First, the Chicago White Sox acquired right-handed pitcher Miguel Castro from the Houston Astros for international bonus pool space.
Then, the Arizona Diamondbacks traded left-handed reliever Jose Castillo to the New York Mets for cash considerations. Castillo was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks earlier this week.

Castro, 30, joined the Astros on a minor league deal this offseason. Across 19.2 innings at Triple-A, he had a 2.29 ERA with 20 strikeouts.
Castro reportedly had an upcoming opt-out clause in his contract in early June. Clearly, Houston didn't have any intention of calling him up, so instead, they sent him to Chicago, a team in need of bullpen help.

Castro has played for six teams since he debuted in 2015. Across 419 career appearances with the Toronto Blue Jays, Colorado Rockies, Baltimore Orioles, New York Mets, New York Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks, Castro has generated a 4.20 ERA.
Diamondbacks Trade Jose Castillo to Mets
The Mets decided to shuffle their bullpen options, bringing in Castillo and designating right-hander Kevin Herget for assignment.
Castillo has made five appearances at the MLB level this season, sporting an ERA of 11.37 with just three strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched.

The Mets had grown familiar with Castillo, as they faced him twice in their three-game series with the Diamondbacks last week.
On May 5, Castillo recorded two outs without giving up a hit or walk. However, two days later, he pitched 1.1 innings, allowing three earned runs on one hit and three walks.
Castillo has played in parts of five MLB seasons dating back to 2018. He debuted with the San Diego Padres in 2018, making 37 appearances and sporting a 3.29 ERA out of the bullpen. Then, he made just one MLB appearance in each of the 2019, 2022 and 2023 seasons.
The Mets were in need of a left-handed reliever, so they'll hope Castillo fills the void in their bullpen.

Rangers 1B Jake Burger goes on the injured list for 2nd time this season
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger will be on the injured list for the second time this season when the team resumes play after the All-Star break. Texas placed Burger on the 10-day IL on Wednesday because of a left quad strain. The move was retroactive to Sunday, a day after Burger struck out as a pinch-hitter in the 10th inning at Houston. He had exited in the sixth inning of Friday night's opener in the three-game series against the AL West-leading Astros. The Rangers (48-49) didn't immediately make a corresponding roster move. They open a three-game series at home Friday night against Detroit (59-38), which despite a four-game losing streak still has the best record in the major leagues. Burger, who is hitting .228 with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs over 75 games in his first season with Texas, played in only 10 games after returning from his previous IL stint. He missed 10 games from June 21 until July 2 because of a left oblique strain. Texas got Burger in a trade from Miami in December. After he hit .190 with three homers and a team-high 32 strikeouts in 100 at-bats his first 30 games, the Rangers sent him briefly to Triple-A Round Rock. In 45 games since returning to the majors, he hit .250 with eight homers and 23 RBIs. ___ AP MLB: The Associated Press

Yankees superstar Aaron Judge says his relationship with God is more fulfilling than his success
New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge has both fame and fortune, but prefers his faith. Judge, 33, was asked what he would tell someone who thinks fame and fortune would solve all of their problems. "Our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. He's given me this platform, this ability. The fame, getting the chance to do this is great and all, but it's not fulfilling as much as the relationship I have with Him," Judge said during a media availability on Monday, via CBN Sports. "Build a relationship with Him, and that'll solve all your problems." Judge has been open about his faith throughout his career and showcased it on Monday while he prepared for the MLB All-Star Game. Judge's bat, which was painted blue and featured his daughter's name, Nora, also had a reference to a passage from the Bible on it — 2 Corinthians 5:7. "For we live by faith, not by sight," the verse read. The Yankees' captain is in the midst of another incredible season as he leads the major leagues with a .355 batting average, is second with 35 home runs, and has 81 RBI while playing great defense in right field. The seven-time All-Star is going for his third American League MVP award in three seasons. Judge won the AL MVP in 2022 after setting the American League home run record with 62 home runs and won the award last season after leading the big leagues in home runs (58) and RBI (144). The Yankees fell out of first place in the American League East but still occupy one of the wildcard spots. The team will need Judge to continue his remarkable play as they make a playoff push.
