British colonial administrations to support OCI applications. 'We have tried to get our government to agree that documents issued by the Malaysian government or former Malaya authorities can be accepted. 'If a document identifies India as the country of origin, we can issue the OCI card,' he said. He said currently around 100,000 of over two million Malaysian Indians are holding OCI cards. OCI status allows foreign nationals of Indian origin to travel to India without a visa and grants certain rights, including the ability to own property under specific conditions, but does not confer citizenship.

Court to decide on blogger's sedition case on September 24

(Bernama pic) Kuala Lumpur: The sessions court has fixed Sept 24 to deliver its decision in the sedition trial of blogger Wan Azri Wan Deris, also known as Papagomo, over a statement involving the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Wan Azri's lawyer, Rafique Rashid Ali, said the court fixed the date on Tuesday after the prosecution closed its case. Seven witnesses were called to testify. Wan Azri, 41, is accused of making the statement in a post on X, under the account sir_azri, at a condominium in Bukit Bintang at 12pm on April 29. If convicted under the Sedition Act, he faces a maximum fine of RM5,000, up to three years in prison, or both. The court is also expected to rule on July 9 in a separate sedition case involving Wan Azri. Trump says Israel has agreed to 'necessary conditions' to finalise 60-day ceasefire in Gaza
WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that Israel has agreed to the "necessary conditions" to finalise a 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. According to Anadolu Ajansi, Trump in a post on his Truth Social platform, said his representatives held a "long and productive meeting" with Israeli officials earlier in the day. "Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalise the 60 Day CEASEFIRE, during which time we will work with all parties to end the War," he wrote. He added that Qatar and Egypt, the mediators in the ceasefire talks, would deliver the "final proposal" to the Palestinian group Hamas. "I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE," Trump said. Earlier in the day, Trump told reporters that he hopes a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip will be reached "sometime next week." He said he will discuss Gaza and Iran with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu next week in Washington, DC. "He's coming here. We're going to talk about a lot of things.
