Welcome to the tiny homes town - where more than 60 people live in four villages in homes which are as small as 8.5ft wide.
Dan Dobrowolski, 66, is the founder of the national tiny home company Escape and has built The Village, The Oaks, Palm Court, and The Grove in Tampa Bay, Florida.
The 45 homes fit up to two bedrooms, full kitchen and bathrooms, despite the smallest being even less than 8.5 feet wide, and cost as little as $156,199 to buy and $1,295 a month to rent.
Unlike mobile home parks or RV sites, Escape Tampa Bay is built with permanent infrastructure.
Dobrowolski built the homes in 2020 - some of which he has built across the country - in a bid to address the deepening housing affordability crisis.
"Even though it's a tiny house, you still have a large area where you can go outside and walk just like you're in a normal neighborhood," he said.
"We intentionally designated the entire central part of the development as a large park, so it's very green, very quiet, and you have space."
Escape Tampa Bay is near major roads and basic amenities and offers long-term housing at lower costs than typical rentals in the region.
Homes in the community range from about 200 to 600 square feet, with some of the earlier models reaching 800 square feet.
Monthly rent averages around $1,400 - below current market rates in the area, where rental prices have been climbing amid high demand and limited availability.
Dobrowolski says he sees this type of housing as one possible answer to the wider affordability problem.
"People all talk about the affordability crisis in housing," he said. "Especially if you're a working person - cops, teachers, mechanics - they're priced out."
There are shared amenities on-site, including a pool, a workspace area, and secured entry, as well as underground utilities and fiber optic internet.
Most residents own their homes, though the company offers some units as rentals with leases between nine and twelve months.
Some homes have been resold, with recent prices as low as $89,197 plus a $595 monthly lot fee.
Dobrowolski purchased the land and developed the community.
However, he does not personally own all the homes in the village. The homes are sold to individual buyers, who then own or rent their units privately.
Zoning restrictions and local opposition can slow or stop expansion.
"The demand is off the Richter scale," he said.
"Beauty is important, and we've shown that affordable housing doesn't have to mean sacrificing neighborhood quality or design.
He added: "What we've created here isn't just housing - it's a real community where people can afford to live and thrive in today's economy."

2025 Is Turning Into A Recall Disaster For Ford originally appeared on Autoblog. Almost three years ago, Ford CEO Jim Farley said that fixing quality was his top priority for the Blue Oval. However, Farley also said at the time that doing so would 'take several years,' and that appears to be an accurate assessment when looking at Ford's shockingly high number of recalls so far this year. In an analysis done by Carscoops, Ford has issued 81 recalls in 2025 so far. That's more than the entire number of recalls (67) for the brand in 2024, when Ford was only behind Stellantis (72) for total recalls. At this rate, Ford will hit over 150 recalls by the time the year is done. Those 81 recalls have affected over four million vehicles, and Ford has issued a recall every 2.12 days so far in 2025, on average. For each recall, an average of over 50,000 vehicles are affected. Even worse, 80 of the 81 recalls this year required some kind of physical inspection or fix for the impacted vehicles, so the problems were such that they couldn't be easily resolved via an over-the-air update. Here's just a few of the recalls issued by Ford in 2025: Rearview camera: 1.1 million vehicles affected Steering control issues: over 29,000 vehicles affected Braking failures: 2,345 vehicles affected Seat issues: over 300,000 vehicles affected This isn't an exhaustive list, and the combination of electronic, mechanical, and trim issues indicate that overall quality is a problem, not one specific aspect of Ford vehicles. Data from CarEdge supports this latest analysis, too; by the middle of May, Ford had racked up 51 recalls. The next closest brand was the VW Group, with 14, so it's not even close. The rearview camera recall is the biggest one for Ford so far in 2025. It affects everything from the Escape crossover to high-end models like the Lincoln Navigator and Nautilus. The camera display image could freeze or display a delayed image, which could result in the driver not spotting an immediate hazard. Electrical systems accounted for 17 unique recall campaigns. It's worth pointing out that 14 of Ford's recalls this year involved under 100 vehicles, so these were not as widespread. However, even if we exclude these 14 recalls, Ford is still having far more quality issues than any other can be issued at any time, and for vehicles of any age, so it's worth noting that Ford's current run of recalls are impacted by certain older models dating back to the 2020 model year. Looking at the latest J.D. Power 2025 Vehicle Dependability Study - which tracked the number of problems per brand for owners that have had their cars for three years - Ford doesn't fare as badly. It registered 208 problems per 100 vehicles, just below the industry average but above brands like Subaru, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, and Jeep. Still, there is clearly a quality crisis at Ford, and even if not all Ford owners are left stranded at the side of the road, the recalls are disruptive to the overall ownership experience and some of them pose safety risks. By Ben Barry A bookworm's dream has hit the market for $1.6m - a property with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves filled with 7,000 hardbacks. The home, in Columbus, Ohio, was designed by developer Guy Marshall to look like an old German Village cottage. The 4,536 square foot two-unit is constructed to look like a 100-year-old building, with eight bedrooms, six bathrooms and the capacity to sleep 24 guests. Nicknamed 'The Book House', the property is stacked floor to ceiling with around 7,000 books that Guy Marshall paid 10 cents a book for. The listing says the property is designed to specifically function as a large party entertaining space with modern amenities - located not far from a Children's Hospital, ALL German Village and downtown Columbus. It adds: "One of the more notable features includes floor-to-ceiling bookshelves with library ladders and 7,000 plus hardcover books spanning every room. "Proformas from top-rated short-term rental companies project an average. $273k in gross annual income." Guy Marshall, designer of 'The Book House' said: "Everything about the project was intentional. "The exterior is made entirely of concrete block, each unit dyed and flashed to emulate the burnished, sooted appearance of historic masonry. "The single-wythe, one-foot-thick walls mirror those of buildings constructed in the early 1900s. "The structure honors old-world craftsmanship through and through-from vintage materials and custom ironwork to antique lighting, barn beams, and one-of-a-kind installations like library ladders and thousands of books. "My goal was to seamlessly blend charm and character with the luxury and comfort expected in today's most finely appointed homes. "This building is a reflection of my passions-design, craftsmanship, and construction. "It wasn't the cheapest route; in fact, it cost significantly more than a conventional stick-built home with vinyl siding and drywall. "That's why I designed it to operate as a high-end short-term rental: to increase revenue and share it with guests from all over."
